I'm a 45 year old single mother of 3 and on 2/15/16 I found out that I had HIV. This is my story about how I contracted it, how I survived AIDS and how I live my life today with HIV.
I originally put this video out for my Facebook friends, I had no idea it would get this king of attention. Every day is a new adventure on this new journey of YouTube and my story. I'm excited to be alive, excited to take this ride and excited to take you all along with me.

What is it?
AIDS, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, is an infection caused by the sexually transmitted HIV virus, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. AIDS severely damages the immune system, putting its victims at huge risk for opportunistic infections. Today, there are over 35 million people living with HIV/AIDS, over 3 million of which are children who were infected by their mothers at birth.
Where is it located?
HIV/AIDS is a worldwide pandemic. As seen here, sub-Saharan Africa is the most heavily affected region where it's infected 5% of the adult population and has caused 10% of deaths in children. The second most affected region is Southeast Asia followed by Eastern European countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia.
How will it kill you?
Infection with HIV does not always progress to AIDS and thanks to advances in medicine and technology, HIV positive victims may now lead nearly normal life expectancies. But those whose infections have progressed to AIDS will suffer from a progressive failure of the immune system due to lowered white blood cell counts. Death is mainly caused by an inability to fight off opportunistic infections from other diseases, the leading causes being tuberculosis, hepatitis C, and cancer.
How to survive:
Although there's still no cure, HIV patients starting treatment far in advance can lead close to normal life expectancies. If you suspect yourself of being infected, get an HIV AIDS test done immediately, Both HIV and AIDS patients may take antiretroviral medicines to fight the virus. These antiretroviral meds improve their healths by making their immune systems work better. Problems arise when the virus becomes resistant to the antiretrovirals, at which point new medicines can be prescribed to help fight the disease, prevent HIV replication, and shorten the HIV life cycle .

HIV
The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus (a subgroup of retrovirus) that causes HIV infection and over time acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). AIDS is a condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive. Without treatment, average survival time after infection with HIV is estimated to be 9 to 11 years, depending on the HIV subtype. Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells.
HIV infects vital cells in the human immune system such as helper T cells (specifically CD4+ T cells), macrophages, and dendritic cells. HIV infection leads to low levels of CD4+ T cells through a number of mechanisms, including pyroptosis of abortively infected T cells,apoptosis of uninfected bystander cells, direct viral killing of infected cells, and killing of infected CD4+ T cells by CD8 cytotoxic lymphocytes that recognize infected cells. When CD4+ T cell numbers decline below a critical level, cell-mediated immunity is lost, and the body becomes progressively more susceptible to opportunistic infections.

Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan with the aim of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. The organization produces short lectures in the form of YouTube videos. In addition to micro lectures, the organization's website features practice exercises and tools for educators. All resources are available for free to anyone around the world. The main language of the website is English, but the content is also available in other languages.
History
The founder of the organization, Salman Khan, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States to immigrant parents from Bangladesh and India. After earning three degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (a BS in mathematics, a BS in electrical engineering and computer science, and an MEng in electrical engineering and computer science), he pursued an MBA from Harvard Business School.
In late 2004, Khan began tutoring his cousin Nadia who needed help with math using Yahoo!'s Doodle notepad.When other relatives and friends sought similar help, he decided that it would be more practical to distribute the tutorials on YouTube. The videos' popularity and the testimonials of appreciative students prompted Khan to quit his job in finance as a hedge fund analyst at Connective Capital Management in 2009, and focus on the tutorials (then released under the moniker "Khan Academy") full-time.

In this HIV AIDS educational video, we'll show you what you need to know about this disease. Today's video was produced due to high demand by our subscribers. AIDS, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, is an infection caused by the sexually transmitted HIV virus, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. AIDS severely damages the immune system, putting its victims at huge risk for opportunistic infections. Today, there are over 35 million people living with HIV/AIDS, over 3 million of which are children who were infected by their mothers at birth. Where is it located? HIV/AIDS is a worldwide pandemic. As seen here, sub-Saharan Africa is the most heavily affected region where it's infected 5% of the adult population and has caused 10% of deaths in children. The second most affected region is Southeast Asia followed by Eastern European countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia. How will it kill you? Infection with HIV does not always progress to AIDS and thanks to advances in medicine and technology, HIV positive victims may now lead nearly normal life expectancies. But those whose infections have progressed to AIDS will suffer from a progressive failure of the immune system due to lowered white blood cell counts. Death is mainly caused by an inability to fight off opportunistic infections from other diseases, the leading causes being tuberculosis, hepatitis C, and cancer. How to survive: Although there's still no cure, HIV patients starting treatment far in advance can lead close to normal life expectancies. If you suspect yourself of being infected, get an HIV AIDS test done immediately, Both HIV and AIDS patients may take antiretroviral medicines to fight the virus. These antiretroviral meds improve their healths by making their immune systems work better. Problems arise when the virus becomes resistant to the antiretrovirals, at which point new medicines can be prescribed to help fight the disease, prevent HIV replication, and shorten the HIV life cycle . I'm a 45 year old single mother of 3 and on 2/15/16 I found out that I had HIV. This is my story about how I contracted it, how I survived AIDS and how I live my life today with HIV. I originally put this video out for my Facebook friends, I had no idea it would get this king of attention. Every day is a new adventure on this new journey of YouTube and my story. I originally put this video out for my Facebook friends, I had no idea it would get this king of attention. Every day is a new adventure on this new journey of YouTube and my story. I'm excited to be alive, excited to take this ride and excited to take you all along with me.

What is it?
AIDS, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, is an infection caused by the sexually transmitted HIV virus, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. AIDS severely damages the immune system, putting its victims at huge risk for opportunistic infections. Today, there are over 35 million people living with HIV/AIDS, over 3 million of which are children who were infected by their mothers at birth.
Where is it located?
HIV/AIDS is a worldwide pandemic. As seen here, sub-Saharan Africa is the most heavily affected region where it's infected 5% of the adult population and has caused 10% of deaths in children. The second most affected region is Southeast Asia followed by Eastern European countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia.
How will it kill you?
Infection with HIV does not always progress to AIDS and thanks to advances in medicine and technology, HIV positive victims may now lead nearly normal life expectancies. But those whose infections have progressed to AIDS will suffer from a progressive failure of the immune system due to lowered white blood cell counts. Death is mainly caused by an inability to fight off opportunistic infections from other diseases, the leading causes being tuberculosis, hepatitis C, and cancer.
How to survive:
Although there's still no cure, HIV patients starting treatment far in advance can lead close to normal life expectancies. If you suspect yourself of being infected, get an HIV AIDS test done immediately, Both HIV and AIDS patients may take antiretroviral medicines to fight the virus. These antiretroviral meds improve their healths by making their immune systems work better. Problems arise when the virus becomes resistant to the antiretrovirals, at which point new medicines can be prescribed to help fight the disease, prevent HIV replication, and shorten the HIV life cycle .

Archeologists are hailing the discovery of an ancient temple built to a pre-Hispanic god of wind in the Tlatelolca neighborhood of what is now Mexico City, IFL Science reported Friday.According to the report, a supermarket was constructed on top of the temple in the middle of the 20th century. The store has now been dismantled, allowing archeologists to discover the 650-year-old relic sitting 3 meters (10 feet) beneath it....
