Lincoln Barrett, better known by the stage name High Contrast (born 18 September 1979, Penarth, Cardiff), is a Welsh drum and bass DJ and producer.
Barrett grew up more interested in films and film soundtracks rather than music, and still cites Wendy Carlos's A Clockwork Orange soundtrack album and the Vangelis soundtrack for Blade Runner as defining musical influences. Whilst studying film making in Newport, he heard J Majik's Arabian Nights which turned the then 17-year-old Barrett on to drum and bass music. Barrett used to work in Cardiff's only electronic record shop, Catapult. A short time after he began to make music, he was given a DJ residency at Cardiff's drum and bass night, named Silent Running. During his residency at Silent Running, Barrett played alongside artists such as Grooverider and London Elektricity.
In June 2002, Barrett's debut album, True Colours, was released on Hospital Records, with "Return of Forever" and "Global Love" finding their way into the UK Singles Chart. His second album was High Society.

Dylan Kwabena Mills (born 18 September 1984), better known by his stage name Dizzee Rascal, is a UK and US-based rapper, songwriter and record producer of Ghanaian and Nigerian descent. His music is a blend of garage, hip hop, grime, ragga, pop and electronic music, with eclectic samples and more exotic styles. Best known for his number-one hits "Dance wiv Me", "Bonkers", "Holiday", "Dirtee Disco" & "Shout", his debut album, Boy in da Corner, won him the 2003 Mercury Prize. Follow-up albums Showtime, Maths + English and Tongue n' Cheek have all been critically acclaimed and certified gold, the last going platinum for sales exceeding 300,000 units.
Mills' Nigerian father died when he was young, and he was raised in Bow, in the East End of London in a single-parent family by his Ghanaian mother Priscilla, about whom he says: "I had issues as a kid. I was violent and disruptive. The way my mum helped was by finding me a different school every time I got kicked out, always fighting to keep me in the school system" he attended St Pauls Way Community School.

High Contrast is quite simply one of the best producers to ever try their hand at d'n'b. Since he was first signed to Hospital Records way back in 2000 due to his ground-breaking Mini Disc demos, he's gone on to become one of the most iconic and well respected producers in the genre. Releases such as 'High Society' and 'Tough Guys Don't Dance' as well as his iconic FabricLive 25 mix and being asked to write the music for the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony have guaranteed him a place in dance music history.
Jimmy Edgar is a producer who oozes musical brilliance. The Berlin-based artist has been a prolific musician from as early as 15. In his late teens he had already had his first releases under his belt on Poker Flat and has been on the way to the top ever since. Releases on the likes of Warp and Hotflush came next and most recently an EP on Ultramajic, a new label fronted by the man himself and longterm friend Travis 'Machinedrum' Stewart.
This week's Lab looks set to be the perfect cocktail of all things underground as we take you through d'n'b, techno and house.
