Alice Dinnean-Vernon (born May 23, 1969 in Piedmont, California) is a puppeteer and creative writer who works at The Jim Henson Company. Dinnean-Vernon has performed on many children's television shows such as The Puzzle Place, Sesame Street, Bear in the Big Blue House, Cousin Skeeter, Jim Henson's Pajanimals, Sid the Science Kid and Jack's Big Music Show. She also did work on various non-Muppet productions such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
In the early 1990s, she performed additional characters for the children's TV series, Sesame Street. Some of her characters include Sherry Netherland, the owner of the Furry Arms Hotel and Phoebe also known as Groogel, a member of the segment, Monster Clubhouse, from 2001 to 2003.
Non-Muppet productions in which she has performed include the horror-humor TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. On the show, she performed as a demon puppet in As You Were and a living mummy hand in Life Serial. After the series ended in 2003, Dinnean-Vernon performed the puppet-like character of Angel in the episode Smile Time along with Peter Linz, and also performed Camilla the Chicken and Foo-Foo, on The Muppets' Wizard of Oz.
Sesame Street is a long-running American children's television series created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett. The program is known for its educational content, and images communicated through the use of Jim Henson's Muppets, animation, short films, humor, and cultural references. The series premiered on November 10, 1969, to positive reviews, some controversy, and high viewership; it has aired on the U.S.'s national public television provider (PBS) since its debut, with its first run moving to premium channel HBO on January 16, 2016.
The show has undergone significant changes throughout its history. The format of Sesame Street consists of a combination of commercial television production elements and techniques which have evolved to reflect the changes in American culture and the audience's viewing habits. With the creation of Sesame Street, producers and writers of a children's television show used, for the first time, educational goals and a curriculum to shape its content. It was also the first time a show's educational effects were studied.
James Maury "Jim" Henson (September 24, 1936 – May 16, 1990) was an American puppeteer, artist, cartoonist, inventor, screenwriter, songwriter, musician, actor, film director, and producer. Best known as the creator of the Muppets, Henson was a regular in television series and films from the mid 1950s until his death at age 53. Born in Greenville, Mississippi, and raised in Leland, Mississippi, and Hyattsville, Maryland, Henson began developing puppets while attending high school. While he was a freshman at the University of Maryland, College Park, he created Sam and Friends, a five-minute sketch-comedy puppet show that appeared on television. After graduating from the University of Maryland with a degree in home economics, he produced coffee advertisements and developed some experimental films. Feeling the need for more creative output, Henson founded Muppets Inc. in 1958 (which would later become the Jim Henson Company).
Henson garnered fame in the 1970s when he joined the children's educational television program Sesame Street, and there helped develop characters for the series. He also appeared in the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. In 1976, after scrapping plans for a Broadway show, he produced The Muppet Show. He won fame for his creations, particularly Kermit the Frog, Rowlf the Dog, and Ernie, and he was involved with Sesame Street for over 20 years. He also had frequent roles in Muppets films such as The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper and The Muppets Take Manhattan, and created advanced puppets for projects like Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. During the later years of his life, he also founded the Jim Henson Foundation, and Jim Henson's Creature Shop. His involvement in two television programs - The Storyteller and The Jim Henson Hour - led to Emmy Awards wins.

The Most Important Meal of the Day is a Sesame Street song from 1993 performed mainly by the Anything Muppets. A young boy (Peter Linz) is indignant about eating breakfast; he'd rather play. Out of nowhere, a chef (Julianne Buescher) appears and is shocked by what she hears. In an upbeat gospel song, she sings about the importance of breakfast, with a montage of people and Muppets enjoying their meal, including a tiger, a horse, Ernie, Elmo, Telly, Barkley, and Big Bird. The boy is convinced by what he hears, and asks his mother what's for breakfast. Performers (other than those noted above) include Lisa Buckley (as the boy's mother), Jim Martin, Alice Dinnean-Vernon, Fran Brill, Joey Mazzarino, and David Rudman. This song was written by Tony Geiss and directed by Lisa Simon.

This is from the Sesame Street 1996 educational resource video, Lead Away! Despite its lack of sketches, and a pretty grouchy Oscar trying to tell them they forgot to mention the blood test, it has a pretty catchy song. For those who don't know, The Lead Police are a rock group who appear in the Sesame Street educational resource video Lead Away! A parody of the popular 1980s band The Police, they perform a Police-style song about how to avoid lead poisoning. The lead singer's voice is provided by Christopher Cerf, and to me, the female singer sounds like she was voiced by Alice Dinnean (since she was credited on the program). The band were made from three Anything Muppet patterns, Green, Pumpkin and Lavender.. This song, along with Blood Test was written by Christopher Cerf, one of his fi...

In honor of today being the 45th anniversary of the first broadcast of "Sesame Street" in 1969, here's a cleaner version of one of my favorite "Sesame Street" cartoons from when I was little: the Animal Department Store Elevator! Great catchy song, and helped me learn a bit more about addition. I even remember when I was watching Episode 4162 of the show in 2008 for a review on Muppet Central, I was really happy to see this segment rerun on that episode! Animation by Buzzco Associates (C) 1989 CTW/SesameWorkshop; FAIR USE!
