Gustavo Kuerten Biography - Tennis Player as Guga
Gustavo Kuerten (born September 10, 1976) is a retired former World No. 1 tennis player from Brazil. He won the French Open three times (1997, 2000, and 2001), and was the Tennis Masters Cup champion in 2000, becoming the only player to defeat Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi in the same major tournament.
Kuerten suffered many problems with injuries which led him to miss a number of tournaments between 2002 and 2005. After a few failed attempts of comebacks, he retired from top-level tennis in May 2008.
Kuerten is also known as "Guga" an affectionate nickname which is a common abbreviation of the name "Gustavo" in Portuguese-speaking countries. He is a polyglot who speaks fluent Portuguese, Spanish, English, and French.

In marked by friendly banter of two players in Maracanãzinho, Brazilian beats No. 1 in the world by 2 sets to 0, partial 7/6 (9) and 7/5
Cries of "Gugaaaa, Gugaaaa" were present, but it soon became clear that the audience that filled the Maracanãzinho Saturday was not in the gym only to see the national idol. Novak Djokovic, world No. 1, had a small crowd and nothing to party a lot, did everything that was expected of a good visitor. Guga mimed, danced to the music of Michel Teló, mirim put a fan on the court and lifted the crowd. In the end, the host, who drew a heart on clay, repeating gesture Roland Garros/2001, came out with the win 7/6 (9) and 7/5.
- That means a lot to Brazil. That his effort to get to number 1 is amazing. I do not know how to thank this guy. He is special. Could not have beat him if you had played it. Still, Nole stumbled grace and with the help of the crowd, the two players pretended to see a repeat bid on the big screen. The "invisible replay" gave reason to the Brazilian, who escaped from a set point. The part was only decided in a tie-break played well. After wasting six set points, Djokovic threw a right into the network, committed a double fault and partially lost by 7/6 (9).
The range was to the tune of "Oh I Know It" by Michel Teló. Guga and Djokovic, guided by an instructor, joined the dance. With the beginning of the second part, came imitations. Nole put a wig, a band on the forehead and copied the mannerisms of Guga: nodded, straightened his hip before serving and groaned before hitting the ball.
The points mattered little. The two danced "Gangnam Style", and called for more children to court. Guga kissed a line judge, Nole and took off his shirt to receive massage of four beautiful girls. The most exciting moment of the night, however, was yet to come. When the screen showed a close image of the Brazilian shirt emblazoned Djokovic, the crowd cheered and screamed again "Guga, Guga". The three-time champion at Roland Garros, then repeated the gesture in 2001 and drew a heart on the court. Standing Maracanãzinho entire applauded.
Then Djokovic eased the game Guga. Missed easy balls, helped a new "roubadinha" and almost took the Brazilian to win by 7/5. The two, however, emerged as winners of court, to applause from the crowd in Maracanãzinho. After the thanks of both carnival atmosphere. Beside samba school dancers, the stars of the party risked the tambourine turned Maracanãzinho Sambadrome in for a few minutes and put an end to an unforgettable night in Rio de Janeiro.

Kuerten was born in Florianópolis in southern Brazil. He comes from an ethnically German family. He began playing tennis when he was six, an early start to a life and career marked by family tragedy. His father, a former amateur tennis player, died of a heart attack in 1985 while umpiring a junior tennis match in Curitiba, when Kuerten was only eight years old. His older brother, Raphael, is currently his business manager. His youngest brother suffered prolonged oxygen deprivation and consequently irreparable brain damage during birth, and as a result suffered from mental retardation and severe physical disability until his death in 2007. Kuerten was deeply affected by his brother's daily struggles, later donating the entire prize money from one tournament he has won every year of his professional career so far to a hometown NGO that provides assistance for people suffering from similar disabilities. He gave every trophy he won to his younger brother as a souvenir, including the three miniature replicas of the French Open men's singles trophy. His favourite football team is brazilian Avaí Futebol Clube.

