Exposition Ron Mueck.
Du 16 avril au 29 septembre 2013, la Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain invite le sculpteur australien Ron Mueck à présenter ses œuvres émouvantes et troublantes, marquant son grand retour institutionnel en Europe.
Après le succès de 2005 à la Fondation Cartier, cette nouvelle exposition personnelle est la plus complète et la plus actuelle de la production de l'artiste. Elle dévoilera notamment, outre six œuvres récentes, trois sculptures réalisées spécialement pour l'exposition. Ces œuvres, révélées dans l'intimité de leur création à travers un film inédit, réaffirment toute la modernité d'un art à fleur de peau, aussi puissant qu'évocateur.

Ron Mueck (Melbourne, Australia, 1958) is an Australian sculptor. Mueck makes since 1996 hyper-realistic images in modern materials, combinations of silicone and fiberglass. He creates images in various sizes, from tiny to very large. In addition, he uses a lot of realistic material, such goose bumps, hairs and veins. In 1986 he did the special effects of Labyrinth, a fantasy movie with David Bowie. In 1990 he started his own production company to make models for the European advertising industry.

l went to the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art to check out the Ron Mueck collection. All l can say is... it was AMAZING! If not a little creepy. lf you get a chance to see his art work, DO IT! He is a hyper realist sculptor, and he uses polyester resin, fibreglass, silicone, polyurethane, wood, and synthetic hair.

Ron Mueck has been invited to present his new sculpture at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain from April 16 to October 27 2013. This is his first major exhibition in Europe since the hugely successful Fondation Cartier exhibition of 2005.
In addition to six important recent sculptures the show includes three produced especially for this event. A new film recording their creation has been made for the occasion by Gautier Deblonde. Revealing the reclusive artist at work further emphasizes the sensitivity and power of Ron Mueck's sculpture and highlights its particular resonance for our time.

Ronald "Ron" Mueck (English pronunciation: /mjuːɛk/ or /muːɪk/; born 1958, Melbourne) is an Australian hyperrealist sculptor working in the United Kingdom.
Ron Mueck began his career working on the Australian children's television program Shirl's Neighbourhood. He was the creative director and made, voiced and operated the puppets Greenfinger the Garden Gnome, Ol' Possum, Stanley the snake and Claude the Crow amongst many others. The show was made for Channel 7 Melbourne between 1979 and 1984, broadcast nationally and starred the ex-lead singer of Skyhooks, Graeme "Shirley" Strachan.
Mueck's early career was as a model maker and puppeteer for children's television and films, notably the film Labyrinth for which he also contributed the voice of Ludo, and the Jim Henson series The Storyteller.
Mueck moved on to establish his own company in London, making photo-realistic props and animatronics for the advertising industry. Although highly detailed, these props were usually designed to be photographed from one specific angle hiding the mess of construction seen from the other side. Mueck increasingly wanted to produce realistic sculptures which looked perfect from all angles.

David Keith Lynch (born January 20, 1946) is an American filmmaker, television director, visual artist, comic book artist, musician and occasional actor. Known for his surrealist films, he has developed his own unique cinematic style, which has been dubbed "Lynchian", and which is characterized by its dream imagery, and meticulous sound design. The surreal, and in many cases violent, elements to his films have earned them the reputation that they "disturb, offend or mystify" their audiences.
Born to a middle class family in Missoula, Montana, Lynch spent his childhood traveling around the United States, before going on to study painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, where he first made the transition to producing short films. Deciding to devote himself more fully to this medium, he moved to Los Angeles, where he produced his first motion picture, the surrealist horror Eraserhead (1977). After Eraserhead became a cult classic on the midnight movie circuit, Lynch was employed to direct The Elephant Man (1980), from which he gained mainstream success. Then being employed by the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group, he proceeded to make two films: the science-fiction epic Dune (1984), which proved to be a critical and commercial failure, and then a neo-noir crime film, Blue Velvet (1986), which was highly critically acclaimed.

A small studio in London. An impression of great disorder mixes with the intimate conviction that you are in an extraordinary place. Ron Mueck, a secretive artist, rarely welcomes visitors, and a meeting with him leaves an impression. His reserve cannot for long hide a very sensitive nature. At regular intervals over a period of two years, Gautier Deblonde filmed the artist as he created three works destined for his solo exhibition at the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art. Seeing Ron Mueck at work intrigues, impresses, surprises. His sculptures, and there are but a few of them, depict men and women whose expressions are familiar to us.

Ron Mueck (Melbourne, Australia, 1958) is an Australian sculptor. Mueck makes since 1996 hyper-realistic images in modern materials, combinations of silicone and fiberglass. He creates images in various sizes, from tiny to very large. In addition, he uses a lot of realistic material, such goose bumps, hairs and veins. In 1986 he did the special effects of Labyrinth, a fantasy movie with David Bowie. In 1990 he started his own production company to make models for the European advertising industry.

Ron Mueck has been invited to present his new sculpture at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain from April 16 to October 27 2013. This is his first major exhibition in Europe since the hugely successful Fondation Cartier exhibition of 2005.
In addition to six important recent sculptures the show includes three produced especially for this event. A new film recording their creation has been made for the occasion by Gautier Deblonde. Revealing the reclusive artist at work further emphasizes the sensitivity and power of Ron Mueck's sculpture and highlights its particular resonance for our time.

