Adrift in a lush, nocturnal urban landscape, Nick is a post-modern urban hero asserting his anarchistic agenda on the endless maze of virgin exterior walls that comprise downtown Seattle and Portland. For writer/director Bolton's lonely "tagger" protagonist, the vast wall surfaces of deserted alleys and trainyards are at once a daunting symbol of capitalist oppression and a texturally rich, seamless tableau ripe for exploitation to amplify his artistic dialectic of anger and rebellion. His own virtually anonymous existence seemingly only secondary to the painted surfaces and "rupture the system" manifesto which more poignantly evidence his presence, Nick's prodigious solo graffiti output is interrupted by friendship with another young tagger. Their communication begins as less verbal than ...

Walter Josef Fischer—known here in Hamburg, Germany, as OZ—was a fucking legend, even if most people could never pick him out of a crowd. Aged and slow with a worn, creased face and a hunch, he walked unseen with me through Hamburg as he painted walls and swore at trains. And yet, with his spray can, he'd changed the face of this city. Up until his death last Thursday, the 64-year-old left his tag—a simple smiley face—hundreds of thousands times on local walls, sidewalks, roofs and lampposts. Vocativ got a last glimpse into the world of Germany's legendary, inscrutable OZ before his death last Thursday http://voc.tv/1yyYc4L Subscribe! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=vocativvideo See more on our website: http://www.vocativ.com Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter....
Seher One started as an illegal graffiti artist at the age of 15 and has developed into an extremely successful muralist and graphic designer. Seher shows us his latest project: teaming up with the MediCom toy company to produce a limited edition Bearbick with custom graphics. Although he utilizes many different mediums for his artwork, it's his paintings and mural work that are the most energetic and addictive. For Seher, painting is "like an animal. The more you feed it, the more it wants, and it starts to grow." We caught up with Craig Costello, graffiti artist and creator of KRINK, the notorious brand responsible for drip style markers, mops, and fire extinguishers. As a punk kid growing up in Queens, Craig would scavenge for supplies to paint the walls and buildings of New York. His desire to create larger pieces and invent unique graffiti tools led to the development of his internationally recognized ink and paint brand Krink Inc. Craig's signature style morphed out of his modifications and innovations with paint tools; using a fire extinguisher filled with paint and paint markers rather than spray paint, his style became an instant hit in many cities around the world.
