Bute (/ˈbjuːt/; also known as the Isle of Bute, Scottish Gaelic: Eilean Bhòid or Eilean Bhòdach) is an island in the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. It is divided into highland and lowland areas by the Highland Boundary Fault. Formerly a constituent island of the larger County of Bute, it is now part of the council area of Argyll and Bute. Bute's resident population was 6,498 in 2011, a decline of just over 10% from the figure of 7,228 recorded in 2001 against a background of Scottish island populations as a whole growing by 4% to 103,702 for the same period.
Bute lies in the Firth of Clyde. The only town on the island, Rothesay, (NS087645) is linked by ferry to the mainland. Hamlets on the island include Kilchattan Bay, Kingarth and Port Bannatyne.
Bute is divided in two by the Highland Boundary Fault. North of the fault the island is hilly and largely uncultivated with extensive areas of forestry. The highest point is Windy Hill at 278 metres (912 ft). To the south of the fault the terrain is smoother and highly cultivated although in the far south is to be found the island's most rugged terrain around Glen Callum. Loch Fad is Bute's largest body of freshwater and runs along the fault line.
The Isle is a 2000 South Korean film written and directed by Kim Ki-duk. The film was the fifth film made by Kim, and the first to receive wider international acclaim for his recognizable style. It also became notorious for being difficult to watch, with stories of viewers vomiting or passing out during the more gruesome scenes when the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
The Isle stars Seo Jeong and Kim Yu-seok as an unlikely couple who develop a love for each other despite the unusual circumstances.
Seo Jeong plays the mute Hee-jin, who operates a fishing resort, where she rents out small floating cottages and ferries her customers back and forth between land and the floats, controlling the only means of transport around. She also dispassionately takes care of her customers' needs by selling supplies, providing prostitutes from a local tabang or occasionally acting as one herself. However, when a man running from the law, Hyun-shik (Kim Yu-seok), comes to the resort, a bond starts to form between them.
Charlie McGuire talks about Rothesay, Isle of Bute when it was once a popular Holiday Resort.

Day trip to the Isle of Bute, during my Erasmus Exchange in Scotland 2016
Join Phil Vickery as he discovers the beauty of more of our great British isles.
The wonderful Isle of Bute, with film of Rothesay, Kilchattan & Ettrick Bays and a nostalgic look around Port Bannatyne. This unfortunately is a forgotten island because since the days of foreign travel the folk from Glasgow don't "sail doon the water" anymore and frequent these shores.
Hello internet! So we cycled around the middle part of the island today and it was fab :) - LINKS - CHECK OUT MY WEBSITE: http://www.jordansheehyvideography.com FOLLOW ME ON FACEBOOK: http://facebook.com/jordansheehy1997 FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER: http://twitter.com/jordansheeehy LIKE MY FACEBOOK PAGE: http://facebook.com/jordansheehyvideo FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/jordansheeehy VIEW MY SNAPCHAT STORIES: jordan_sheehy

A visit to Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute, 5 september 2016.
Just a peaceful day off, travelling to the Isle of Bute, cycling to Scalpsie Bay.
Mount Stuart House on the east coast of the Isle of Bute, Scotland, is a Gothic Revival country house and the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute. It was designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson for the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the late 1870s, replacing an earlier house by Alexander McGill, which burnt down in 1877. The house is a Category A listed building. The house is the seat of the Stuarts of Bute, derived from the hereditary office "Steward of Bute" held since 1157. The family are direct male-line descendants of John Stewart, the illegitimate son of King Robert II of Scotland, the first Stuart King, by his mistress, Moira Leitch. By virtue of this descent, they are also descendants of Robert the Bruce, whose daughter Marjorie was mother of Robert II by her marriage to Walter Stewar...
