Earle Harry Hagen (July 9, 1919 – May 26, 2008) was an American composer who created music for movies and television. His best-known TV themes include those for Make Room For Daddy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Spy, That Girl and The Mod Squad. He is also remembered for co-writing and whistling "The Fishin' Hole", the melody of the main theme to The Andy Griffith Show; writing the instrumental classic "Harlem Nocturne" used as the theme to television's Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer; and co-writing the theme song to Tim Conway's Western comedy Rango.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, as a boy he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, where he learned to play the trombone in junior high school, and graduated from Hollywood High School. At age 16, he left home to join traveling big bands, playing with Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and Ray Noble. While on the road with Noble in 1939, he wrote "Harlem Nocturne" as a tribute to Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges. The piece was recorded by several artists, including Earl Bostic, The Viscounts, Sam Taylor, Herbie Fields, Randy Brooks, Chuck Brown and The Lounge Lizards. Later, it was used as the theme to television's Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer.
Andy Samuel Griffith (June 1, 1926 – July 3, 2012) was an American actor, television producer, Southern gospel singer, and writer. He was a Tony Award nominee for two roles, and gained prominence in the starring role in director Elia Kazan's film A Face in the Crowd (1957) before he became better known for his television roles, playing the lead character in the situation comedy, The Andy Griffith Show (1960–1968), and in the legal drama, Matlock (1986–1995).
Griffith was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, the only child of Carl Lee Griffith and his wife, Geneva (Nunn). Griffith was born the same day (June 1, 1926) as motion picture icon Marilyn Monroe. As a baby, Griffith lived with relatives until his parents could afford to buy a home. With neither a crib nor a bed, he slept in dresser drawers for several months. In 1929, when Griffith was three, his father began working as a carpenter and purchased a home in Mount Airy's "blue-collar" south side.
Griffith grew up listening to music. By the time he entered school, he was well aware that he was from what many considered the "wrong side of the tracks". He was a shy student, but once he found a way to make his peers laugh, he began to come out of his shell and come into his own.
"Harlem Nocturne" is a jazz standard written by Earle Hagen and Dick Rogers in 1939 for the Ray Noble orchestra they played in. The song was adopted by bandleader Randy Brooks the next year as his theme song.
"Harlem Nocturne" has been frequently recorded. Artists include Johnny Otis, The Xochimilcas Boys, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, British band Ken Mackintosh, Bill Haley and His Comets (performed live),The Lounge Lizards, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Earl Bostic, King Curtis, Anton Szandor LaVey, Herbie Fields,Willy Deville, David Sanborn,Alicia Keys, Michael Lington,Sonny Moorman, The Ventures, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and guitarist Danny Gatton; as well as Herbie Mann, Wildflower, Carla White, Vladimir Rusinov & The Jumping Cats, Messer Chups, The 5.6.7.8's, Stouxingers, Esquivel, Flat Duo Jets, Les & Larry Elgart, Rene Bloch, Ray Anthony, Les Brown & His Band of Renown, Chakachas, The Jake Concepcion Orchestra, Bill Doggett, Illinois Jacquet, The Knickerbockers, Quincy Jones, Boots Randolph, Quartet San Francisco, New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Charlie Musselwhite, Archie Ulm, Sam Taylor, Ulrich Tukur + Rhythm Boys, Mel Torme, Kustomized, Mel Taylor & The Magics, Louis Prima & Sam Butera, Terry Edwards & the Scapegoats with Lydia Lunch, Neil Lewis & His Quintet, and Brian Rodwell. The haunting version by The Viscounts has the distinction of being a tune released twice by the same band and rising high on the Billboard charts each time: first in 1959, when it peaked at #53, and again in 1966, peaking at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It has been reported that there are about 500 covers of this classic.
The Andy Griffith Show is an American sitcom first televised on CBS between October 3, 1960 and April 1, 1968. The show, a semi-spin-off from an episode of The Danny Thomas Show, stars Andy Griffith, who portrays the widowed sheriff of the fictional small community of Mayberry, North Carolina. His life is complicated by an inept, but well-meaning deputy, Barney Fife (Don Knotts), a spinster aunt and housekeeper, Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), and a precocious young son, Opie (Ron Howard). Local ne'er-do-wells, bumbling pals, and temperamental girlfriends further complicate his life. Regarding the time-period of the show, Griffith said in a Today Show interview: "Well, though we never said it, and though it was shot in the 1960s, it had a feeling of the 1930s. It was, when we were doing it, of a time gone by."
The series never placed lower than seventh in the Nielsen ratings and ended its final season at number one. It has been ranked by TV Guide as the 9th-best and 13th-best show in American television history. Though neither Griffith nor the show won awards during its eight-season run, series co-stars Knotts and Bavier accumulated a combined total of six Emmy Awards. The series spawned its own spin-off, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964), a sequel series, Mayberry R.F.D. (1968), and a reunion telemovie, Return to Mayberry (1986). The Black and white reruns currently air on TV Land and Me-TV, while the complete series is available on DVD. All eight seasons also are now available by streaming video services such as Netflix. An annual festival celebrating the show, Mayberry Days, is held each year in Griffith's hometown of Mount Airy, North Carolina. The show's enduring popularity also has generated significant show-related merchandise.
Hagen (German pronunciation: [ˈhaːɡən]) is the 41st-largest city in Germany, located in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located on the south eastern edge of the Ruhr area, 15 km south of Dortmund, where the rivers Lenne and Volme (met by the river Ennepe) meet the river Ruhr. As of 31 December 2010 the population was 188,529. The city is home to the FernUniversität Hagen, which is the only state funded distance education university in Germany. Counting more than 67,000 students (March 2010), it is the largest university in Germany.
Hagen was first mentioned ca. 1200, presumably the name of a farm at the junction of the Volme and the Ennepe. After the conquest of Burg Volmarstein in 1324, Hagen passed to the County of Mark. In 1614 it was awarded to the Margraviate of Brandenburg according to the Treaty of Xanten. In 1701 it became part of the Kingdom of Prussia.
After the defeat of Prussia in the Fourth Coalition, Hagen was incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Berg from 1807–13. In 1815 it became part of the new Prussian Province of Westphalia.

