The Erskine Fire has burned more than 43,000 acres since it started on Thursday, June 23, killing at least two people. Authorities said the wildfire destroyed at least 250 structures and damaged 75 others near the Lake Isabella area in Kern County. Evacuation orders were in place for parts of central California. US Secretary of State John Kerry added last-minute stops to Brussels and London to his European itinerary on June 27 in the wake of the UK?s decision to leave the EU. Speaking to the press, Kerry said he had spoken with the EU?s High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini and with European Commission President Jean-Claude Junker. He said there was a ?need to honor? the result of the Brexit referendum in a way that was ?responsible, sensitive and thoughtful and ? strategic.? Kerry said the ?interests and values? that had brought the global community closer together in the wake of the Second World War were the same now as they were before the Brexit vote. He said it was important now to stay focused on those interests and values. He said that the US ?cares about a strong EU?. Kerry said the US would maintain its strong relationship with the UK. The Local Coordination Committees, a group monitoring the conflict in Syria, reported that several airstrikes targeted the town of Anadan, located approximately six miles north of the city of Aleppo, on June 27. Local activists inside the town reported that several civilians were wounded in the airstrikes. This footage, released by Syrian Civil Defense in Aleppo volunteers, shows one of the wounded being taken to a nearby local field hospital. The airstrikes come amid heavy fighting between pro-regime and rebel forces at al-Mallah Farms, located east of Anadan, which has taken place over the past 48 hours. Iraq?s Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi on Sunday, June 26, called on Iraqis to celebrate the liberation of Fallujah from the Islamic State. During a visit to the city, which lies around 31 miles west of capital Baghdad, Al-Abadi vowed also to reclaim Mosul, which has been held by the militant group for two years. The Iraqi prime minister raised the country?s flag in Fallujah at around 6:09 of this video. Al-Abadi?s visit came nine days after he declared the liberation of the centre of Fallujah. Fighting have continued in northern and southern parts of the city, particularly in small villages and suburbs, as Islamic State forces carried out deadly ambush attacks on a daily basis.
