Elliot John Gleave (born 20 June 1982), better known by his stage name Example, is an English singer, songwriter and rapper signed to Epic Records and Sony Music. His name arose due to his initials being E.G., which is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase exempli gratia ("for example").
Example first found success with the release of his second studio album, Won't Go Quietly, which peaked at number 4 on the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number 1 on the UK Dance Chart. and followed his debut album "What We Made" which was heavily hip-hop influenced due to Gleave only knowing a hip-hop record producer at the time. The album had two top 10 singles, "Won't Go Quietly" and "Kickstarts". His third album Playing in the Shadows was released on 4 September 2011. The album topped the charts with two number 1 singles, "Changed the Way You Kiss Me" (produced by Michael Woods) and "Stay Awake" (produced by electronic duo Nero). His fourth album, The Evolution of Man was released on 19 November 2012 and peaked at number 13 on the UK Albums Chart and also peaked at number 1 on the UK Dance Chart.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. How can several pieces of music sound familiar and accessible to different geographical regions? Ross Daly, a real resident of the world, initiates us into the fascinating paths of modal music while making a state on the reality and importance cultural crossroads and historical interplay.

It would not be easy for Ross Daly to be categorized under a certain “national” stereotype: born in England of Irish parents, he has lived in many different countries around the world and came to the conclusion that Crete should be his residence and the place to create music. Apart from his musical talent, Ross Daly is also known for his willingness to bring people together: he founded a music workshop, the “Labyrinth”, where artists of all nationalities meet and unite magical world sounds. The workshop is located in the village of Houdetsi and has become the core of musical experimentation and seminars, a sanctuary of creativity.

Elliot Gleave was born at a West London Pub, Hammersmith, the elder of two children, and attended All Saints Primary School in Fulham. He later went on to attend ADT College (now Ashcroft Technology Academy) in Wandsworth. Gleave has claimed in interviews that the main reason he started rapping was due to his introduction to hip-hop through albums by Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dogg – the latter's album purchased primarily for "the cool cover art".

Mark Daniel Ronson (born 4 September 1975) is an English DJ, musician, music producer, artist and co-founder of Allido Records. He currently works with his band under the music alias of Mark Ronson & The Business Intl.
While his debut album Here Comes the Fuzz failed to make an impact on the charts, his second album, Version included three top ten hits and won Ronson a Brit Award for Best British Male Artist in 2008. His third studio album, Record Collection, was released on 27 September 2010.
Ronson was born at the Wellington Hospital, St John's Wood, to writer/socialite Ann Dexter-Jones and one-time band manager and real estate entrepreneur Laurence Ronson. His parents are of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, with ancestors from Austria, Russia, and Lithuania, and Ronson was brought up in Conservative Judaism. Ronson's family name was originally Aaronson, but his grandfather Henry Ronson changed it to Ronson. Ronson is the nephew of property tycoon Gerald Ronson. Ronson is related to British Conservative politicians Sir Malcolm Rifkind and Leon Brittan, as well as Odeon Cinemas founder Oscar Deutsch. Ronson has twin sisters who are two years younger than him, Charlotte Ronson, a fashion designer, and Samantha Ronson, a singer and DJ. Ronson also has five younger half-siblings. Alexander and Annabelle, through his mother's remarriage to Mick Jones as well as Henrietta, David and Joshua, through his father's remarriage to model Michele First. After his parents broke up, his mother married Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones, which contributed to a childhood surrounded by music.

Ross Daly, a real resident of the world, initiates us into the fascinating paths of modal music while making a state on the reality and importance cultural crossroads and historical interplay.

It would not be easy for Ross Daly to be categorized under a certain “national” stereotype: born in England of Irish parents, he has lived in many different countries around the world and came to the conclusion that Crete should be his residence and the place to create music. Apart from his musical talent, Ross Daly is also known for his willingness to bring people together: he founded a music workshop, the “Labyrinth”, where artists of all nationalities meet and unite magical world sounds. The workshop is located in the village of Houdetsi and has become the core of musical experimentation and seminars, a sanctuary of creativity.

The Baker College senior and Albuquerque, N.M., native is graduating in May with not one, not two, but three degrees – and one of them is a master's degree (in percussion performance)! Sanchez said his two undergraduate degree majors – mathematics and music (percussion performance) – are more similar than one might expect. Sanchez said performing with the Shepherd School orchestra is something he looks forward to every week. Lucas Sanchez is the perfect example of an "unconventional" Rice student. The Baker College senior and Albuquerque, N.M., native is graduating in May with not one, not two, but three degrees – and one of them is a master's degree (in percussion performance)!
Sanchez said his two undergraduate degree majors – mathematics and music (percussion performance) – are more similar than one might expect. And he said it's nice to have them as a break from one another.
"A lot of music is actually math," Sanchez said. "Fractions, pitch levels, etc., derive from mathematics. And the processes that I take to attack a problem set are the same processes that I take to attack a new piece of music. My fascination for both the beauty of math and music has kept me going in both fields."

