Slowly, oldest daughter Katia follows her mother into the same obscure world. Our heroine, Katia's Sister, adores her older beautiful sister Katia, but she is getting more and more lonely, having nobody to share her feelings with. Although her surroundings are harsh, she does not judge. She continues to see the world in an unconditional and even loving manner. Despite her non-judgmental attitude, she becomes increasingly isolated, creating her own protective universe in which she sacrifices a lot, even her own name, referring to herself only as "Katia's Sister."

"Smile" -Charlie Chaplin, John Turner, and Geoffrey Parsons
"
Smile" is based on an instrumental theme used in the soundtrack for the 1936
Charlie Chaplin movie
Modern Times.
Chaplin composed the music, while
John Turner and
Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics and title in 1954. Thats when
Nat King Cole did a cover of it and in my opinion the best version ever recorded.
Michael Jackson and
Natalie Cole also did covers on their albums. It was recently featured in the hit
TV show Glee. To my daughters amazement I proved to her that the song was from 1936!
I always think of clowns/comedians when I hear this song. That their laughter is often to hide their tears. Very fitting for Charlie Chaplin and some friends
I've had through the years. So just smile

Montreal riding of
St. Lawrence--St. George in 1962 and in
1965 Lester Pearson named him to cabinet as minister without portfolio.
After
Pierre Elliott Trudeau was elected leader in
1968, Turner was appointed justice minister and later finance minister. It was as finance minister that Turner faced his greatest political challenge. A dispute over wage and price controls compelled Turner to quit and for the next nine years Turner led a very successful and lucrative career as a
Bay Street lawyer.
Lured back to politics by
Trudeau's resignation and the possibility of becoming leader, Turner offered his candidacy to the
Liberal party. Turner defeated
Jean Chretien on the second ballot to become the 17th prime minister of Canada despite not having a seat in the Commons or the
Senate.
Less than three months later, Turner was thumped in an election that saw the
Liberal Party reduced to 40 seats. Four years later, the
Liberals lost again, and despite having doubled the party's seat total to 83,
Turner's position as leader was untenable. He stepped down as leader but continued to sit as an MP for
Vancouver Quadra until
1993.
Turner returned to the private sector and only recently retired from the law firm
Miller Thomson.
