Gay pride or LGBT pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements throughout the world. Pride has lent its name to LGBT-themed organizations, institutes, foundations, book titles, periodicals and even a cable TV station and the Pride Library.
Ranging from solemn to carnivalesque, pride events are typically held during LGBT Pride Month or some other period that commemorates a turning point in a country’s LGBT history, for example Moscow Pride in May for the anniversary of Russia's 1993 decriminalization of homosexuality. Some pride events include LGBT pride parades and marches, rallies, commemorations, community days, dance parties, and large festivals, such as Sydney Mardi Gras, which spans several weeks.
MTV (formerly an initialism of Music Television) is an American basic cable and satellite television channel which is a part of the "Viacom Music and Entertainment Group" unit of the Viacom Media Networks division of Viacom, of which it is a subsidiary. The channel itself is headquartered in New York City. Launched on August 1, 1981, the original purpose of the channel was to play music videos guided by television personalities known as "video jockeys," or VJs. The network's current target audience is teenagers and young adults, with programming consisting mainly of original reality, comedy and drama programming and some off-network syndicated programs and films, along with limited music video programming in off-peak time periods. In its early years, MTV's main target demographic were young adults, but today, MTV's programming is primarily targeted at teenagers, high school students and college-aged students.
MTV has spawned numerous sister channels in the U.S. and affiliated channels internationally, some of which have gone independent. MTV's influence on its audience, including issues related to censorship and social activism, has been a subject of debate for years.
Pride is an inwardly directed emotion that carries two meanings. With a negative connotation pride refers to an inflated sense of one's personal status or accomplishments, often used synonymously with hubris. With a positive connotation, pride refers to a satisfied sense of attachment toward one's own or another's choices and actions, or toward a whole group of people, and is a product of praise, independent self-reflection, and a fulfilled feeling of belonging. Philosophers and social psychologists have noted that pride is a complex secondary emotion which requires the development of a sense of self and the mastery of relevant conceptual distinctions (e.g., that pride is distinct from happiness and joy) through language-based interaction with others. Some social psychologists identify it as linked to a signal of high social status. In contrast pride could also be defined as a disagreement with the truth. One definition of pride in the first sense comes from St. Augustine: "the love of one's own excellence". A similar definition comes from Meher Baba: "Pride is the specific feeling through which egoism manifests." In this sense, the opposite of pride is either humility or guilt; the latter in particular being a sense of one's own failure in contrast to Augustine's notion of excellence.
The LGBT community or GLBT community, commonly referred to as the gay community, is a loosely defined grouping of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) and LGBT-supportive people, organizations, and subcultures, united by a common culture and social movements. These communities generally celebrate pride, diversity, individuality, and sexuality. LGBT activists and sociologists see LGBT community-building as a counterbalance to heterosexism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, sexualism, and conformist pressures that exist in the larger society. The term gay pride is used to express the LGBT community's identity and collective strength; gay pride parades provide both a prime example of the use and a demonstration of the general meaning of the term. The LGBT community is diverse in political affiliation. Not all LGBT individuals consider themselves part of an LGBT community.
Groups that may be considered part of the LGBT community include gay villages, LGBT rights organizations, LGBT employee groups at companies, LGBT student groups in schools and universities, and LGBT-affirming religious groups.

This month is Pride Month, and its a very important time to be educated and pay tribute to those who came before us fighting the struggles for equality and the present fight that still is being fought against oppression today. It's also, I think, a good time to come together and be proud of who we are. This can be tough sometimes, as it was for so many of my friends and I. So I decided, for this video, to do something special, and sit down with a lot of my friends and answer some questions you all may have had about our personal experiences with our identity. We don't represent everyone on the spectrum, and we can only speak from our own personal experiences, we don't know everything, but hopefully, something we say may help some of you out there watching. I started this randomly last month because I though that a girl with rainbow hair sounds awesome. And then I remembered that it was pride month. So I did a bunch for a bunch of other sexualities and gender identities. That made quite a few people happy as well as myself :) The full sized drawings can be seen here: http://danshing-yehet.tumblr.com/post/145730346629/im-running-out-of-portrait-poses-also-i-do http://danshing-yehet.tumblr.com/post/146293486344/its-128-am-where-i-am-now-these-took-quite-a http://danshing-yehet.tumblr.com/post/145578552844/all-of-my-current-pride-doodles-for-pride-month http://danshing-yehet.tumblr.com/post/146525327619/i-knew-i-forgot-to-add-one http://danshing-yehet.tumblr.com/post/145523699409/ive-started-doing-a-thing-and-i-really-like-where ----------...
Marie and I went to the Korea Queer Festival and Pride Parade for 2015!!! The KQF had several events during Pride month, and all were amazing. The highlight, though, was definitely the Pride Parade, held on June 28th. It is estimated that about 20,000 ~30,000 people showed up for the month long events, and about 6,000 people actually marched in the Pride Parade. It was the largest turn out of supporters in the history of the event in Korea!!! What a great time for Korea! ^^ **NOTICE: Music at 11:51 was muted by YouTube because of copyright issues. The song was "Starship" by Nicki Minaj, so just pretend you're listening to that song while everyone is dancing in the streets. hehehe I went to the KQF in 2014 in Hongdae, and it was only a fraction of the size. The parade had just a...