A small studio in London.
An impression of great disorder mixes with the intimate conviction that you are in an extraordinary place.
Ron Mueck, a secretive artist, rarely welcomes visitors, and a meeting with him leaves an impression. His reserve cannot for long hide a very sensitive nature. At regular intervals over a period of two years, Gautier Deblonde filmed the artist as he created three works destined for his solo exhibition at the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art. Seeing Ron Mueck at work intrigues, impresses, surprises. His sculptures, and there are but a few of them, depict men and women whose expressions are familiar to us. Expressions of everyday life: a troubling realism at the service of a profoundly moving art.
It is not a question of learning the techniques and knowhow of the artist, but rather of discovering why his creations meet with such popular success in the world’s most prestigious museums. The film invites us to understand what his works say to us, and to share the sensations we experience when presented with such an original take on the human condition.

This exhibition surveys a group of major works by Australian-born, London-based sculptor Ron Mueck. Muecks sculptures are some of the most widely acclaimed and identifiable works in the international contemporary art arena. Often naked and suspended in states of self-consciousness, introspection or deep contemplation, his figures present both emotional and physical states of exposure. Astounding in their realism, Muecks works have earned him a singular place as the creator of some of the most evocative sculptures of our time. Featuring celebrated works from Australian and international collections, in addition to new sculptures, it is one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of Muecks work ever presented.

Du 16 avril au 29 septembre 2013, la Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain invite le sculpteur australien Ron Mueck à présenter ses œuvres émouvantes et troublantes, marquant son grand retour institutionnel en Europe.

Vivant à Londres, Ron Mueck a exposé dans les musées du monde entier, au Japon, en Australie, en Nouvelle Zélande et au Mexique. Son exposition à la Fondation Cartier est un événement d'autant plus exceptionnel que les opportunités de voir ses œuvres sont extrêmement rares. Travaillant lentement dans son atelier londonien, il fait du temps un élément privilégié de sa création. Ses figures humaines, réalistes à l'excès, mais qui jouent sur des changements d'échelle surprenants, demeurent aussi éloignées du naturalisme académique que du pop art ou de l'hyperréalisme.

Based in London, Ron Mueck has had highly acclaimed exhibitions around the world from Japan to Australia, New Zealand and Mexico, but shows of his new work in Europe have not been frequent occurrences. Mueck works slowly in his small North London studio, making time itself an important element in his creative process. His human figures are meticulously detailed, with surprising changes of scale that place them as far from academic realism as they are from pop art or hyperrealism.

Finalmente as esculturas do australiano Ron Mueck chegam a São Paulo. Entre 20 de novembro e 22 de fevereiro, a Pinacoteca do Estado apresenta nove obras hiper-realistas do artista, que demora meses para finalizar uma única peça. Isso porque suas figuras humanas produzidas com resina, fibra de vidro, silicone e acrílico reproduzem detalhes da anatomia à perfeição. O público só não corre risco de confundir os trabalhos com pessoas de verdade porque Mueck não está preocupado com a escala real. Um jovem casal, por exemplo, tem apenas 43 centímetros de altura. Já os idosos deitados na praia chegam a 4 metros de altura. Mueck começou sua carreira fazendo bonecos para o Muppet Show (aquele da porquinha Piggy), mas seu talento foi descoberto e, hoje, suas obras podem atingir o valor de 1 milhão de dólares. A exposição traz ainda o documentário Still Life: Ron Mueck at Work, no qual é possível ver o artista trabalhando em seu ateliê em Londres.

For our third ARTIST ROOMS presentation, we are showing the work of internationally renowned sculptor Ron Mueck.
His work explores timeless themes, encouraging us as viewers to identify with the human condition. He plays with scale and placement to create dramatic narratives which link the real world with myth and folklore.
The exhibition includes work on loan from Tate/NGS ARTIST ROOMS collection and pieces from private collections rarely seen in the UK.
ARTIST ROOMS On Tour is a partnership with Arts Council England and the Art Fund, making available the ARTIST ROOMS collection of international modern and contemporary art to galleries throughout the UK. ARTIST ROOMS is jointly owned by Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland and was established through the d'Offay Donation in 2008, with the assistance of the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Art Fund and the Scottish and British Governments.

Ron Mueck has been invited to present his new sculpture at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain from April 16 to October 27 2013. This is his first major exhibition in Europe since the hugely successful Fondation Cartier exhibition of 2005.
In addition to six important recent sculptures the show includes three produced especially for this event. A new film recording their creation has been made for the occasion by Gautier Deblonde. Revealing the reclusive artist at work further emphasizes the sensitivity and power of Ron Mueck's sculpture and highlights its particular resonance for our time.

El artista, su asistente Charles Clarke y la curadora Grazia Quaroni estuvieron en Buenos Aires realizando y supervisando el montaje de la exhibición, concebida por Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain de París y que tras su paso por Fundación Proa seguirá su itinerancia latinoamericana en el Museu de Arte Moderna de Río de Janeiro de marzo a junio de 2014. #mueckenproa #ronmueck
Making of video of the installation of Ron Mueck's exhibition at Fundación Proa (Buenos Aires, Argentina), on view from November 16th 2013 to February 23rd 2014. The artist, his assistant Charles Clarke and curator Grazia Quaroni were in Buenos Aires supervising the installation of the exhibition, conceived by Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain of Paris, and which after Fundación Proa will travel to Museu de Arte Moderna of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from March to June 2014.
