The experience of TORAJAMELO in working with traditional women weavers' communities By Lanny Jauhari (alumna Globalisation and Development 2010-11) IOB is committed to support its former students after graduation and learn about the interesting work IOB alumni have been doing. Therefore, after a call for applications among all IOB alumni, Ms. Lanny Jauhari was selected out of 35 applications, to come to Antwerp and present her work on TORAJAMELO (Indonesia) Lanny Jauhari shares with us the story of her journey, looking for ways to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged communities. Ms. Lanny Jauhari will present her work as program manager for TORAJAMELO, a distinguished social enterprise model company-cum-foundation that works with marginalized rural women weaver artisans Indonesia. The organization's objective is to create a more inclusive and sustainable economy for poor women in Indonesia, particularly traditional weavers, and to rejuvenate Indonesian indigenous hand-woven cloth. The program pillar is consists of women economic empowerment, cultural preservation & rejuvenation, and youth participation.
