Schönbrunn Palace (German: Schloss Schönbrunn [ʃøːnˈbʁʊn]) is a former imperial summer residence located in Vienna, Austria. The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments in the country. Since the mid-1950s it has been a major tourist attraction. The history of the palace and its vast gardens spans over 300 years, reflecting the changing tastes, interests, and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.
In the year 1569, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II purchased a large floodplain of the Wien river beneath a hill, situated between Meidling and Hietzing, where a former owner, in 1548, had erected a mansion called Katterburg. The emperor ordered the area to be fenced and put game there such as pheasants, ducks, deer and boar, in order to serve as the court's recreational hunting ground. In a small separate part of the area, "exotic" birds such as turkeys and peafowl were kept. Fishponds were built, too.

On the site of the old imperial château de plaisance a splendid edifice was to arise. Half a century later under Maria Theresa Schönbrunn Palace was to become the magnificent focus of court life. From that time onwards it played host to the leading statesmen of Europe. Although Austria is now a republic, Schönbrunn has remained a place of political encounter at the highest level. The magnificent architecture and the exquisite décor of its state rooms marks Schönbrunn out as a c...
Travel video about destination Schönbrunn Palace in Austria. In Austria in 1569, under Emperor Maximilian the Second, the Habsburg Dynasty acquired the former Maierhof as a hunting estate and Emperor Franz Joseph permitted the young architect, Fischer von Erlach, to design a new royal residence, the Schonbrunn Palace. More than 1700 beautifully-maintained rooms afforded the large Imperial family, and the whole royal entourage, much freedom of movement and the magnificent interior decor of the Palace is one of the most lavish of its time. The Palace Grounds contain the outstanding Neptun-Fountain and, at the highest point, the Gloriette, from which the entire palace grounds are visible as well as the charming Schonbrunn Zoo, the oldest animal enclosure in the world.

Free Memory Improvement Kit: http://www.magneticmemorymethod.com/free-memory-improvement-kit/ Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna makes for a great Memory Palace - if you choose how much of it you're going to use wisely. Seriously. You've got to put limits on how much of a building you use or you risk cognitive overwhelm. Mnemonics work best when you keep them manageable and this video helps you understand how to do that. Let me know what you think and talk soon! :) Sincerely, Anthony

Visit Tiergarten Schönbrunn, the Vienna Zoo located near the famous Schönbrunn Palace. Built in 1752 at the order of the Holy Emperor Francis I, the Schönbrunn Zoo is the oldest in the world. The baroque architecture of the menagerie-buildings, built after the Versailles model, is still preserved. Very few zoos worldwide are housing giant pandas. In Schönbrunn, you can see four of them. Another particularity of the Vienna Zoo is its rainforest house, where the visitors can experience the climate and admire the rich flora and animal life of the Amazon rainforest. Darkest Secrets About Buckingham Palace Revealed - BBC Documentary 2016 Buckingham Palace (UK /ˈbʌkɪŋəm/ /ˈpælɪs/[1][2]) is the official London residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.[3][4] Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality. It has been a focus for the British people at times of national rejoicing. Originally known as Buckingham House, the building at the core of today's palace was a large townhouse built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 on a site that had been in private ownership for at least 150 years. It was acquired by King George III in 1761[5] as a private residence for Queen Charlotte and became known as "The Queen's House". During the 19th century it was...
