திருவள்ளுவர் வாழ்கை ஒரு -அதிசயமானது - இவரது இயற்கை பெற்றோர்கள் இவரை பிறந்த உடனேயே விட்டு விட்டு சென்று விட்டனர்.
இலுப்பை மரத்தடியில் இருந்த வள்ளுவரை - நெசவு தொழில் செய்யும் சைவ வேளாளர் ஒருவர் எடுத்து வளர்கிறார். இவர் சிறு வயதிலேயே வடமொழி, 4 வேதம், சாஸ்திரங்கள், தமிழ் மறைகளையும் கற்று புலமை பெற்று விளங்குகிறார். இவர் ஏலேல சிங்கனர் எனும் ஒரு வாணிகரிடம் பருத்தி வாங்கி நெசவு செய்து வாழ்ந்து வந்தார்.இவரின் நன் நெறி கண்ட சைவ வேளாளரான பண்ணையார் மார்க்க சகாயர் தனது மகளான வாசுகிக்கு திருமணம் முடிக்க வேண்டுகிறார். திருவள்ளுவர், ஒரு பிடி மண் தந்து இதை வாசுகி பொங்கி சாதம் செய்ய சொல்கிறார். அறம் தவறாத வள்ளுவரின் வாக்கில் நம்பிக்கை கொண்ட வாசுகி அவ்வாறே சாதம் செய்து வள்ளுவரை திருமணம் செய்கின்றார்.
திருவள்ளுவரின் இறுதி -நாள் மிகவும் சுவாரஸ்யமானது.
Thiruvalluvar's life is very interesting. His biological parents for some reason abandon him on birth under an 'illuppai' tree. He is brought up by a weaver from the Saiva Velaala tribe. Valluvar learns both Sanskrit, the 4 Vedas and Tamil grammar and holy literature at a very young age. He buys cotton from Yelela Singanar, a sea faring merchant and weaves cotton clothes. He is approached by a wealthy Velaala - Maarga Sahaya to give his daughter Vaasuki in marriage to Thiruvallvuar. Valluvar tests Vaasuki by giving a handful of sand and asking her to cook it as rice. Vaasuki having utmost faith in Valluvar's truthful way does the same and cooks the sand and it turns to rice.
They both happily marry. They live a happy life and Vaasuki in old age dies before Thiruvalluvar. Thiruvallvar asks Elela Singanar not to cremate or bury his body, but rather give his body as food to the animals when he dies. Hence, his body is tied to haystack and pulled in the road from Mylapore all the way to Thiruvallur. Where his body totally disappears at the tank of Sri Veeraraghava Perumal temple.

Thiruvalluvar
Thiruvalluvar is a celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher whose contribution to Tamil literature is the Thirukkural, a work on ethics. He was born either in Thiru Mylai (Mylapore) Chennai in Tamil Nadu or in ThirunayanarKuruchi, a village in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu.Thiruvalluvar is thought to have lived sometime between the 3rd century BC and the 1st century BC. The Tamil poet Mamulanar of the Sangam period mentioned that Thiruvalluvar was the greatest Tamil scholar and Mamulanar also mentioned the Nanda Dynasty of northern which ruled until the 4th century BC. This estimate is based on linguistic analysis of his writings, as there is no archaeological evidence for when he lived. He is sometimes also called Theiva Pulavar ("Divine Poet"), Valluvar, Poyyamozhi Pulavar, Senna Pothar,Gnana Vettiyan or Ayyan.
Traditional accounts
Thirukkuṛal itself does not name its author or authors. The name Thiruvalluvar is first mentioned in the 10th century in a text called Thiruvalluvarmaalai ("Thiruvalluve traditions of Thiruvalluvar" appeared after this text had been written. Thiruvalluvar Statue
The Thiruvalluvar Statue is a 133 feet (40.6 m) tall stone sculpture of the Tamil poet and philosopher Tiruvalluvar, author of the Thirukkural. It is located atop a small island near the town of Kanyakumari on the southernmost Coromandel Coast, where two seas and an ocean meet; the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
Description
The statue has a height of 95 feet (29 m) and stands upon a 38-foot (11.5 m) pedestal that represents the 38 chapters of "virtue" in the Thirukkural. The statue standing on the pedestal represents "wealth" and "pleasures", signifying that wealth and love be earned and enjoyed on the foundation of solid virtue.
The combined height of the statue and pedestal is 133 feet (40.5 m), denoting the 133 chapters in the Thirukkural. It has a total weight of 7000 tons.
The statue, with its slight bend around the waist is reminiscent of a dancing pose of the ancient Indian deities like Nataraja. It was sculpted by the Indian sculptor Dr. V. Ganapati Sthapati, who also created the Iraivan Temple.

இலுப்பை மரத்தடியில் இருந்த வள்ளுவரை - நெசவு தொழில் செய்யும் சைவ வேளாளர் ஒருவர் எடுத்து வளர்கிறார். இவர் சிறு வயதிலேயே வடமொழி, 4 வேதம், சாஸ்திரங்கள், தமிழ் மறைகளையும் கற்று புலமை பெற்று விளங்குகிறார். இவர் ஏலேல சிங்கனர் எனும் ஒரு வாணிகரிடம் பருத்தி வாங்கி நெசவு செய்து வாழ்ந்து வந்தார்.இவரின் நன் நெறி கண்ட சைவ வேளாளரான பண்ணையார் மார்க்க சகாயர் தனது மகளான வாசுகிக்கு திருமணம் முடிக்க வேண்டுகிறார். திருவள்ளுவர், ஒரு பிடி மண் தந்து இதை வாசுகி பொங்கி சாதம் செய்ய சொல்கிறார். அறம் தவறாத வள்ளுவரின் வாக்கில் நம்பிக்கை கொண்ட வாசுகி அவ்வாறே சாதம் செய்து வள்ளுவரை திருமணம் செய்கின்றார்.
திருவள்ளுவரின் இறுதி -நாள் மிகவும் சுவாரஸ்யமானது.
Thiruvalluvar's life is very interesting. His biological parents for some reason abandon him on birth under an 'illuppai' tree. He is brought up by a weaver from the Saiva Velaala tribe. Valluvar learns both Sanskrit, the 4 Vedas and Tamil grammar and holy literature at a very young age. He buys cotton from Yelela Singanar, a sea faring merchant and weaves cotton clothes. He is approached by a wealthy Velaala - Maarga Sahaya to give his daughter Vaasuki in marriage to Thiruvallvuar. Valluvar tests Vaasuki by giving a handful of sand and asking her to cook it as rice. Vaasuki having utmost faith in Valluvar's truthful way does the same and cooks the sand and it turns to rice.
They both happily marry. They live a happy life and Vaasuki in old age dies before Thiruvalluvar. Thiruvallvar asks Elela Singanar not to cremate or bury his body, but rather give his body as food to the animals when he dies. Hence, his body is tied to haystack and pulled in the road from Mylapore all the way to Thiruvallur. Where his body totally disappears at the tank of Sri Veeraraghava Perumal temple.

Uttrakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that the statue of Tamil saint-poet Thiruvalluvar will be installed in Haridwar with full respect in a week, in an exclusive interview to Puthiya Thalaimurai. Political parties and Tamil enthusiasts expressed their condemnation over a statue of Tamil saint-poet Thiruvalluvar lying wrapped in a park in Haridwar. BJP MP Tarun Vijay's plan to erect Thiruvalluvar's statue was dropped after locals protested against the move.
