Adam is a common masculine given name.
The personal name Adam derives from the Hebrew noun ha adamah meaning "the ground" or "earth". It is still a Hebrew given name, and its Quranic and Biblical usage has ensured that it is also a common name in all countries which draw on these traditions. It is particularly common in Christian- and Muslim-majority countries. In most languages its spelling is the same, although the pronunciation varies somewhat. Adán is the Spanish form of this name.
Adam is also a surname in many countries, although it is not as common in English as its derivative Adams (sometimes spelled Addams). In other languages there are similar surnames derived from Adam, such as Adamo, Adamov, Adamowicz, Adamski etc.
In Arabic, Adam (آدم) means "made from the earth/mud/clay".
Adam is a 1983 American television film starring Daniel J. Travanti and JoBeth Williams. It aired on October 10, 1983 on NBC. On its original air date, it was seen by an audience of 38 million people. It was rebroadcast on April 30, 1984, and again on April 29, 1985. At the end of each broadcast of the film, a series of missing children's photographs and descriptions were displayed on the screen for viewers, and a number was given to call if a viewer had information about them. The 1985 photograph series was introduced by President Ronald Reagan in a pre-recorded message, "...maybe your eyes can help bring them home." A sequel, Adam: His Song Continues followed on September 29, 1986, also starring Travanti and Williams .
The first part of the film portrays the story of the kidnapping and murder of Adam Walsh on July 27, 1981, along with the effects of this event on the marriage of John and Revé Walsh. The second part of the movie focuses on the Walsh's attempts to pass national child protection laws in the wake of Adam's murder, and the formation of awareness groups surrounding child disappearances. The film was written by Allan Leicht and directed by Michael Tuchner.
Roger Adam was a French aircraft designer and manufacturer who produced light aircraft in kit from 1948 to 1955. He established the firm Etablissements Aeronautiques R. Adam.

It seems like a simple question: Singing sounds like singing, and speech... doesn't. But it turns out it's not quite that easy to nail down, because recent studies in music psychology indicate that the difference may not actually be sound-based at all. With a stunningly simple twist, researchers were reliably able to take clearly spoken audio samples and convince their listeners they were hearing singing. How? Well, you'll have to watch the video. What happens when our brain loses its innate complexity? Neurosurgeon and Professor of Neurosurgery at NYU, Werner Doyle, knows that seizures happen from a loss of complexity in the brain. Driven to develop processes to promote and sustain complexity, Dr. Doyle addresses the value of complexity and how we may self-generate it. Specializing in epilepsy surgery while collaborating with neuroscientists at NYU studying brain mechanisms, he is also quite the Renaissance man what with his interest in contemplative neuroscience, building Buckminster Fuller geodesic domes, and 3-D printing. Found Tapes is a new weekly show that highlights some of the rarest, wierdest, and sometimes just really cool videos that people send to us. This week, mosey back to the 90s and grab a front row seat to the rise and fall of Seattle grunge legends TAD. Busted Circuits and Ringing Ears chronicles the band's ascent to become one of the most crucial bands of the grunge era, and delves into the legal troubles that embroiled the band's key members before its eventual disintegration. It's an itnrugiing, and tragic, story of what could have been. The hour-and-a-half documentary was produced by Ryan Short and Adam Pease and contains archival footage that spans the band's entire career, from the club days to the arenas. Interviews with nearly all of Tad's members past and present (save for guitaris...

On December 14, 2012, the day Adam Lanza killed his mother, then walked into a school in Newtown, Connecticut and shot 20 first graders and 6 brave educators, I shared my struggles as a parent of a child with mental illness on my anonymous blog, the Anarchist Soccer Mom. The post went viral, and it caused quite a bit of controversy. In that post, I wrote, "It's time to talk about mental illness." Why? One in five children has a serious and debilitating mental disorder. More than 4600 children and young people die each year from completing suicide. And yet across America, parents are struggling to find solutions for their hurting children. Too often, the only solution is jail: between 50 and 75 percent of children in juvenile detention have mental illness, often untreated, at a tremendous c...
