Everyone. This song is not against christians. It's about how people use the name of God for their own agenda!
I'm an atheist, but whether you're christian, muslim or buddhist do not take offence in this song. And those of you, who like me, do not belive in god: This song is not to be taking literally. You should think about some of the stuff he says, like the opening line, "God thinks all blacks are obsolete farm equipment". That was what the whites first claimed. Hitler was against Jews, and said that God was too, Some people claims that whites are like Satan, and so on..
So when he sings, "they know what God thinks" he means that people keep claiming that they know what God really thinks, and then they use it against whoever they dislike.

Candide, ou l'Optimisme is a French satire first published in 1759 by Voltaire, a philosopher of the Age of Enlightenment. The novella has been widely translated, with English versions titled Candide: or, All for the Best (1759); Candide: or, The Optimist (1762); and Candide: or, Optimism (1947). It begins with a young man, Candide, who is living a sheltered life in an paradise and being indoctrinated with Leibnizian optimism (or simply Optimism) by his mentor, Pangloss. The work describes the abrupt cessation of this lifestyle, followed by Candide's slow, painful disillusionment as he witnesses and experiences great hardships in the world. Voltaire concludes with Candide, if not rejecting optimism outright, advocating a deeply practical precept, "we must cultivate our garden", in lieu of the Leibnizian mantra of Pangloss, "all is for the best in the best of all possible worlds".
Candide is characterised by its sarcastic tone, as well as by its erratic, fantastical and fast-moving plot. A picaresque novel with a story similar to that of a more serious bildungsroman, it parodies many adventure and romance clichés, the struggles of which are caricatured in a tone that is mordantly matter-of-fact. Still, the events discussed are often based on historical happenings, such as the Seven Years' War and the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. As philosophers of Voltaire's day contended with the problem of evil, so too does Candide in this short novel, albeit more directly and humorously. Voltaire ridicules religion, theologians, governments, armies, philosophies, and philosophers through allegory; most conspicuously, he assaults Leibniz and his optimism.
As expected by Voltaire, Candide has enjoyed both great success and great scandal. Immediately after its secretive publication, the book was widely banned because it contained religious blasphemy, political sedition and intellectual hostility hidden under a thin veil of naïveté. However, with its sharp wit and insightful portrayal of the human condition, the novel has since inspired many later authors and artists to mimic and adapt it. Today, Candide is recognised as Voltaire's magnum opus and is often listed as part of the Western canon; it is arguably taught more than any other work of French literature.

Biography
François-Marie Arouet was born in Paris, the youngest of the five children (three of whom survived) of François Arouet (1650 – 1 January 1722), a lawyer who was a minor treasury official, and his wife, Marie Marguerite d'Aumart (ca. 1660 – 13 July 1701), from a noble family of the province of Poitou. Some speculation surrounds his date of birth, which Voltaire always claimed to be 20 February 1694. Voltaire was educated by the Jesuits at the Collège Louis-le-Grand (1704–1711), where he learned Latin and Greek; later in life he became fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English.

STORY:
A young boy named Traver, finds himself in the Tavern in a town by the sea.
there he meets Captain Teller, an old man who warns him and tells him the tale of The Beast of Pirates Bay. Though, the Captain seems to have another motive behind his intimidating guise.
Could all be what it seems?

this is the animation Film my team and i in school completed for our Final year project for our animation course in collage! a slight dream come true for i have always wanted to make a decent video for Voltair's songs and it had finally been partly accomplished
WE WON'T BE MAKING A VIDEO FOR THE FULL SONG.
mainly because it would become a solo project if i were to finish the verses we had to remove. reason for shortening the song was because we had a deadline to meet and it was extremely risky to attempt to animate the full song. but, if i have the time and motivation in the far off future, i might attempt to finish the last bits we removed.
i take credit for the how we portrayed each verse, we did draw inspiration from other videos and content that was uploaded on the internet but we did not copy nor steal anything in this video. everything here is original besides the song itself.
i had added the official copywrite credits in the end of the video and i do have Voltaire's permission to use his song.
all in all, do enjoy our rendition. ask if you wish to use anything

