Road to ... refers to a series of seven comedy films starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour. They are also often referred to as the "Road" pictures or the "Road" series. The movies were a combination of adventure, comedy, romance, and music. The minimal plot often took a back seat to gags, many of them supposedly ad-libbed by Crosby and Hope during filming.
Each film is not simply a comedic film, but a satire of some of the popular film genres of the day, including jungle, Arabian nights, Alaskan adventure, and high seas. The final film not only comes much later, but involves a newer genre; Hong Kong spoofs the spy films of the sixties.
In 1977, an eighth Road to ... movie was planned, titled Road to the Fountain of Youth; however, Crosby died that year of a heart attack.
In 1947, Astor Pictures released a compilation film of several of Crosby's Educational Pictures short subjects called The Road to Hollywood to evoke the series.
Road to Ruin, or The Road to Ruin may refer to:
Foo Fighters is an American rock band, formed in Seattle in 1994. It was founded by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project following the death of Kurt Cobain and the resulting dissolution of his previous band. The group got its name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known collectively as foo fighters.
Prior to the release of Foo Fighters' 1995 debut album Foo Fighters, which featured Grohl as the only official member, Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, both formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate, as well as Nirvana touring guitarist Pat Smear to complete the lineup. The band began with performances in Portland, Oregon. Goldsmith quit during the recording of the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997), when most of the drum parts were re-recorded by Grohl himself. Smear's departure followed soon afterward.
The Road is a 2006 novel by American writer Cormac McCarthy. It is a post-apocalyptic tale of a journey of a father and his young son over a period of several months, across a landscape blasted by an unspecified cataclysm that has destroyed most of civilization and, in the intervening years, almost all life on Earth. The novel was awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction in 2006.
The book was adapted to a film by the same name in 2009, directed by John Hillcoat.
An unnamed father and his young son journey across a grim post-apocalyptic landscape, some years after an unspecified disaster has caused another extinction event, destroying civilization and most life on Earth. The land is filled with ash and devoid of living animals and vegetation. Many of the remaining human survivors have resorted to cannibalism, scavenging the detritus of city and country alike for flesh. The boy's mother, pregnant with him at the time of the disaster, gave up hope and committed suicide some time before the story began, despite the father's pleas. Much of the book is written in the third person, with references to "the father" and "the son" or to "the man" and "the boy".
"Long Road to Ruin" is the second single from the Foo Fighters' sixth studio album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. The music video was released on November 1, 2007, with the single released on December 3, 2007. The video features an appearance by actress Rashida Jones, and was directed by Jesse Peretz, who had previously collaborated with the band for "Big Me", "Learn to Fly", "The One", and "Low".
"Long Road to Ruin" topped the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for seven consecutive weeks and reached number two on the Mainstream Rock Tracks in late 2008. It peaked at number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's number-one position on the Modern Rock chart, gave the Foo Fighters a record-setting feat by becoming the first act to reach number one on the chart in each of four consecutive years.
In the United Kingdom, "Long Road to Ruin" peaked in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart and number one on the UK Rock Chart.
In his latest book, Jim Rickards warns that the coming financial crisis will be unlike the 1998 and 2008 crises. There will be no massive money printing to pave over the crumbling system. Rickards joins us to discuss what to expect...and how to prepare. Be sure to visit http://www.ronpaullibertyreport.com for more libertarian commentary.

Building on his previous two books (Currency Wars, and Death of the Dollar (which is more accurately referred to as ""The Likely Severe Loss of Confidence of the Current International Monetary System and it's Likely Replacements & What You Can Do To Protect Your Savings"") this book explores how the next crisis will actually play out. Why it won't be solved by injecting more liquidity (as in 2008), but will rather be addressed with somethign cryptically referred to as ICE-9. Music video by Foo Fighters performing Long Road To Ruin. (C) 2007 Roswell Records, Inc.
Lets Go
drifting through the streets and there's nothing i can do
suffering brutality, fighting for no clue
life seems sad and hopeless, but no one really cares
toxic food and air pollution, future really scares
(chorus)
get yourself together - don't be such a fool
this life is your own life - you're gonna rule
take your chance to realize - the ideas in your head
this sick world we live in - soon it will be dead
life feels like a horror movie, called hell on earth
just turn on the tv news, peace ain't got a worth
daily it's the same, hunger, war and pain
but people react dull, seeing thousand others slain
(chorus X 2)
get yourself together - don't be such a fool
this life is your own life - you're gonna rule
take your chance to realize - the ideas in your head
this sick world we live in - soon it will be dead
life feels like a horror movie, called hell on earth
just turn on the tv news, peace ain't got a worth
daily it's the same, hunger, war and pain
but people react dull, seeing thousand others slain.
(chorus)
