When the Lights Go Out

"When the Lights Go Out" is the second single released from British group Five's debut studio album (music), 5ive. It was released in early 1998. The song was co-written by Eliot Kennedy, Tim Lever and Mike Percy (from the band Dead or Alive), and John McClaughlin. It was co-produced by Eliot Kennedy, Tim Lever and Mike Percy.

"When the Lights Go Out" is the band's only top ten hit in the United States. An alternate version of the song, in which J Brown's rap is replaced by Abs Breen's rap, was made especially for the US release; there are separate videos for each version. Five's biggest hit to date internationally, "When the Lights Go Out" is considered somewhat to be their debut single in most countries (except in the UK), peaking at number two in Australia, reaching the Top 30 in the US on 23 June 1998 and peaking at number 10 on 21 July 1998. The song also spent six months in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and sold 800,000 copies in the US alone.

Music videos

The UK version (directed by duo Liam & Grant) starts with a woman using a VR machine and sees the members as they dance together and in separate rooms with each getting a distinct color: Abs in teal, Scott in orange, Ritchie in purple, Sean in blue and J in red. Through the woman's perspective, the viewers sees the members with a given number and their horoscope sign respectively.

When The Lights Go Out was a 1988 album that was recorded by American singer/actress Pia Zadora. The album was reissued in July 2014 as a 2 CD set.

Background

The set was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in 1987 and was intended to be released in the United States on Epic Records, but those plans were scrapped and was instead released in Europe through CBS Records, where it failed to chart in that region. Its only release from that album, "Dance Out Of My Head," peaked at number 65 in the United Kingdom.

On July 28, 2014, US label Funky Town Grooves reissued the album in a 2 CD set, with the entire tracks remastered on one CD while the second CD contained 6 unreleased remixed versions of "Dance Out Of My Head" and 5 unreleased remixes of "Heartbeat of Love" from the "Pia Z" album. This marked the first time that the album was released in the United States since Epic's decision to shelve the release stateside.

When the Lights Go Out is an five-song EP by Australian DJ and recording artist Havana Brown. It was released for digital download on 17 July 2012 by Island Records Australia as Brown's first EP. The Australian version of the EP includes five new songs, while the US version includes the international remix of "We Run the Night" featuring American rapper Pitbull. The track, being Brown's debut single, written by Cassie Davis and Snob Scrilla, and produced by RedOne, was released in September 2011 and became her first US top 40 hit, reaching number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100. The EP peaked at number 16 on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified platinum.

Background

In 2008, Havana Brown signed a recording deal with Universal Music Australia and began releasing her Crave compilation series through the label. Throughout 2008 and 2009, Brown toured as a supporting act for Rihanna, The Pussycat Dolls, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears during the Australian legs of their tours. By the end of 2009, Brown commenced working on Australian radio providing mixes for the Party People programme every Saturday night on the Today Network. Prior to the release of When the Lights Go Out, Brown released her debut single "We Run the Night" in 2011. The track peaked at number five in Australia and was certified triple platinum by the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) denoting 210,000 shipped copies. The song also charted in other countries including the United States where it peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 and certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

"Lights Go Out" is a song by English electronic group Client from their third studio album, Heartland. It was released in Germany in December 2006 on CD and digital download by Out of Line Music and SPV GmbH, and on 12" by Masterhit Recordings.

It is the band's first single since leaving the Toast Hawaii label and their first release not to be issued in their native United Kingdom. The song was used in a club scene in the beginning of the 2008 film The Ramen Girl, along with "Drive".

"Lights Go Out" is a song released by American rock band Fozzy. It was released on April 29, 2014 and served as the first single from the band's sixth studio album, Do You Wanna Start a War. It was also one of the official theme songs for the 2014 WWE pay-per-view SummerSlam, during which Fozzy vocalist Chris Jericho lost his match against Bray Wyatt.