This actually a very hip piece of music Enjoy!!
Everyone knows of Barney Fife, the strict but lovable deputy sheriff from the classic 1960s Andy Griffith show. Accompanying Barney on his bumbling acts of law-enforcement is his militaristic theme song, Manhunt, composed by musician Earle Hagen. I've always loved this simplistic yet catchy of music, but I've only just recently been able to track down the full version of it, and I'm surprised no one else has beat me to uploading it on YouTube, so here it is for your enjoyment!

"The Fishin' Hole" is the theme song for The Andy Griffith Show by Earle Hagen and Herbert Spencer. Earle Hagen performed the whistling for the opening and closing credits sequences. The lyrics by Everett Sloane were never performed on the show. Lyrics: Well, now, take down your fishin' pole and meet me at the fishin' hole. We may not get a bite all day, but don't you rush away. What a great place to rest your bones and mighty fine for skippin' stones. You'll feel fresh as a lemonade, a-settin' in the shade. Whether it's hot, whether it's cool, oh what a spot for whistlin' like a fool. What a fine day to take a stroll and wander by the fishin' hole. I can't think of a better way to pass the time o' day. We'll have no need to call the roll when we get to the fishin' hole. There'll be y...

Music clips culled from three season 3 episode of "I Spy" entitled "Home to Judgment" in which government agents Kelly Robinson (actor Robert Culp) and Alexander Scott (actor Bill Cosby) are chased in the countryside by ruthless Syndicate men willing to eliminate them because they know too much about their secret activities. Both exhausted agents stop running and hide in a farmhouse which happens to belong to Robinson's old uncle (actor Will Geer). Later on and at night, a weird cowboy hitman popup to erase the inhabitants of the farmhouse. Composer Earle Hagen writes here a masterpiece score that is modernist—notice the echo and the pitch bending—and hectic at once. The music includes the use of a fast-paced drum and a gloomy organ to emphasize the diehard attitude of the iron Syndicate ...

hIt breathes into the forefront
Cult of lies and deceit says
Think for your own, not on your own
We die, days and nothing are gone to the plight
There they go, cover the tracks
Or risk them to their graves
What we know instates your fair game
I won't run, and I will destroy you all
Your time is done
Burning eyes
The wrath of angst under my skin
With blood, will suffocate them all
A propaganda game bent us to the will
Be certain that the rules will change
Eye of the tide
Reaches out for you
Feed the life
The toxic dreams for which you cry
Your life
Your life is running from reality
In The End
All the change will start with your genocide
Now the time, their science fiction fantasy
They have fabricated
Overcome, after the world was bought
We'll take it back and kill off what's left
This is certain
Your ways create death in this form
Pray to your mechanical savior
It's soul is sought
Seeing the funeral arise
It is certain, you've fallen from grace
You'll try to damage us while you still can