Wikipedia defines musical modulation as the act or process of changing from one key (tonic or tonal center) to another. This may or may not be accompanied by a change in key signature. So, any time the tonal center or key of a piece of music changes, a modulation has occurred. The two main categories of musical modulation are diatonic and chromatic modulation. In diatonic modulation, the transitional device (chord or pitch) used to modulate is diatonic to both the old and new key. In chromatic modulation the transitional device (chord or pitch) used to modulate is chromatic to the old key and leads to the new key. Since both chords and pitches can be used as transitional devices, there are two types of diatonic modulation called common (or pivot) chord and common tone modulation. There is also another type of modulation called enharmonic modulation which involves the enharmonic respelling of pitches. This type of modulation can be categorized as either diatonic or chromatic depending on how we view the respelled pitch. I will cover this and chromatic modulation in more detail next week.
Common (or pivot) chord modulation utilizes a chord that is common to both keys as a device to modulate from one key to the next. When utilizing this technique, the composer (or musician) travels through a chord progression until arriving at the common chord. He/she then instantly shifts his/her analysis of that chord by relating it to the new key and finishing the progression in the new key. The included video provides several musical examples of this.
Common tone modulation utilizes a pitch that is common to both keys. This pitch is either sustained or sounded repeatedly, allowing the harmonic structure to change from a chord in the original key to a chord in the new key. Since both chords share the common tone, the transition is perceived as smooth. The included video provides a musical example of this.
Understanding the used of common chord and common tone modulation will help us to be able to identify these techniques when they occur in everyday musical examples. Knowledge of these techniques can also be used in musical performance when playing open styles of music (jazz, rock, pop, gospel or worship) from lead sheets. In these styles, musicians often throw in modulations in order to increase the intensity of the song, or smoothly transition from one song to the next in a set list.

The Four Seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi. Composed in 1723, The Four Seasons is Vivaldi's best-known work, and is among the most popular pieces of Baroque music. The texture of each concerto is varied, each resembling its respective season. For example, "Winter" is peppered with silvery pizzicato notes from the high strings, calling to mind icy rain, whereas "Summer" evokes a thunderstorm in its final movement, which is why the movement is often dubbed "Storm."
The concertos were first published in 1725 as part of a set of twelve concerti, Vivaldi's Op. 8, entitled Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione (The Contest between Harmony and Invention). The first four concertos were designated Le quattro stagioni, each being named after a season. Each one is in three movements, with a slow movement between two faster ones. At the time of writing The Four Seasons, the modern solo form of the concerto had not yet been defined (typically a solo instrument and accompanying orchestra). Vivaldi's original arrangement for solo violin with string quartet and basso continuo helped to define the form.

A = 432 Hz, known as the '' A 'Verdi is an alternative tuning that is mathematically consistent with the universe. Music based on 432Hz transmits energy healing advantageous because it is a pure fundamental calculation in nature
According brain T. Collins, a musician and researcher, the standard pitch (A = 440 Hz) does not harmonize on any level that corresponds to the cosmic movement, rhythm, or natural vibration.
The greatest musicians such as Mozart and Verdi, based their music on the natural vibration A = 432. It is true that only 8 vibrations per second different from the standard tuning, but this small difference seems remarkable to our human consciousness.
Many people experience more meditative states and relaxation of body and mind to listen to this music. The natural musical pitch of the universe sounds more harmonious and enjoyable as 440 Hz.
432 Hz seems to work at the heart chakra, "the feeling", and could therefore have a good influence on the spiritual development of the hearer. Some people who are not able to distinguish the difference 8hz claim they can feel the music hotter because of the wavelength.
Because 432 Hz gives a greater clarity than 440 Hz, there is less need to play as loud as 440 Hz.
This means less hearing damage, as long as you turn the volume too high. In addition, there is less noise pressure too. Researchers and musicians, such as Coreen Morsink (pianist and music teacher) say they feel calmer, happier and more relaxed when the music 432Hz.
Music based on this natural tone is more transparent, strong, gives a clear picture musical and harmonic nuances and moves more freely. Music based on 440 Hz represents emotions plush and blocked energy. By lowering the height of only 8 Hz, you have become more flexible and spontaneous.

The American Federation of Musicians accepted the A440 as the standard height in 1917. Around 1940 the United States introduced 440 Hz around the world, and finally in 1953 he became the 16-ISO standard.
There is a theory that the change of 432Hz to 440Hz was dictated by the Nazi propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels. He used it to make people think and feel a certain way, and make them prisoner of a certain consciousness.
Joseph Goebbels theory is certainly interesting, but the real reason of the transition to 440Hz is not yet clearly explained.
Before 440Hz became standard, a variety of settings were used. The controversy over the agreement is still raging, with promoters claiming 432Hz as more natural than the current standard. Because of this, the "return to 432Hz" committee wants to get people familiar with its features, and hopes that the industry will change the standard so musician.
