Bradley is an English surname derived from a place name meaning "broad wood" or "broad clearing" in Old English.
Like many English surnames Bradley can also be used as a given name and as such has become popular.
It is also an Anglicisation of the Irish Gaelic name O’Brolachán (also O’Brallaghan) from County Tyrone in Ireland. The family moved and spread to counties Londonderry, Donegal and Cork, and England.
Bradley is the surname of the following notable people:
Shawn Paul Bradley (born March 22, 1972) is an American and German (dual citizen) retired basketball player who played center for the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Jersey Nets and the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). At 7 ft 6 in (2.29 m) tall, Bradley was one of the tallest players in NBA history. Though born in Landstuhl, West Germany, Bradley grew up in Castle Dale, Utah. During his playing career Bradley had the nicknames of "the enormous Mormon" and "the Stormin' Mormon".
Bradley played for Emery High School (Castle Dale, Utah) from 1987 to 1990. He was one of the most successful basketball players in Utah high school history, finishing with career averages of 20.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.4 blocked shots per game. During his time at the school, Emery racked up a 68-4 record and won two state championships. Bradley was named All-State three times and twice earned the season MVP award. In his senior year, he averaged 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 9 blocks per contest. He was named All-American by several national publications, including Parade Magazine, Street and Smith, USA Today, and others. He turned in a strong performance at the McDonald's All-American Game (12 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks), earning the Most Valuable Player award for the West team. As of 2015, Bradley still holds Utah state records for blocked shots in a single game (17), season (208), and career (506).
Tracy Lamar McGrady, Jr. (born May 24, 1979) is an American retired professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a seven-time NBA All-Star, seven-time All-NBA selection, and a two-time NBA scoring champion (2003–2004). McGrady played as a swingman.
McGrady entered the NBA straight from high school after being selected in the 1997 NBA draft with the ninth overall pick in the first round by the Toronto Raptors. He played in the NBA for the Raptors, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, and San Antonio Spurs. He also played for the Qingdao Eagles of the Chinese Basketball Association. In 2013, he announced his retirement from the NBA.
McGrady was ranked #75 on SLAM Magazine's "Top 75 Players of All-Time" in 2003. McGrady's style of play has been compared to that of George Gervin.Kobe Bryant has cited Tracy McGrady the toughest player he ever played against.
McGrady was born in Bartow, Florida. He played high school basketball and baseball at Auburndale High School in Auburndale, Florida for three years. He then transferred to Mount Zion Christian Academy, in Durham, North Carolina. McGrady created a national buzz after his performance in the Adidas ABCD Camp, where the best high school players in the U.S. are invited annually. He was named High School Player of the Year by USA Today. McGrady has stated that if he had not gone straight to the NBA from high school, he would have attended Kentucky.
Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal (/ʃəˈkiːl/ shə-KEEL; born March 6, 1972), nicknamed Shaq (/ˈʃæk/ SHAK), is a retired American professional basketball player who is currently an analyst on the television program Inside the NBA. Listed at 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) tall and weighing 325 pounds (147 kg), he was one of the heaviest players ever to play in the NBA. O'Neal played for six teams throughout his 19-year NBA career. He was announced as a nominee for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on December 21, 2015.
Following his career at Louisiana State University, O'Neal was drafted by the Orlando Magic with the first overall pick in the 1992 NBA draft. He quickly became one of the best centers in the league, winning Rookie of the Year in 1992–93 and later leading his team to the 1995 NBA Finals. After four years with the Magic, O'Neal signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers. They won three consecutive championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Amid tension between O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, O'Neal was traded to the Miami Heat in 2004, and his fourth NBA championship followed in 2006. Midway through the 2007–2008 season he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. After a season-and-a-half with the Suns, O'Neal was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2009–10 season. O'Neal played for the Boston Celtics in the 2010–11 season before retiring.

Shawn Bradley (24pts) vs. Shaquille O'Neal (33pts, 15/16 FG) (1994)
Former NBA center Shawn Bradley is mostly remembered for two things -- being one of the tallest players to ever play in the NBA and for being on the wrong end of a lot of great dunks. Taken second overall in the 1993 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, Bradley is considered by many to be an NBA bust. In POSTERIZED, Bradley shows us that there is more to life than basketball and that success cannot only be defined by what's done on a basketball court. Sharing: https://youtu.be/m3-s7yqkYJU
A compilation of a number of the often over-looked/forgotten highlights of former NBA player Shawn Bradley. Sure, he never should have been a #2 pick, but he had a solid NBA career... with a few genuinely great highlights to his much maligned name. I'm pretty tired of the ignorance that reigns on the internet that Shawn Bradley was a crappy player. Yes, he should have achieved more as a 2nd draft pick, you can call him a bust, however he was one of the best shot blockers in the 90s. This game isn't even the best to prove my point, but it could be one of the most successful games I've seen out of Shawn. Rookie Bradley scores 24 points on Shaq with a few beautiful hook shots, you can see his passing ability as well. It didn't go that good on the defensive end though as Shaq pushed him around quite easily, posterized him a couple of times and missed only one field goal on route to 33 points. January 22, 1994. Some trivia about Shawn. Once with the Nets Bradley posted back-to-back triple-doubles to become the first player in NBA histo...

April 17 1998: Mavs at Lakers Has anyone ever seen Michael Finley and Billy Ocean in the same room? I give you "SlaaaaaamDunk! '98", starring (in order of appearance) Eddie Jones, Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Finley/Billy Ocean, Kobe Bryant, Shawn Bradley, Robert Horry, and Tiger Woods. How about that Kobe retaliation dunk past Finley and over Bradley? Kobe and Eddie Jones were brothers in flight, Robert Horry looked like Pippen on his dunk, poor 7'6" Shawn Bradley was massacred by Kobe and then Shaq, Del Harris, Chick, Stu, and the entire forum laughs at what appears to be a Del Harris impersonator patrolling the sideline, and Tiger Woods enjoys the LA sights. Shaq had 43pts (18-22) and Eddie Jones had 21pts (9-14). Billy Ocean had 31pts (13-30). Eddie Jones was starting over Kobe. "Mindfiel...
