The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) of Bangalore, India, is a governmental organization that oversees planning and development of infrastructure, provision of development-related sites and services, and the housing needs of underprivileged citizens in Bangalore.

BDA was created on January 6, 1976 under the BDA Act 1976. The civic authority that existed before BDA was known as City Improvement Trust Board (CITB). BDA has executed many infrastructure works in Bangalore including Outer Ring Road, Hebbal flyover etc. It also develops residential layouts in Bangalore.

Present BDA commissioner is Bharat Lal Meena.

Bangalore /ˈbæŋɡəlɔər/, also rendered Bengaluru,^{[needs IPA]} is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. A succession of South Indian dynasties ruled the region of Bangalore until in 1537 AD Kempe Gowda—a feudatory ruler under the Vijayanagara Empire—established a mud fort considered to be the foundation of modern Bangalore. Following transitory occupation by Maratha and Mughal, the city remained under the Mysore kingdom. Bangalore continued to be a cantonment of the British and a major city of the Princely State of Mysore which existed as a nominally sovereign entity of the British Raj. Following the independence of India in 1947, Bangalore became the capital of Mysore state, and later Karnataka.

R. Ashoka (Kannada:ಆರ್.ಅಶೋಕ) is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka. Currently he is serving as the Minister for Home and Transport in the Government of Karnataka. He represents the Padmanabha Nagar constituency in Bangalore. He belongs to the Vokkaliga community.

Shri R. Ashoka was an active worker of the RSS from his student life, and developed leadership qualities during his college days itself. During Emergency (1975-77), he was arrested and was kept in prison with senior leaders like L.K. Advani at the Central Jail in Bangalore. He was first elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in the 1997 by-Elections from Uttarahalli Constituency, which was the biggest state legislature constituency in Asia. He was re-elected from the same constituency in 1999 and 2004 general election. He was also associated with the youth wing of the party in his younger days.

As Minister of Transport in the Yeddyurappa Government from 2008 onwards, he has been instrumental in modernizing the entire Transport department and also using innovative hi-tech methods to automate the working of the department. Under his leadership, the transport department has come up with some advanced public transport vehicles with reasonable rates for the benefit of the public and Issue of bus passes and concessions for the deserving candidates has been made simple.
