Lee So-young (born 31 August 1973) is South Korean manhwa artist. Her works including Model and Arcana are licensed by Tokyopop.

Model (art)

An art model is a model who poses for any visual artist as part of the creative process. The most common types of art works which use models are figure drawing, figure painting, sculpture and photography, but almost any medium may be used.

Art models are often paid professionals who pose or provide the human figure in a work of art. Though professional, art models are usually anonymous and unacknowledged subjects of the work. Models are most frequently employed for art classes or by informal groups of experienced artists that gather to share the expense of a model. Models are also employed privately by professional artists. Although commercial motives dominate over aesthetics in illustration, its artwork commonly employs models. For example, Norman Rockwell used his friends and neighbors as models for both his commercial and fine art work. An individual who is having their own portrait painted or sculpted is usually called a "sitter" rather than a model, since they are paying to have the work done rather than being paid to pose.

Mimicry

In evolutionary biology, mimicry is a similarity of one species to another that protects one or both. In the case of prey species, it is a class of antipredator adaptation. This similarity can be in appearance, behaviour, sound or scent. Mimics occur in the same areas as their models.

Mimicry occurs when a group of organisms, the mimics, evolve to share perceived characteristics with another group, the models. The evolution is driven by the selective action of a signal-receiver or dupe. Birds, for example, use sight to identify palatable insects (the mimics), whilst avoiding the noxious models.

The model is usually another species, except in cases of automimicry. The deceived signal-receiver is typically another organism, such as the common predator of two species. As an interaction, mimicry is in most cases advantageous to the mimic and harmful to the receiver, but may increase, reduce or have no effect on the fitness of the model depending on the situation. The model may be hard to identify: for example, eye spots may not resemble any specific organism's eyes, and camouflage often cannot be attributed to a particular model.

Solution (Solution album)

Solution is the first album by the Dutch symphonic rock group Solution. It was released in 1971 on the Decca label.

History

It is the only Solution album to feature original vocalist and bassist Peter van der Sande, who was replaced by Guus Willemse around the time of the LP release. Van der Sande provides raw vocals on "Phases", while the other four tracks are instrumental. Solution was recorded over three consecutive days in May 1971.

"Koan", "Trane Steps" and "Circus Circumstances" all feature frantic ensemble playing by the band, complemented by the relatively peaceful "Preview". The theme from the latter song would later be incorporated into the codas of "Second Line" and "Third Line" on the subsequent two albums.

"Circus Circumstances" is based on a composition by French composer Jacques Ibert.

In 1976 Solution was coupled with Divergence as a double album, retaining the eponymous title. This pairing was issued by EMI on Compact Disc in 1988 and again in 2007. In 2006, the entirety of the first album was included on The Ultimate Collection.

Solution (dinghy)

The Solution is a single handed hiking dinghy designed for helms in the 65 to 85 kg (10 to 14 Stone) weight range. It has a light epoxy hull, self draining cockpit, high aspect rig, semi battened 8.5 sq. metre sail, and full complement of dual controls.

History

The original design by Kevin Clark and Andrew Elliott dates from 2005. The design is similar to that of the Phantom, though aimed at lighter sailors. The boat was originally marketed by Red Eye Sails with the name Red Eye Solution, the hulls being manufactured by Ovington Boats. The boat was reviewed by Yachts and Yachting, by Dinghy Magazine and by Sail-World. In 2008 the entire Solution operation was taken over by Ovington. The Red Eye fish logo was retained, and remains the class symbol. Several design changes were introduced at this time.

Solution 13

Solution 13 is a Finnish dark metal band consisting of Risto Stenroos, Sami Kukkohovi, Tarmo Kanerva, and Petri Sääskö.

History

In 2000, Petri, Ilkka Järvenpää and Tarmo started writing some songs, using the name Confusion Red. They recorded a demo CD in December, inviting Sami Kukkohovi (bass player of Sentenced) to play bass as a session musician. He became a full member of the band shortly afterward.

In 2001, the band changed their name to Solution 13 and recorded a second demo. The German magazine Rock Hard used the track "No Reply" from this demo on a free compilation CD.

In November 2001, they recorded their self-titled debut album with producer Kari Vähäkuopus, which was released through Finland's Low Frequency Records in autumn of 2002.

Vocalist Ilkka Järvenpää left in March, 2004, and was replaced by singer Risto Stenroos.
