Jashnn — The Music Within written by Shagufta Rafiq, directed by Raksha Mistry & Hasnain S Hyderabadwala, is a 2009 Bollywood movie starring Adhyayan Suman, Anjana Sukhani, Shahana Goswami and Humayun Saeed. It is produced by Vishesh Films.

Synopsis

Jashnn the movie, is based on the character Akash Verma (Adhyayan Suman), a 23-year-old man, who thirsts to becoming a singing icon that can blaze a trail for himself among the galaxy of existing stars. But though he has dreams in his heart, he has been unable to find that distinctive voice that he can call his own, that will propel him to the top.

Only when he's shattered by life and unflinchingly looks at the sordid truth straight in the face — that he is freeloading off his elder sister Nisha (Shahana Goswami), who in order to offer Akash a decent life style, has become the mistress of a rich businessman, Aman Bajaj (Humayun Saeed). Even though she is just a mistress, she is able to touch Aman's inner core.

Call it irony or a twist of fate, but the person who sees Akash through this dark times and mentors him when he's down and out is none other than the sister of the very person who Akash hates most in the world - Aman Bajaj. It is Sara Bajaj (Anjana Sukhani), Aman's sister, who makes him realize that he is an extremely talented man who is simply going through a bad phase and that the biggest crime a human being can commit, is to give up on himself.

A. R. Rahman

Allah-Rakha Rahman ( pronunciation , born A. S. Dileep Kumar on 6 January 1967) is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, musician and philanthropist. Rahman's works are noted for integrating Eastern classical music with electronic music, world music and traditional orchestral arrangements. Among his awards are two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South. Atif Aslam (born Muhammad Atif Aslam) is a Pakistani singer, and film actor. His film debut was in the 2010 social drama Bol, which was the one of the highest-grossing Pakistani films of all the time. He has recorded numerous chart-topping songs, and is known for his vocal belting technique. He was declared the most popular artist on Saavn (an Indian music streaming service) in 2013, followed by Arijit Singh, A. R. Rahman, Shreya Ghoshal, and Mohit Chauhan. Atif is the youngest recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, a Pakistani civilian decoration.

Personal life

Atif was born into a Muslim family in Wazirabad, Pakistan. He began his education in kindergarten at Kimberley Hall School, Lahore. In 1991 he moved to Rawalpindi where he continued his studies in St. Paul's Cambridge School, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. Atif returned to Lahore in 1995 where he continued his studies in Divisional Public School, Lahore. He continued onwards to his FSC in Punjab College where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree. He married his long-time girlfriend, educationist Sara Bharwana, in Lahore on 30 March 2013.

Shankar Tucker

Shankar Tucker is an American clarinetist and music composer. He rose to fame with the popularity of his online music series called "The ShrutiBox". The Shrutibox features his compositions and was released online on platforms like YouTube and Soundcloud. He is now debuting as the Music Composer for a Bilingual Indian feature film, 'Orey Nyabagam' (Tamil) / 'Nee Vaipe' (Telugu), written and directed by Vignarajan, an associate of renowned Tamil film director Radhamohan inspired by Kaushik Ramesh from DAV gopalapuram(friend of Vandana Srinivasan).

Early life and education

Shankar grew up in Massachusetts. He was christened Shankar as suggested by spiritual guru Mata Amritanandamayi whom his family follows. As a high school student, Shankar was drawn towards Indian classical music on listening to "Remember Shakti" by John McLaughlin and started playing on his own. Shankar graduated from New England Conservatory in Boston, where he studied orchestral clarinet performance. He started taking lessons in Indian classical music from Peter Row, a sitar player. Eventually he obtained The Frank Huntington Beebe Fund to study music under flute maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia in Mumbai in 2010. Besides clarinet, Shankar plays tabla, kanjira, piano, bass and guitar.
