Scott Adsit Talks About Voicing Baymax In 'Big Hero 6'
I quite liked director
Big Hero 6, the
Oscar nominated animated film from directors
Don Hall and
Chris Williams.
It's visually arresting, has tangible stakes and isn't afraid to kill off characters, and embraces unity and intelligence.
If I had kids, its the kind of film I wouldn't mind them becoming obsessed with.
Scott Adsit (
30 Rock) voices
Baymax in Big Hero 6, if you haven't seen the film he's the giant inflatable white robot and it may not seem like there'd be much for him to do. But if you have seen the film, you realize what a precise task it must have been to voice this character. I recently sat down with Adsit to talk about his process, recording dialogue before the rest of the film had been made, and why he signed onto the project in the first place.
Check out the interview. We talk about the pair's creative process, the fastidious nature of animation in general, making the film feel like a matter of life and death, the first cut, and whether or not they'll do a sequel. Big Hero 6 also features the voices of
Ryan Potter,
Jamie Chung,
Damon Wayans Jr.,
Genesis Rodriguez and
T.J. Miller. It hits Blu-ray on
February 24th.
Here’s the official synopsis for Big Hero 6:

San Fransokyo and catapults

Fred (voice of T.J. Miller).
Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”
Inspired by the
Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“
