It's hard to find words for this. It just came so out of the bushes for me. Tom and Architects has been one of my biggest musical inspirations and influences for over 7 years. Tom's talent both as a guitarist and a songwriter was remarkable and monumental. His and the band's work has always shaped the whole metalcore genre to a whole new direction. They are the spark that still keeps the genre alive and fresh and succeeds to shape metal music as a whole. Rest easy, Tom Searle.
My utmost condolences goes to Dan, Sam, Alex, Adam and the whole Searle family and friends. Stay strong.

Apart from Maggie Smith, that cast contains a welter of superb British acting talent including Michael Hordern, Renée Asherson, Stephanie Cole, Thora Hird, Maurice Denham, John Wood, Zoë Wanamaker, Peter Eyre, Cyril Cusack, Anna Cropper, Robert Flemyng, Preston Lockwood, Muriel Pavlow, Frank Shelley - and others who I apologise for leaving out of this cast break-down... "MEMENTO MORI"
Remember your mortality – Stemming from the medieval Latin theory and practice of reflection on mortality, it has been a ubiquitous part of human culture for centuries. From the philosophical to the artistic, the fascination, fear and appreciation of death has consistently captivated and cultivated our imagination. Many practitioners of this theory kept with them, artifacts or keepsakes which served as a reminder that the only thing certain in life, was death. Many of these items were often objects (watches, necklaces) in the shape of skulls.
The low-poly design for me represents a simplistic one. The bare “bones” of 3D creation and graphic art, the first steps of animation or as I see it, the beginning of (virtual) life.
Many historians believe that playing cards represented a deeper, esoteric meaning, that each suit was one of the four seasons. Each card within a suit was one of the thirteen phases of the moon. The fifty-two cards in a deck would represent the fifty-two weeks of the year and together this would represent just one year of your life. A constant reminder of our fleeting time on earth.
This deck is my Memento Mori.

Memento Mori -Victorian Death Photos-EXTREMELY CREEPY
With the advent of photography in the Victorian era a rather unusual practice evolved. Having photos taken was very expensive and most families didn’t own a camera. It is well known that mortality rates were high in this era due mostly to diseases and poor hygiene. When a loved one died the Victorians were presented with an opportunity to imortalise their beloved in a way that was previously impossible: they could photograph them. Because of the high cost of photography, post-mortem photographs were, in many cases, the only photograph a family had of the deceased.
In the earliest forms of post-mortem photography, coffins were seldom seen and the dead would be posed as if they were still alive. Children were posed with toys or asleep in their bed. Even special frames were cleverly used to make the corpse stand upright. For many poor children whose siblings died, they would be required to pose with their brother or sister in a macabre family portrait. Bear in mind that this all had to happen within days of the person’s death in order to take the photographs prior to the visible onset of decomposition. The term “memento mori” is not Victorian – it predates it by centuries. It means “remember you will die” and, due to the influence of the Catholic Church in medieval life (reminding people constantly to prepare for their end), the spirit of “memento mori” imbued all aspects of society. It could be found in art, music, and even poetry.

These photographs of deceased loved ones were a normal part of American and European culture in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Memento mori
Memento mori (Latin: "remember that you must die") is the medieval Latin theory and practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. It is related to the ars moriendi ("The Art of Dying") and related literature. Memento mori has been an important part of ascetic disciplines as a means of perfecting the character, by cultivating detachment and other virtues, and turning the attention towards the immortality of the soul and the afterlife.
In art, mementos mori are artistic or symbolic reminders of mortality. In the European Christian art context, "the expression... developed with the growth of Christianity, which emphasized Heaven, Hell, and salvation of the soul in the afterlife."
Pronunciation and translation
In English, the phrase is pronounced /məˈmɛnˌtoʊ ˈmɔːriː/, mə-MEN-toh MOR-ee.

Maggie Smith
Dame Margaret Natalie Smith, CH, DBE (born 28 December 1934) is an English actress. She made her stage debut in 1952 and has had an extensive, varied career in stage, film and television spanning over sixty years. Smith has appeared in over 50 films and is one of Britain's most recognisable actresses. She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 1990 New Year Honours for services to the performing arts, and Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour (CH) in the 2014 Birthday Honours for services to drama.

It's hard to find words for this. It just came so out of the bushes for me. Tom and Architects has been one of my biggest musical inspirations and influences for over 7 years. Tom's talent both as a guitarist and a songwriter was remarkable and monumental. His and the band's work has always shaped the whole metalcore genre to a whole new direction. They are the spark that still keeps the genre alive and fresh and succeeds to shape metal music as a whole. Rest easy, Tom Searle. "MEMENTO MORI"
Remember your mortality – Stemming from the medieval Latin theory and practice of reflection on mortality, it has been a ubiquitous part of human culture for centuries. From the philosophical to the artistic, the fascination, fear and appreciation of death has consistently captivated and cultivated our imagination. Many practitioners of this theory kept with them, artifacts or keepsakes which served as a reminder that the only thing certain in life, was death. Many of these items were often objects (watches, necklaces) in the shape of skulls.
The low-poly design for me represents a simplistic one. The bare “bones” of 3D creation and graphic art, the first steps of animation or as I see it, the beginning of (virtual) life.
Many historians believe that playing cards represented a deeper, esoteric meaning, that each suit was one of the four seasons. Each card within a suit was one of the thirteen phases of the moon. The fifty-two cards in a deck would represent the fifty-two weeks of the year and together this would represent just one year of your life. A constant reminder of our fleeting time on earth.
This deck is my Memento Mori.

With the advent of photography in the Victorian era a rather unusual practice evolved. Having photos taken was very expensive and most families didn’t own a camera. It is well known that mortality rates were high in this era due mostly to diseases and poor hygiene. When a loved one died the Victorians were presented with an opportunity to imortalise their beloved in a way that was previously impossible: they could photograph them. Because of the high cost of photography, post-mortem photographs were, in many cases, the only photograph a family had of the deceased.
In the earliest forms of post-mortem photography, coffins were seldom seen and the dead would be posed as if they were still alive. Children were posed with toys or asleep in their bed. Even special frames were cleverly used to make the corpse stand upright. For many poor children whose siblings died, they would be required to pose with their brother or sister in a macabre family portrait. Bear in mind that this all had to happen within days of the person’s death in order to take the photographs prior to the visible onset of decomposition. The term “memento mori” is not Victorian – it predates it by centuries. It means “remember you will die” and, due to the influence of the Catholic Church in medieval life (reminding people constantly to prepare for their end), the spirit of “memento mori” imbued all aspects of society. It could be found in art, music, and even poetry.
