London tower bridge is a great tourist attraction spot. The opening and closing of this bridge is a must watch event for every London visitor. Tower Bridge (built 1886–1894) is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London which crosses the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, from which it takes its name, and has become an iconic symbol of London.
The bridge consists of two towers tied together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal forces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical component of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower. The bridge's present colour scheme dates from 1977, when it was painted red, white and blue for Queen Elizabeth II's silver jubilee. Originally it was painted a mid greenish-blue colour.
The nearest London Underground tube stations are Tower Hill on the Circle and District line, London Bridge and Bermondsey, and the nearest Docklands Light Railway station is Tower Gateway.

A YOUNG thrill-seeker crashes into the River Thames after leaping from Tower Bridge. Actor and vlogger Shah Faisal Shinawari jumped from the iconic landmark on Thursday July 16, as part of a stunt which went horribly wrong. The 17-year-old, whose goes by the online alias 'Carnage', belly flopped into the freezing cold water as his friends filmed the traumatic event.

Glen is a mechanical engineer by training, and now works in the control cabin at one of London's most iconic Landmarks, Tower Bridge. It is Glen's job to raise and lower the bridge several times a day to allow shipping to pass underneath. A self-pronounced problem-solver, Glen is inspired by his unique workplace and his central role in one of London's most photographed daily rituals.
This is film is the first in the Londoners of the Thames - 1000 Londoners Totally Thames 2014 series.

This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a five-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Over the course of the project we aim to reveal as many facets of the capital as possible, seeing city life from 1000 points of view.

Hi, good afternoon Gann. Tower Bridge Radio.Yeah, just calling to let you know we’re standing by for your 15:15 bridge lift.
Checking up shortly.
All understood, we’ll stand by for your departure. Over.
It was back in 1997. I was doing a bridge lift at about 10 o’clock at night, and all of a sudden we saw blue flashing lights all over the place and it turned out to be Bill Clinton, stuck at the gates in his limousine. And well, within a few minutes of him stopping the phone went. We had Scotland Yard on the phone saying “Put the bridge down.” You know, the president is stuck at the gates and unfortunately I had to tell them I can’t do that because I had a boat coming under the bridge and I can’t jeopardise a vessel.
South-East all clear, thank you.
When the bridge was built it was in the middle of the busiest docks in the world and the act of parliament that was passed at the time did decree that shipping have right of way over road traffic and that still stands to this day.
I would like to think I’m a bit of a problem solver. If I’ve got a fridge or a freezer that packs up working, or central heating, I’ll always have a bash at that before calling out the experts shall we say. If we’ve got any issues on the bridge where we need to get a situation sorted out, you know, I’ll stick at it until I can solve the problems.
A lot of people don’t realise it still opens and funnily enough the ones that don’t are probably you know, quite a lot of Londoners.

Well the bridge is going to be opening in, is scheduled to open at 3.15 so that’s 15 minutes time.

I’m just in the process of starting our pumps up here. As soon as they’ve started I’ll proceed with the life for you over.
So we’ve got eight pumps to start and they all start in sequence so they don’t overload the system. And when we’re happy the boats ready to come through we’ll stop the road traffic.

Clear the centre of bridge, the bridge is about to open. Clear the bridge please.
Then we get to the point where we can pull the lever which turns the gears of course and opens the bridge.
Obviously working on one of the most unique sights, icons in the world, erm it’s recognisable all over the place, Tower Bridge and I feel honoured.
And there she goes.
It’s a unique job and I don’t think there’s any other job quite like it to be honest yeah.

