Ariel may refer to:
"Ariel" is a poem written by the American poet Sylvia Plath. It was written on October 27, 1962, shortly before her death, and published posthumously in the collection Ariel in 1965, of which it is the namesake. Despite its ambiguity, it is literally understood to describe an early morning horse-ride towards the rising sun. Scholars and literary critics have applied various methods of interpretation to "Ariel".
"Ariel" is composed of ten three-line stanzas with an additional single line at the end, and follows an unusual slanted rhyme scheme. Literary commentator William V. Davis notes a change in tone and break of the slanted rhyme scheme in the sixth stanza which marks a shift in the theme of the poem, from being literally about a horse ride, to more of a metaphoric experience of oneness with the horse and the act of riding itself.
It has been speculated that, being written on her birthday as well as using the general theme of rebirth, "Ariel" acted as a sort of psychic rebirth for the poet. The poem, written just five months before her eventual suicide, thus, not surprisingly given its name as well, is one of her Ariel poems. "Ariel" was the name of the horse Plath rode at a riding school on Dartmoor in Devon. Ted Hughes, Plath's husband, comments:
Ariel was the second book of Sylvia Plath's poetry to be published, and was originally published in 1965, two years after her death by suicide. The poems in the 1965 edition of Ariel, with their free flowing images and characteristically menacing psychic landscapes, marked a dramatic turn from Plath's earlier Colossus poems. The distinction often cited by critics between the two books is that there's something much swifter, more abrupt, and more sardonic about the former.
In the 1965 edition of Ariel, Ted Hughes changed Plath's chosen selection and arrangement by dropping twelve poems, adding twelve composed a few months later, and shifting the poems' ordering, in addition to including an introduction by the poet Robert Lowell. Having Lowell write the introduction to the book was appropriate, since, in a BBC interview, Plath cited Lowell's book Life Studies as having had a profound influence over the poetry she was writing in this last phase of her writing career. In the same interview, Plath also cited the poet Anne Sexton as an important influence on her writing during this time since Sexton was also exploring some of the same dark, taboo, personal subject matter that Plath was exploring in her writing.
"Lonely" is the second single by South Korean girl group 2NE1 from their 2011 extended play, 2NE1. Later that year, a Japanese version of the song was released and was included on their first Japanese EP Nolza. A short version of the music video was uploaded through 2NE1's official YouTube account.
The song was written and produced by Teddy Park. According to the CEO of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, "2NE1’s new song counter feeds the people with an analogue sound unlike the majority who used strong electronics and house music and maybe that is why Will I. Am have [sic] found it interesting". They also released teasers of "Lonely" starting with CL and Minzy on May 9, and Dara and Bom on May 10. The music video was released on May 11, 2011.
By the end of 2011, "Lonely" was downloaded 2,935,930 times, and reached the fourteenth position in the 2011 Gaon Year-End Chart, becoming the third-highest charting of 2NE1's 2011 singles.
The music video for "Lonely" was filmed April 27, 2011, directed by Han Samin, who directed the music video for Big Bang's fourth mini-special album's title song, "Love Song". The video was posted on their YouTube account on May 11, 2011.
"Lonely" is a song recorded by the German artist Nana. It was released in April 1997 as the second single from his debut album Nana. The song reached number-one in Germany and Switzerland. It also reached the top 5 in Austria, Denmark, and Norway.
"Lonely" (ロンリー, Ronrī) is Japanese singer-songwriter Mao Abe's fourth physical single, released on June 9, 2010. Unlike her previous singles and albums, this release is only released in one version.
The song was used in a commercial for Calpis Water, starring Umika Kawashima and Hannya member Satoshi Kaneda. The commercial began broadcasting on April 2, 2010. In mid-May 2010, the lyrics of the song were posted to Uta-Net. The song quickly reached #1 on the daily lyrics access ranking, Abe's third song to do this (after "Anata no Koibito ni Naritai no Desu" and "Itsu no Hi mo") On June 13, Abe performed the song on NHK music show Music Japan.
The music video was shot by director Hideaki Fukui. It switches between two views of Abe: one where she stands in front of a light brown background as staff members fuss over her appearance. The second is when the background falls away and she performs the song with a band. The type of band switches between two types: a standard four piece band, with guitars and a drum set, and a marching band-style line of men in gaucho hats and marching drums, with two men swinging flags behind them. After the marching band performance, the scene changes to that of Abe sitting on a chair playing her acoustic guitar. As she sits up and performs into the microphone, the room is filled with the members of both types of band.
A woman is a female human. The term woman is usually reserved for an adult, with the term girl being the usual term for a female child or adolescent. The term woman is also sometimes used to identify a female human, regardless of age, as in phrases such as "women's rights". "Woman" may also refer to a person's gender identity. Women with typical genetic development are usually capable of giving birth from puberty until menopause. In the context of gender identity, transgender people who are biologically determined to be male and identify as women cannot give birth. Some intersex people who identify as women cannot give birth due to either sterility or inheriting one or more Y chromosomes. In extremely rare cases, people who have Swyer syndrome can give birth with medical assistance. Throughout history women have assumed or been assigned various social roles.
The spelling of woman in English has progressed over the past millennium from wīfmann to wīmmann to wumman, and finally, the modern spelling woman. In Old English, wīfmann meant "female human", whereas wēr meant "male human". Mann or monn had a gender-neutral meaning of "human", corresponding to Modern English "person" or "someone"; however, subsequent to the Norman Conquest, man began to be used more in reference to "male human", and by the late 13th century had begun to eclipse usage of the older term wēr. The medial labial consonants f and m in wīfmann coalesced into the modern form "woman", while the initial element, which meant "female", underwent semantic narrowing to the sense of a married woman ("wife"). It is a popular misconception that the term "woman" is etymologically connected with "womb", which is from a separate Old English word, wambe meaning "stomach" (of male or female; modern German retains the colloquial term "Wampe" from Middle High German for "potbelly"). Nevertheless, such a false derivation of "woman" has appeared in print.

Ariel may refer to:
No one hurries home to lonely women
No one hurries home to lonely women
A gal could die without her man
And no one knows it better than lonely women
And no one knows the blues like lonely women do
No one knows the blues like lonely women, yeah
Blues, blues that make the walls rush in
Walls that tell you where you've been
And you've been to the hollow lonely women, yeah
And let me die early morning
Whoa, whoa, whoa, bitter tears
Whoa, whoa, whoa, bitter tears
Uptight downpour
Don't got no children to be grandmother for, be grandmother for
She don't believe no more, she don't believe
No one hurries home to call you, baby
Everybody knows, everybody knows
