Chashme Baddoor, Chashme Buddoor, or Chasme Buddoor may refer to:
Farooq Sheikh (25 March 1948 − 27 December 2013) was an Indian actor, philanthropist and a popular television presenter. He was best known for his work in Hindi films from 1977 to 1989 and for his work in television between 1988 and 2002. He returned to acting in films in 2008 and continued to do so until his death on 27 December 2013. His major contribution was in Parallel Cinema or the New Indian Cinema. He worked with directors like Satyajit Ray, Muzaffar Ali, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Ketan Mehta.
He acted in serials and shows on television and performed on stage in famous productions such as Tumhari Amrita (1992), alongside Shabana Azmi, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, and presented the TV show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai (Season 1). He won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Lahore.
Shaikh was born in Amroli, Surat District, Gujarat in 1948 to Muslim father Mustafa Shaikh and Parsi Mother Farida. His father Mustafa Shaikh was a lawyer from Mumbai; whilst his original ancestral heritage was Hansot village (Bharuch district, Gujarat). His family were Zamindars, and he grew up in luxurious surroundings. He was the eldest of five children.
Deepti Naval is an Indian actress mostly active in Hindi cinema, as well as a director, writer, painter, and photographer. Her major contribution has been in the area of art cinema, winning critical acclaim for her sensitive and ‘close to life’ characters that emphasized the changing roles of women in India.
Naval was born in Amritsar, Punjab, but moved to New York when her father got a teaching job at the City University. She studied fine arts at Hunter College.
Naval made her debut in 1978 with Shyam Benegal's film Junoon. Two years later, she played a lead role in the critically acclaimed Ek Baar Phir. Alongside Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi, she became one of the key actresses of 1980s Parallel Cinema, earning praise for her roles in films like Kamla (1984) or Ankahee (1985).
Starting with Chashme Buddoor in 1981, she was often cast with Farooq Shaikh and they became one of India's most iconic on-screen couples of the early 1980s, with films such as Saath Saath, Kissi Se Na Kehna, Katha and Rang Birangi. Three decades later, they were reunited in Tell Me O Kkhuda (2011). Their last film together was Listen... Amaya which was released in 2013, the year of Shaikh's death.
Saeed Jaffrey, OBE (Punjabi: ਸਈਦ ਜਾਫ਼ਰੀ, Urdu: سعید جعفری; Hindi: सईद जाफ़री; 8 January 1929 – 15 November 2015) was an Indian-born British actor whose versatility and fluency in multiple languages allowed him to straddle radio, stage, television and film in a career that spanned over six decades and more than a hundred and fifty British, American and Indian movies.
He was able to breathe life into the smallest of roles through intense preparation and a nuanced performance, like that of the translator and guide Billy Fish in The Man Who Would Be King (1975), an act that brought him international attention. His seductive, resonant voice combined with a gift for mimicry and a sharp ear for accents made him the natural choice as narrator for audio books. His narration of the Kama Sutra titled The Art of Love (1996) was listed by Time magazine as "one of the five best spoken word records ever made". He voiced all 86 characters in the 1997 BBC World Service broadcast of Vikram Seth's novel, A Suitable Boy.
Ali Mohammad Zafar (better known as Ali Zafar; 18 May 1980), is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, composer, actor and painter. He started his career as a music composer and gained popularity by his single Channo from his debut album Huqa Pani which sold over five million copies worldwide.Channo turned out to be a huge success topping many music charts and earnde him the Lux Style Award for Best Music Album.
Zafar made his acting debut with a leading role in the 2010 Bollywood satire film Tere Bin Laden, a moderate box-office success. His performance in the film garnered critical appreciation and earned him several nominations in Best Male Debut category (including Filmfare). The following year, Zafar made a special appearance in the romantic comedy Luv Ka The End and played the lead in the romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Zafar was widely praised for his performance and received further praise for portraying leading roles in the critically and commercially successful romanctic comedy London, Paris, New York (2012), the comedy Chashme Baddoor (2013) and the romantic comedy Total Siyapaa (2014).
