Welcome to Paradise

"Welcome to Paradise" is a song by the American punk rock band Green Day. It is the fifth track from their third studio album, Dookie and was released as the second single from the album in October 1994. The original version of the song appeared on their second studio album, Kerplunk. The Dookie version was later included on the compilation album, International Superhits! in 2001. "Welcome to Paradise" is playable in the video game, Green Day: Rock Band. The song peaked at number 56 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart.

Song meaning and composition

The song was written by Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool. It is based on the band's experience moving out of their parents' houses and into an abandoned house in Oakland, California where the band members, along with a number of others, lived without paying rent. The house was quite broken-down but to them it became home, and this sentiment is described in the song.

Welcome to Paradise (album)

Welcome to Paradise is an album by Randy Stonehill, released in 1976, on Solid Rock Records. The album was produced by Larry Norman, with Andy Johns doing the engineering. Stonehill, with producer Mark Heard, titled his 1989 album, Return to Paradise, a reference to the title of this record.

This album was listed at No. 13 in the 2001 book, CCM Presents: The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music. The album includes a rerecording of "Puppet Strings" from Get Me Out of Hollywood.

"Welcome to Paradise" is the 3rd episode of the sixth season of the American series The Vampire Diaries and the series' 114th episode overall. "Welcome to Paradise" was originally aired on October 16, 2014, on The CW. The episode was written by Brian Young and directed by Michael Allowitz.

Plot

Stefan (Paul Wesley) wants to return to Mystic Falls to find Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and kill him after he has killed Ivy (Emily C. Chang). He goes to the car garage where he works and asking his boss, Dean (Jayson Warner Smith), few days off. When Dean denies it, Stefan tells him the whole truth, compels him and asks him to bury Ivy.

Elena (Nina Dobrev) organizes a party outside Mystic Falls and she invites everyone, including one of the volunteers, Liam (Marco James), from the hospital. Stefan arrives at the college and invites him as well. Stefan refuses to go but when he hears that Enzo will be there too, he changes his mind. In the meantime, Matt (Zach Roerig) invites at the party one of the Community Protection Squad members, Jay (Matthew Barnes). At the party, Elena, Caroline (Candice Accola), Matt and Tyler (Michael Trevino) meet to remember the old times and celebrate but none of them seem to have fun.

Modica

Modica (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmɔːdika]; Sicilian: Muòrica, Greek: Μότουκα, Motouka, Latin: Mutyca or Motyca) is a city and comune in the Province of Ragusa, Sicily, southern Italy. The city is situated in the Hyblaean Mountains. Its architecture has been recognised as providing outstanding testimony to the exuberant genius and final flowering of Baroque art in Europe and, along with other towns in the Val di Noto, is part of UNESCO Heritage Sites in Italy.

History

According to Thucydides, the city was founded in 1360 BC or 1031 BC and was inhabited by the Sicels in the 7th century BC. It was probably a dependency of Syracuse. Modica was occupied by the Romans after the battle of the Egadi islands against the Carthaginians in the Punic Wars 241 BC, together with Syracuse and all of Sicily. Modica became one of the thirty-five decuman ("spontaneously submitted") cities of the island and was oppressed by the praetor Verres. It became an independent municipium, and apparently a place of some consequence. The city is also mentioned among the inland towns of the island both by Pliny and Ptolemy; and though its name is not found in the Itineraries, it is again mentioned by the Geographer of Ravenna.Silius Italicus also includes it in his list of Sicilian cities, and immediately associates it with Netum (now Noto Antico), with which it was clearly in the same neighborhood. The southeast of Sicily and Modica (according to the German historian L. Hertling) was rapidly Christianized. In 535, the Byzantine general Belisarius expelled the Ostrogoths and established for Justinian I the government of the East-Roman Empire (also improperly known as the Byzantine Empire) and the already Greek-speaking population fixed their culture until the Latinization of the Normans in the 11th century.
