What Katy Did is an 1872 children's book written by Sarah Chauncey Woolsey under her pen name Susan Coolidge. It follows the adventures of a twelve-year-old American girl, Katy Carr, and her family who live in the fictional lakeside Ohio town of Burnet in the 1860s. Katy is a tall untidy tomboy, forever getting into scrapes but wishing to be beautiful and beloved. When a terrible accident makes her an invalid, her illness and four-year recovery gradually teach her to be as good and kind as she has always wanted.
Two sequels follow Katy as she grows up: What Katy Did at School and What Katy Did Next. Two further sequels relating the adventures of Katy's younger siblings were also published—Clover and In the High Valley. The books were frequently reprinted and all are available online.
Coolidge modeled Katy on her own childhood self, and the other 'Little Carrs' on her brothers and sisters. The title is a play on the katydid, a species of cricket – which explains the insects on the first edition book cover.
Peter Doherty (born 12 March 1979) is an English musician, songwriter, actor, poet, writer, and artist. He is best known for being co-frontman of the Libertines, which he formed with Carl Barât in 1997. His other musical project is indie band Babyshambles. In 2005, he became prominent in tabloids, the news media, and pop culture blogs because of his romantic relationship with model Kate Moss and his frequently-publicised drug addictions.
Doherty was born in Hexham, Northumberland, to a military family. His father, Peter John Doherty, was a sergeant in the Royal Signals, while his mother, Jacqueline Michels, was a lance-corporal in Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps. His paternal grandfather was an Irish immigrant from Cheekpoint in County Waterford; his maternal grandfather was Jewish, the son of immigrants from France and Russia. He was raised Catholic. He grew up at a number of army garrisons across Britain and Europe, with his sisters Amy Jo and Emily. Doherty was the second of the three children. It was while living in Dorset, aged 11, that Doherty began playing guitar, originally in an attempt to impress a female classmate, Emily Baker. He achieved 11 GCSEs, 7 of which were A* grades, at Nicholas Chamberlaine Comprehensive School in Bedworth and four passes at A-Level, two at grade A. At the age of 16, he won a poetry competition and embarked on a tour of Russia organised by the British Council.
The Libertines are an English rock band, formed in London in 1997 by frontmen Carl Barât (vocals/guitar) and Pete Doherty (vocals/guitar). The band, centred on the songwriting partnership of Barât and Doherty, has also included John Hassall (bass) and Gary Powell (drums) for most of its recording career. The band was part of the garage rock revival and spearheaded the movement in the UK.
The band gained some notoriety in the early 2000s. Although their mainstream success was initially limited, their profile soon grew, culminating in a No. 2 single and No. 1 album on the UK Charts. In December 2004, their self-titled second album was voted the second best album of the year by NME magazine. The first two of their full-length LPs were produced by Mick Jones, of the British punk band The Clash.
In spite of their critical and commercial success, the band's music was often eclipsed by its internal conflicts, stemming from Doherty's addictions to crack cocaine and heroin, which eventually led to the breakup of the band. Doherty has since stated that the breakup of the band was due to relationship difficulties between Barât and himself that were not related to his drug addictions. The members of The Libertines went on to form new bands with varying degrees of success.

In this video, she answers how she chose her business name, how WKD started mostly with stockings and evolved to selling corsets, how she's seen the industry change in the past 15 years, what she thinks of the waist training trend, the variety of her customer base, and her business transparency regarding outsourced manufacturing. https://lucycorsetry.com/2015/09/22/interview-with-katie-thomas-of-what-katie-did/ I upload 1-2 videos a week - usually Fridays, and occasionally one other day. Oh watcha gonna do, Katie?
You're a sweet sweet girl.
But it's a cruel, cruel world
a cruel, cruel world.
My pins are none too strong, Katie
Oh hurry up Mrs Brown
I can feel 'em coming down
& it won't take none too long
But since you said goodbye
The polka dots fill my eye
And I don't know why
Shoop, shoop, shoop de-lang de-lang
Shoop, shoop, shoop de-lang de-lang
Shoop, shoop, shoop de-lang de-lang

Oh watcha gonna do, Katie?
You're a sweet sweet girl.
But it's a cruel, cruel world
a cruel, cruel world.
My pins are none too strong
They hold my life together
And I never say never say never
I never say never say never again
Oh but since you said goodbye
The polka dots fill my eye
And I don't know why
Since you said goodbye
The polka dots fill my eyes
And I don't know why
Say you want
Say you will
Say you won't but don't leave me standing
Say you will, it's up to anyone
That's what they all like to know
...
And since you said goodbye
The polka dots fill my eye
And I don't know why