Candide est un conte philosophique de Voltaire paru à Genève en janvier 1759. Il a été réédité vingt fois du vivant de l'auteur (plus de cinquante aujourd'hui), ce qui en fait un des plus grands succès littéraires français.
Candide porte le titre complet de Candide ou l'Optimisme, soi-disant traduit des additions du Docteur Ralph qui, en réalité, n'est que le pseudonyme utilisé par Voltaire pour éviter la censure. Cette œuvre, ironique dès les premières lignes, ne laisse aucun doute sur l'origine de l'auteur, qui ne pouvait qu'être du parti des philosophes : « Les anciens domestiques soupçonnaient que [Candide] était fils de la sœur de Monsieur le Baron et d'un bon et honnête gentilhomme du voisinage, que cette demoiselle ne voulut jamais épouser parce qu'il n'avait pu prouver que soixante et onze quartiers, et que le reste de son arbre généalogique avait été perdu par l'injure du temps1. »
On perçoit immédiatement, dans la fin de ce premier paragraphe de l'œuvre, le sarcasme moquant le conservatisme social de la noblesse arrogante, certes tel que Molière un siècle plus tôt le pratiquait aux dépens de la petite aristocratie provinciale2, mais surtout annonçant le Figaro de Beaumarchais : « Si le Ciel l'eût voulu, je serais fils d'un prince3. » Candide est également un récit de formation, récit d'un voyage qui transformera son héros éponyme en philosophe, un Télémaque d'un genre nouveau.
L'onomastique4, en matière d'interprétation des textes voltairiens, se révèle souvent féconde. Le mot « candide » vient du latin candide ou candidus qui signifie blanc et a pour second sens « de bonne foi, avec candeur, simplement ». Le choix d'un tel nom indiquerait l'innocence du héros, voire sa naïveté. Cire vierge sur laquelle on marque en apparence tout, il s'étonnera de ce qu'il observera au fil de ses tribulations, à la façon apparemment enfantine de Socrate dans les dialogues platoniciens, personnifiant ainsi, selon l'étymologie du mot, l'ironie — εἰρωνεία (eironeia) —, l'ignorance feinte. Candide est un conte philosophique de Voltaire paru à Genève en janvier 1759. Il a été réédité vingt fois du vivant de l'auteur (plus de cinquante aujourd'hui), ce qui en fait un des plus grands succès littéraires français.
Candide porte le titre complet de Candide ou l'Optimisme, soi-disant traduit des additions du Docteur Ralph qui, en réalité, n'est que le pseudonyme utilisé par Voltaire pour éviter la censure. Cette œuvre, ironique dès les premières lignes, ne laisse aucun doute sur l'origine de l'auteur, qui ne pouvait qu'être du parti des philosophes : « Les anciens domestiques soupçonnaient que [Candide] était fils de la sœur de Monsieur le Baron et d'un bon et honnête gentilhomme du voisinage, que cette demoiselle ne voulut jamais épouser parce qu'il n'avait pu prouver que soixante et onze quartiers, et que le reste de son arbre généalogique avait été perdu par l'injure du temps1. »
On perçoit immédiatement, dans la fin de ce premier paragraphe de l'œuvre, le sarcasme moquant le conservatisme social de la noblesse arrogante, certes tel que Molière un siècle plus tôt le pratiquait aux dépens de la petite aristocratie provinciale2, mais surtout annonçant le Figaro de Beaumarchais : « Si le Ciel l'eût voulu, je serais fils d'un prince3. » Candide est également un récit de formation, récit d'un voyage qui transformera son héros éponyme en philosophe, un Télémaque d'un genre nouveau.
L'onomastique4, en matière d'interprétation des textes voltairiens, se révèle souvent féconde. Le mot « candide » vient du latin candide ou candidus qui signifie blanc et a pour second sens « de bonne foi, avec candeur, simplement ». Le choix d'un tel nom indiquerait l'innocence du héros, voire sa naïveté. Cire vierge sur laquelle on marque en apparence tout, il s'étonnera de ce qu'il observera au fil de ses tribulations, à la façon apparemment enfantine de Socrate dans les dialogues platoniciens, personnifiant ainsi, selon l'étymologie du mot, l'ironie — εἰρωνεία (eironeia) —, l'ignorance feinte.
