Ultra Music

Ultra Music is an electronic music record label in North America, comprising Ultra Records, Ultra Music Publishing, and Empire Artist Management. The label was formed in New York City in 1995 by former Polygram and Virgin Records executive Patrick Moxey, who is the owner. As of January 23, 2013, Ultra merged its operations with Sony Music in a deal that brought all of Ultra's artists, music catalogs and licensing rights into the Sony fold in exchange for Sony's investment in Ultra and promoting Moxey (who will retain ownership) to the newly established role as president of Sony's Dance/Electronic Music division under CEO Doug Morris. As of January 2013, the label's physical releases are distributed by RED Distribution in the United States.

Ultra's roster includes, among others, Rosette, Axwell, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Kaskade, Pitbull, Calvin Harris, The Bloody Beetroots, Wolfgang Gartner, Benny Benassi, Edward Maya, Headhunterz, Congorock, Rebecca & Fiona, TOKiMONSTA, Mt Eden, Adrian Lux, Mysto & Pizzi, Mayra Verónica, Inna, Fedde le Grand, Basshunter, Kerli, Margaret Berger, Alexandra Stan, Brass Knuckles, John de Sohn, Bynon, and Project 46. Raise Your Weapon

"Raise Your Weapon" is a song by Canadian electronic music producer deadmau5. It was released on May 23, 2011 as the fourth single from his fifth studio album 4×4=12. The song was written by Joel "deadmau5" Zimmerman, Cydney Sheffield and Sonny "Skrillex" Moore, and features contributing vocals from Greta Svabo Bech. Musically, "Raise Your Weapon" is a progressive house song that begins with a piano melody and Bech's vocals and ends with dubstep beat with the vocals repeated. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics, with some highlighting it as a standout track from the album. It reached number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his first song to make an entry on the chart. It also reached number 117 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was nominated at the 54th Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording, where he also performed the song in a sequence with David Guetta, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Foo Fighters, with the songs being "I Can Only Imagine" and "Rope."

Ghosts 'n' Stuff

"Ghosts 'n' Stuff" (also "Ghosts N Stuff") is a song by Canadian progressive house and electro house DJ deadmau5 featuring vocals from Rob Swire from Australian drum and bass and electronic rock band Pendulum and Knife Party. It was released as a single from deadmau5's studio album, For Lack of a Better Name. The opening theme is based on Piano Sonata No. 2 (Chopin) and featured a sample from the film The Brain from Planet Arous. The refrain is a reinterpretation of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game.

History

The original version of "Ghosts 'n' Stuff" was made in 2004, and it "ended up going through at least 10 revisions". Joel Zimmerman and Rob Swire had been coincidentally meeting each other backstage at various festivals and agreed to collaborate.

The song was made specifically for Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 Essential Selection show on October 10, 2008. deadmau5 was a guest on the show along with Steve Angello (the two, with Tong, were playing a live set in Manchester, England that night). In the week leading up to the show, Tong requested that deadmau5 create something new for his appearance. At the 81:03 mark, deadmau5 states that the song was originally titled "Hotel" because he made it for Tong's show while staying in his hotel. He also states that the song was only "just now" finished and that he is now calling it "Ghosts 'n' Stuff". Deadmau5 debuted this song to a live audience at HARD Haunted Mansion 2008 in Los Angeles, CA.
