Arcadia
Arcadia (Greek: Αρκαδία, Arkadía) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the administrative region of Peloponnese. It is situated in the central and eastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It takes its name from the mythological character Arcas. In Greek mythology, it was the home of the god Pan. In European Renaissance arts, Arcadia was celebrated as an unspoiled, harmonious wilderness.
Geography
Arcadia has its present-day capital at Tripoli. It covers about 18% of the Peloponnese peninsula, making it the largest regional unit on the peninsula. Arcadia has a ski resort on Mount Mainalo, located about 20 km NW of Tripoli. Other mountains of Arcadia are the Parnon in the southeast and the Lykaion in the west.
The climate consists of hot summers and mild winters in the eastern part, the southern part, the low-lying areas and the central area at altitudes lower than 1,000 m. The area primarily receives rain during fall and winter months in the rest of Arcadia. Winter snow occurs commonly in the mountainous areas for much of the west and the northern part, the Taygetus area, the Mainalon.

The beginning of the Indian Summer is the time of the ‘Leaf Peepers.’ Whether they travel to the park by car, foot, horse and carriage or by way of a rented mountain bike, visitors to Acadia’s beautiful forests have a wide selection of leaves from which to choose. During fall, the red and orange of the maple trees and the golden yellow hues of aspen and birch melt together in a breathtaking carpet of colour that seems to cover the entire country. Ο οικογενειακός τάφος του Βίκτωρα Γεωργίου Παπαγιαννόπουλου που είναι ο απόγονος της οικογένειας Παπαγιαννόπουλου-Δεληγιάννη-Λίθινου-Λίτινα-Λατίνου η οποία διεδραμάτισε πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο στην Αρκαδία κατά την Επανάσταση του 1821 , στην ιστορία της Κρήτης που αποτελούσε φέουδό της οικογενείας από το 1182μ.Χ., στο βυζάντιο και στην αρχαία Ρώμη όπου οι γενάρχες της οικογένειας ήσαν συγκλητικοί και ιδρυτές του Παλατίνου της αρχαίας Ρώμης και ήσαν απόγονοι του Πελασγού από την αρχαία Αρκαδία. Ο τάφος έχει κυρηχθεί διατηρητέο μνημείο από το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού και βρίσκεται στο νεκροταφείο του Ι.Ν. της "Μεταμόρφωσης του Σωτήρος" στην Τρίπολη.

Πολεμικό Μουσείο. Ιδρύθηκε το Φεβρουάριο του 2000 και στεγάζεται στο ισόγειο του σπιτιού του Μαλλιαρόπουλου στην κεντρική πλατεία του Αγίου Βασιλείου. Περιλαμβάνει κυρίως εκθέματα από τον αγώνα του 1821, όπως και του πολέμου του 1940. Ξεχωρίζουν το εκμαγείο του Θεόδωρου Κολοκοτρώνη, η προτομή του και συλλογές όπλων και σπαθιών από την Επανάσταση.

Η Τρίπολη είναι μια ολοζώντανη πόλη, ούτε δυο ώρες με το αυτοκίνητο από την Αθήνα. Έχει κρατήσει όλη της την αρχοντιά και είναι ένα πρότυπο ανάπτυξης από τη μια και παράδοσης από την άλλη. Με σπουδαία εμπορική και παραγωγική ιστορία, είναι ταυτόχρονα μια πόλη φιλόξενη, ζεστή, με ανθρώπινους ρυθμούς και μοναδικό χρώμα.
Η πόλη έχει απέραντη ιστορία. Κατά πάσα πιθανότητά το όνομά της το οφείλει στην συνένωση των αρχαίων πόλεων της Μαντινείας, της Τεγέας και του Παλλαντίου. Συναντάται ήδη στα ενετικά αρχεία του 15ου αιώνα ως Droboliza. Από το 17ο αιώνα και μετά γίνεται το κέντρο του Μοριά. Με ανεπτυγμένο εμπόριο, με πολλούς τεχνίτες, γίνεται μία πολυάνθρωπη πολιτεία όπου συρρέουν περιηγητές και στρατοκόποι, κατάσκοποι και ελληνολάτρεις. Γίνεται το σύμβολο της Επανάστασης, η ηρωική Τριπολιτσά του Κολοκοτρώνη και του Κεφάλα.
Μετά την απελευθέρωση έχει μια ραγδαία ανάπτυξη, τόσο εμπορική όσο και πολιτιστική. Η ανέγερση νεοκλασικών κτηρίων της προσδίδει κοσμοπολίτικο χαρακτήρα. Ο Βασιλιάς Όθωνας ονειρεύεται να χτίσει εδώ το ησυχαστήριό του και η ευρωπαϊκή διανόηση έρχεται στην Τρίπολη για να αποτίσει φόρο τιμής στους αδάμαστους Αρκάδες. Ο μύθος της αιώνιας Αρκαδίας κατακτά ολοκληρωτικά τον κόσμο. Και η Τρίπολη βρίσκεται ακριβώς στην καρδιά αυτού του μύθου.
Από την Τρίπολη αρχίζει η όμορφη περιπέτεια της ανακάλυψης της Αρκαδίας. Ατενίζοντας τα αιώνια βουνά από την πλατεία του Άρεως, μπορεί κάποιος να αποφασίσει ποια πτυχή της Αρκαδίας θέλει να εξερευνήσει αυτή τη φορά. Γιατί ασφαλώς θα υπάρξουν πολλές. Κανένας δεν έρχεται μία μόνο φορά στην Αρκαδία.

