The Chroma ~ Psychological Horror Novel ~ Book Trailer
http://www.TheChromaBook.com The
Chroma is a fast-paced, action-driven psychological horror novel written by
Jake Farrow. (
ISBN 0-74-14-3562-4,
Infinity Publishing,
2012, 207 pages, $13.95.
"This psychological-survival horror novel centers on the adventures and misadventures of
John who, haunted by the guilt of abandoning his younger brother
Michael, embarks on a getaway in the
Canadian outdoors in an attempt to reconcile with him," explains
Farrow. "En route, John encounters the Chroma, in the form of a tree with a bloodshadow. The Chroma latches onto John's guilt like a parasite."
The Chroma cannot be seen while its bloodshadow is visible and, conversely, the bloodshadow cannot be seen while the Chroma is visible. Characterized by such contradictions, the Chroma generates reactive panic.
The originality of The Chroma is rivaled by its totally unpredictable, fast-paced plot filled with intensity and fluid dialogue. The result is a psychological horror story unlike any other.
"The Chroma capitalizes on everything from the habitant predators to the traitorous member of the group to achieve its unprecedented purpose -- to sever the bond between brothers with the use of deception but without the use of coercion, to patiently acquire the demise of the senior brother," adds Farrow.
Farrow first got a vision for the possible existence of a Chroma and its bloodshadow as an 8-year-old boy vacationing in the
Poconos in upstate
New York when the power went out and a tree surrounded by darkness created feelings of vulnerability and isolation.
Later in life, influenced by the horror film
Tremors as well as
Predator and
The Terminator, Farrow developed the framework for what has become an unforgettable story line.