Hi, good afternoon Gann. Tower Bridge Radio.Yeah, just calling to let you know we’re standing by for your 15:15 bridge lift.
Checking up shortly.
All understood, we’ll stand by for your departure. Over.
It was back in 1997. I was doing a bridge lift at about 10 o’clock at night, and all of a sudden we saw blue flashing lights all over the place and it turned out to be Bill Clinton, stuck at the gates in his limousine. And well, within a few minutes of him stopping the phone went. We had Scotland Yard on the phone saying “Put the bridge down.” You know, the president is stuck at the gates and unfortunately I had to tell them I can’t do that because I had a boat coming under the bridge and I can’t jeopardise a vessel.
South-East all clear, thank you.
When the bridge was built it was in the middle of the busiest docks in the world and the act of parliament that was passed at the time did decree that shipping have right of way over road traffic and that still stands to this day.
I would like to think I’m a bit of a problem solver. If I’ve got a fridge or a freezer that packs up working, or central heating, I’ll always have a bash at that before calling out the experts shall we say. If we’ve got any issues on the bridge where we need to get a situation sorted out, you know, I’ll stick at it until I can solve the problems.
A lot of people don’t realise it still opens and funnily enough the ones that don’t are probably you know, quite a lot of Londoners.

Well the bridge is going to be opening in, is scheduled to open at 3.15 so that’s 15 minutes time.

I’m just in the process of starting our pumps up here. As soon as they’ve started I’ll proceed with the life for you over.
So we’ve got eight pumps to start and they all start in sequence so they don’t overload the system. And when we’re happy the boats ready to come through we’ll stop the road traffic.

Clear the centre of bridge, the bridge is about to open. Clear the bridge please.
Then we get to the point where we can pull the lever which turns the gears of course and opens the bridge.
Obviously working on one of the most unique sights, icons in the world, erm it’s recognisable all over the place, Tower Bridge and I feel honoured.

It’s a unique job and I don’t think there’s any other job quite like it to be honest yeah.

Obviously working on one of the most unique sights, icons in the world, erm it’s recognisable all over the place, Tower Bridge and I feel honoured.

And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer.

Behind me is Lucerne's Kapellbrucke or Chapel Bridge. Probably one of the most photographed attractions of Switzerland. Said to be the longest covered bridge in the world, it was originally built in the 14th century to act as part of the protective wall around the city. Sadly, a large part of it was burnt in a fire in the early 90's, but most of it has since been inextricably restored.
What is really interesting about the bridge is that its wooden ceiling has various triangular shaped paintings. Many of the paintings were destroyed in the fire as well. Some have been repainted but many are lost forever. The main attraction at the end of the bridge is this octagonal tower called the water tower. It has served various purposes including that of an archive, treasury, prison and a torture chamber. And of course we are in Lucerne so a great view is virtually guaranteed. Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London built in 1886–1894. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become an iconic symbol of London. Tower Bridge is one of five London bridges now owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation. It is the only one of the Trust's bridges not to connect the City of London directly to the Southwark bank, as its northern landfall is in Tower Hamlets. The nearest London Underground tube stations are Tower Hill on the Circle and District lines, London Bridge on the Jubilee and Northern lines and Bermondsey on the Jubilee line, and the nearest Docklands Light Railway station is Tower Gateway. The nearest National Rail stations are at Fenchurch Street and London Bridge.

ASMR ~Wooden tower bridge (1000subs!)
Hy! We have reached 1000 subs! Here, have a video ;) I recorded it a while back but I got sick. I also needed to edit quite a lot cause making this thing wasn't very easy. Mostly it was just me derping around with pieces of wood that wouldn't stay together... So there are some parts of the video that I edited out... I used another camera to record this, but I didn't use the correct settings so the video turned out a bit to dark. Also the sound quality isn't that great for some reason. Hope you still like it! The Tower bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in LONDON built in 1886-1894.
The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become an iconic symbol of London.
The entry prices for The Tower Bridge Exhibition is 9.00£ for an adult (+16) and 3.90£ for a child (5-15)

I recorded it a while back but I got sick. I also needed to edit quite a lot cause making this thing wasn't very easy. Mostly it was just me derping around with pieces of wood that wouldn't stay together...
So there are some parts of the video that I edited out...
I used another camera to record this, but I didn't use the correct settings so the video turned out a bit to dark. Also the sound quality isn't that great for some reason.
Hope you still like it! Oh, and a delayed happy New Year! ;)
