Down in Albion is the debut album by Babyshambles, Pete Doherty's post-Libertines band.
Down in Albion was released on 14 November 2005 on Rough Trade Records, although it was leaked on to the Internet on 19 October 2005. Produced by Mick Jones, Down in Albion contains a rerecorded version of their second single "Killamangiro" as well as a reggae track, "Pentonville". The influence of The Clash has been noted on songs such as "À rebours" and "The 32nd of December". The inclusion of "Albion" is controversial among fans, due to the song's history as a fan favorite from the days of The Libertines. Down in Albion,
The first track, "La Belle et la Bête" (French for "Beauty and the Beast"), features the vocals of Doherty's then-girlfriend Kate Moss, and "Pentonville" was written by Doherty and The General, a friend he met whilst an inmate in Pentonville Prison. The album was seen as a move away from The Libertines' style of music.
The artwork for the album was created by Doherty.
John Knight is the name of:
Albion (Ancient Greek: Ἀλβίων) is the oldest known name of the island of Great Britain. Today, it is still sometimes used poetically to refer to the island. The name for Scotland in the Celtic languages is related to Albion: Alba in Scottish Gaelic, Alba (genitive Alban, dative Albain) in Irish, Nalbin in Manx and Alban in Welsh, Cornish and Breton. These names were later Latinised as Albania and Anglicised as Albany, which were once alternative names for Scotland.
New Albion and Albionoria ("Albion of the North") were briefly suggested as names of Canada during the period of the Canadian Confederation. Captain Arthur Phillip originally named the Sydney Cove "New Albion", but for uncertain reasons the colony acquired the name "Sydney".
The Brittonic name for the island, Hellenized as Albíōn (Ἀλβίων) and Latinized as Albio (genitive Albionis), derives from the Proto-Celtic nasal stem *Albi̯iū (oblique *Albiion-) and survived in Old Irish as Albu (genitive Albann). The name originally referred to Britain as a whole, but was later restricted to Caledonia (giving the modern Scottish Gaelic name for Scotland, Alba). The root *albiio- is also found in Gaulish and Galatian albio- ("world") and Welsh elfydd (elbid, "earth, world, land, country, district"). It may be related to other European and Mediterranean toponyms such as Alpes and Albania. It has two possible etymologies: either *albho-, a Proto-Indo-European root meaning "white" (perhaps in reference to the white southern shores of the island, though Celtic linguist Xavier Delamarre argued that it originally meant "the world above, the visible world", in opposition to "the world below", i.e., the underworld), or *alb-, Proto-Indo-European for "hill".
The Libertines are an English rock band, formed in London in 1997 by frontmen Carl Barât (vocals/guitar) and Pete Doherty (vocals/guitar). The band, centred on the songwriting partnership of Barât and Doherty, has also included John Hassall (bass) and Gary Powell (drums) for most of its recording career. The band was part of the garage rock revival and spearheaded the movement in the UK.
The band gained some notoriety in the early 2000s. Although their mainstream success was initially limited, their profile soon grew, culminating in a No. 2 single and No. 1 album on the UK Charts. In December 2004, their self-titled second album was voted the second best album of the year by NME magazine. The first two of their full-length LPs were produced by Mick Jones, of the British punk band The Clash.
In spite of their critical and commercial success, the band's music was often eclipsed by its internal conflicts, stemming from Doherty's addictions to crack cocaine and heroin, which eventually led to the breakup of the band. Doherty has since stated that the breakup of the band was due to relationship difficulties between Barât and himself that were not related to his drug addictions. The members of The Libertines went on to form new bands with varying degrees of success.
A knight (/naɪt/) is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a monarch or other political leader for service to the Monarch or country, especially in a military capacity. Historically, in Europe, knighthood has been conferred upon mounted warriors. During the High Middle Ages, knighthood was considered a class of lower nobility. By the Late Middle Ages, the rank had become associated with the ideals of chivalry, a code of conduct for the perfect courtly Christian warrior. Often, a knight was a vassal who served as a fighter for a lord, with payment in the form of land holdings. The lords trusted the knights, who were skilled in battle on horseback. Since the early modern period, the title of knight is purely honorific, usually bestowed by a monarch, as in the British honours system, often for non-military service to the country. The modern female equivalent is Dame.

Those possessing headphones, please use them and turn the volume up. Those with hearing aids, please turn them down. I post this footage on behalf of 33hirtz. His remains were found at the crossroads, but his camera survived. I told him not to practice driving on the "right" side of the road as there are many Range Rovers in Surrey and the Diddyvan is no match in a head-on. He was a good chap and professed a love of nature but I knew what he was really up to. Mucking around in the woods at all hours with things he knew nothing of. I told the little git many times, if you have no clue about the true meaning of the salmon of wisdom, leave well alone, laddie. WARNING/ACHTUNG ! Those of you nervous of driving on the left, please don't watch the beginning. Those afrai...
Keith, my brother in law, first saw this 1908 Albion lorry ("Not a car Liz!") on their neighbour's farm at Berowra N.S.W. That was in 1946 and he was only 13 years old. The old Scottish neighbour said "Keith I'll sell it to you for Ten Poonds, but if you can drive it away I'll give it to you for noothin." After school and in between milkings on their dairy farm, Keith with some help from his brothers cleaned down the engine, prised it out of the dirt and with the help of keroscene, instead of rationed petrol, he got the Albion lorry to go and drove it home! He used it on his various farms in NSW and for special historic events. Now Keith and his Albion are enjoying retirement to Dorrigo. It now resides in a shed with brother Rod's 1911 Albion car. They are known locally as the "...

Sit right down cause you're a friend
You know there ain't too many left of them
You said I want love, I want it all
You look better now than last time
But you still look better from afar
The life that you wanted was not in store
You're being the dark horse again
Hello, Hello
Hello, My Love
Stop your moaning and I'll give you a taster
They give you and line and they call you a waster
Give you a line, oh what a waster
So don't!
You say you will or you won't
Do or you don't
Cause you look better now than the last time
But you're still no better than before
The life that you wanted wasn't in store
You're being the dark horse again
Hello, Hello
Hello, My Love
When it suits you, you're a friend of mine
Cause you look better now than the last time
But you're still no better than before
The life that you wanted wasn't in store
You're being the dark horse again
Cause you look better now than the last time
But you're still no better than before
The life that you wanted wasn't in store
You're being the dark horse again
