The Great Loop 034 The St Lucie River
I don't like the wind. I respect sailboaters and all, but wind makes waves and makes anchoring into a sketchy prospect. In my kayak days, 10 mph was the line below which was happy paddling and above was work and potential danger. My 31 foot Chris Craft handled the 25-30mph winds and gusts to who know's what, with no issues, but it made for less then ideal traveling. In this video, I mention that I follow Mike and I do so willingly. He's a good captain, has more experience then I do and pushes me to sometimes go beyond my comfort zone. Without him, I doubt I ever would have had the courage to take on this bucket-list adventurous journey. That being said, we both subjected ourselves to more than we needed to on this St. Lucie passage. If we keep this up, traveling whenever we have time, beca...

St Lucie River Inshore trolling for big fish
#CProFishing

With the wind blowing we decided to do some Inshore trolling on the St Lucie River on Florida's Treasure Coast. We troll slow at 4 knots and found a school of nice size Jack Crevalle which pound for pound are one of the toughest fighting fish. We were hoping for some big monsters but my Son was super exciting to fight the nice fish Jacks we hooked up. We trolled Yozuri lures and bomber plugs. The mullet color bomber ended up getting the job done.
I will be fishing for these Jack Crevalle this month as I'm hoping to break my recent 30 lb personal best.

Film Crews Tour St. Lucie River
Film crews that attended the Treasure Coast International Film Festival were invited to take a boat tour of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. This versatile site was used in the James Bond film, "Moonraker" shot in 1979. This tour will hopefully inspire filmmakers to set up shop in Port St. Lucie once more.

Without him, I doubt I ever would have had the courage to take on this bucket-list adventurous journey. That being said, we both subjected ourselves to more than we needed to on this St. Lucie passage. If we keep this up, traveling whenever we have time, because of his absences due to his businesses on land, instead of when the weather is fair and moving is safer, it could catch up to us. It is something we have discussed and soon, he'll be giving up any work for a long time so we can dedicate all of our days to The Loop and pick travel days that are easier. This IS the ICW on the Atlantic side though. And the ocean's presence makes things a bit more turbulent then around the Gulf of Mexico. It's certainly more daunting here then in Tampa Bay. Caution and respect for Her is important but we may still, no doubt, have plenty of days ahead when we need to suck it up and move ahead in less then ideal conditions even if we CAN choose to move whenever we want. These are the rough days when sleeping through the night is impossible and you wish for easier times. But what fun would THAT be? This is supposed to be an adventure. And we're about to turn left and head North in the next video. None of that would be possible if we didn't overcome these obstacles along our way. Wind. Waves. Schedules. Whatever.
Come what may.
