Brewing increased hugely in 1945 and it was exported to the NAAFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes) bars and canteens to supply the British and Irish troops stationed across Europe. It is a big hunka hunka Irish warmth in a tiddy small bottle. It was even given to patients in hospital due to the brewer's claim to it's health benefits. It's said that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". Well an apple never tasted this good, so I prefer the old accompanying marketing slogan, (and I believe it too), that "Guinness is good for you." How true that ACTUALLY is, I don't know, but if you are sick, and I mean sick of rubbish beer, this is most certainly the cure. Sadly, it's no longer available on the NHS. Real ale to craft beer.