Roger Federer (German pronunciation: [ˈfeːdəʁɐ]) (born 8 August 1981) is a Swiss professional tennis player who held the ATP No. 1 position for a record 237 consecutive weeks from 2 February 2004 to 18 August 2008. Federer has occupied the #1 ranking for 285 overall weeks, one week short of the record 286 weeks held by Pete Sampras. As of 28 May 2012, he is ranked World No. 3. Novak Djokovic (Serbian: Новак Ђоковић or Novak Đoković; pronounced [nɔ̂ʋaːk dʑɔ̂ːkɔʋitɕ] (
listen); born 22 May 1987) is a Serbian professional tennis player who has been ranked World No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) since 4 July 2011. He has won five Grand Slam singles titles: the 2008, 2011 and 2012 Australian Open, the 2011 Wimbledon Championships, and the 2011 US Open. By winning three Majors in 2011, Djokovic became the sixth male player in the open era to win three Majors in a calendar year.
He is the first male player representing Serbia to win a Major singles title and the youngest player in the open era to have reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events, separately and consecutively. Amongst other titles, he won the Tennis Masters Cup in 2008 and was on the team which won the 2010 Davis Cup. He also won the bronze medal in singles at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He has won 11 Masters 1000 series titles placing him joint fourth on the all time list. Djokovic has quickly moved up in the rankings of history. The Serb, embarrassed, apologized and kissed the referee. The Brazilian had a chance to serve for the set, but Djokovic raised his level and broke back.
Roubadinha saves Guga
Two games later, Nole hit a parallel indefensible and reached a set point. The Brazilian then joked and asked to use the replay system, not available in Maracanãzinho. Still, Nole stumbled grace and with the help of the crowd, the two players pretended to see a repeat bid on the big screen. The "invisible replay" gave reason to the Brazilian, who escaped from a set point. The part was only decided in a tie-break played well. After wasting six set points, Djokovic threw a right into the network, committed a double fault and partially lost by 7/6 (9).
The range was to the tune of "Oh I Know It" by Michel Teló. Guga and Djokovic, guided by an instructor, joined the dance. With the beginning of the second part, came imitations. Nole put a wig, a band on the forehead and copied the mannerisms of Guga: nodded, straightened his hip before serving and groaned before hitting the ball.
The points mattered little. The two danced "Gangnam Style", and called for more children to court. Guga kissed a line judge, Nole and took off his shirt to receive massage of four beautiful girls. The most exciting moment of the night, however, was yet to come. When the screen showed a close image of the Brazilian shirt emblazoned Djokovic, the crowd cheered and screamed again "Guga, Guga". The three-time champion at Roland Garros, then repeated the gesture in 2001 and drew a heart on the court. Standing Maracanãzinho entire applauded.
Then Djokovic eased the game Guga. Missed easy balls, helped a new "roubadinha" and almost took the Brazilian to win by 7/5. The two, however, emerged as winners of court, to applause from the crowd in Maracanãzinho. After the thanks of both carnival atmosphere. Djokovic has already left the locker room showing respect for the host. Roubadinha saves Guga
Two games later, Nole hit a parallel indefensible and reached a set point. The Brazilian then joked and asked to use the replay system, not available in Maracanãzinho. Still, Nole stumbled grace and with the help of the crowd, the two players pretended to see a repeat bid on the big screen. The "invisible replay" gave reason to the Brazilian, who escaped from a set point. The part was only decided in a tie-break played well. After wasting six set points, Djokovic threw a right into the network, committed a double fault and partially lost by 7/6 (9).
The range was to the tune of "Oh I Know It" by Michel Teló. Guga and Djokovic, guided by an instructor, joined the dance. With the beginning of the second part, came imitations. Nole put a wig, a band on the forehead and copied the mannerisms of Guga: nodded, straightened his hip before serving and groaned before hitting the ball.
The points mattered little. The two danced "Gangnam Style", and called for more children to court. Guga kissed a line judge, Nole and took off his shirt to receive massage of four beautiful girls. The most exciting moment of the night, however, was yet to come. When the screen showed a close image of the Brazilian shirt emblazoned Djokovic, the crowd cheered and screamed again "Guga, Guga". The three-time champion at Roland Garros, then repeated the gesture in 2001 and drew a heart on the court. Standing Maracanãzinho entire applauded.
Then Djokovic eased the game Guga. Missed easy balls, helped a new "roubadinha" and almost took the Brazilian to win by 7/5. The two, however, emerged as winners of court, to applause from the crowd in Maracanãzinho. After the thanks of both carnival atmosphere. Beside samba school dancers, the stars of the party risked the tambourine turned Maracanãzinho Sambadrome in for a few minutes and put an end to an unforgettable night in Rio de Janeiro.