Στην πόλη υπήρχε το ιερό της Αλέας Αθηνάς το οποίο είχε κατασκευάσει ο Σκόπας την εποχή που άρχοντας της Αθήνας ήταν ο Διόφαντος. Σύμφωνα με την μυθολογία ο ναός ονομάστηκε έτσι από τον Αλέα εγγονό του Αρκάδα που τον είχε χτίσει. Μέσα στο ιερό μέσα υπήρχε άγαλμα της Αθηνάς από ελεφαντόδοντο, άγαλμα του Ασκληπιού , άγαλμα της Υγείας και τα δόντια του Ερυμάνθιου κάπρου τα οποία όταν οι Ρωμαίοι προσάρτησαν την περιοχή στην Ρωμαϊκή αυτοκρατορία τα μετέφεραν στην Ρώμη. Η Θεά Αθηνά ήταν η πολιούχος της πόλης και προς τιμήν της γίνονταν οι αγώνες Αλεαία. Σήμερα ο ναός δεν υπάρχει πλέον και λέγεται ότι τμήματά του χρησιμοποιήθηκαν στην ανοικοδόμηση του ναού της Παναγίας που βρίσκεται κοντά στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο.
Στην Τεγέα υπήρχε και δεύτερο ιερό της Αθηνάς Πολιάτιδος. Στην αγορά της πόλης υπήρχε ιερό της Αφροδίτης. Διέθετε Γυμνάσιο, θέατρο, Στάδιο, Αγορά και Βουλή με τριακόσιους βουλευτές. Οι κάτοικοι την περίοδο της ακμής της έφταναν τους 40.000 και η πόλη έκοβε δικό της νόμισμα.
Επιφανείς Τεγεάτες ήταν οι ποιητές Κλονάς και Ανύτη, ο ιστορικός Αρίανθος, ο τραγικός Αρίσταρχος, οι νομοθέτες Αντισθένης και Κρίσος. Οι ήρωες Αγκαίος και Έποχος, η Αταλάντη, ο Έχεμος, ο Αγαπήνορας και η Διοτίμα. Εδώ επίσης είχε γεννηθεί, κατά τη μυθολογία, και ο Πάνας.

Η πόλη καταστράφηκε από τους Γότθους το 395 μ.χ. και σταδιακά ερήμωσε. Αργότερα στη θέση της χτίστηκε το Νύκλι το οποίο κατά την Φραγκοκρατία αποτέλεσε Βαρωνία. Σήμερα έχει ανασκαφεί και είναι επισκέψιμος αρχαιολογικός χώρος στον οποίο λειτουργεί και το μουσείο της Τεγέας, ενώ η ευρύτερη περιοχή, με ευρήματα από ρωμαϊκά ψηφιδωτά και μεσαιωνικά τείχη αποτελεί αρχαιολογικό πάρκο. Βρίσκεται δίπλα στο χωριό Αλέα της Μαντινείας, 10 χιλιόμετρα από την Τρίπολη.

Karon Beach is one of the most scenic spots on Phuket Island. The white sandy beach lies next to the crystal clear blue Andaman Sea, decorated with colorful parasols and shady pine trees. You will enjoy sunbathing and seeing the spectacular panoramic view of the sunset beyond the sea.Karon, the second largest of Phuket's principal west coast beaches, is quiet and relaxed. Lots of good local restaurants and a good range of accommodation from small guesthouses to family resorts. The beach has lots of room and is rarely crowded. Snorkelling at the southern end which has a coral reef stretching toward Kata and a small offshore island (Boo Island.) From November to April, Karon offers perfect conditions, but from May to October swimming can be dangerous because of strong undertows, so observe the warning flags.

Чуть севернее этих монстров, находится Aroona Plaza, где расположены многочисленные магазины сувениров, предметов кустарного творчества, хороших ресторанов, кафе, несколько баров и отель представляющий модель китайско-португальской архитектуры старого Пхукета.
