The opening ceremony of the XXVII. Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney set a new standard for the Olympic opening ceremony. It is still considered the best opening ceremony ever. 120 000 spectators and more than 12,000 performers were involved in the nearly 5-hour show. The artistic director of the show, David Atkins was the only member of the organizing team of the Games in Sydney with the gold pin of the International Olympic Committee signed off. 2006 David Atkins produced his partner Ignatius Jones and its major events company the Opening and Closing Ceremony 15th Asian Games in Doha (Qatar). The two Olympic ceremonies of the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, was designed by David Atkins Enterprises, developed and produced. David Atkins is now the leading producer of major events worldwide.
The opening ceremony began with 120 stockmen and their Stock Horses. The stockmen are the Australian version of the Cowboys.
They carried the Olympic flag and rode to the music of "The Man from Snowy River".
"The Man from Snowy River" is a famous Australian poem by Banjo Petersen, who also wrote the text for Australia's unofficial national anthem "Waltzing Matilda".
The poem was the inspiration for the eponymous Australian feature film. The music was composed by Bruce Rowland.
The opening ceremony was the music of Bruce Rowland The Man from Snowy River "as" Olympic "version rearranged. During the opening ceremony he conducted in this scene and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
The official Australian national anthem was by James Morrison, the Swing City Band, Human Nature, Julie Anthony, the listed Sydney Millennium Choir and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The musical director of the opening ceremony, Max Lambert, arranged the pieces and Simone Young conducted the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

The Sydney 2000 Summer Olympic Games or the Millennium Games/Games of the New Millennium, officially known as the Games of the XXVII Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event which was celebrated between 15 September and 1 October 2000 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was the second time that the Summer Olympics were held in the Southern Hemisphere, the first one being in Melbourne in 1956, and as a result of this location and the dates, took place in early spring.
Sydney won the right to host the Games on 24 September 1993, after being selected over Beijing, Berlin, Istanbul and Manchester in four rounds of voting, at the 101st IOC Session in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
The main stadium hosts concerts and sporting events every year including the annual National Rugby League Grand Final, as well as being the home ground of two NRL teams, the Canterbury Bulldogs and South Sydney Rabbitohs and the New South Wales Blues State of Origin team. The Aquatic centre became a public swimming centre. The Olympic site itself has been used for the final race of the V8 Supercars Championship (Sydney 500) since 2009.

Sydney (
/sɪdni/) is the most populous city in Australia and the state capital of New South Wales. Sydney is classified as an Alpha+ World City indicating its influence in the region and throughout the world.
Sydney is located on Australia's south-east coast of the Tasman Sea. As of June 2010, the greater metropolitan area had an approximate population of 4.6 million people. Inhabitants of Sydney are called Sydneysiders, comprising a cosmopolitan and international population.
The site of the first British colony in Australia, Sydney was established in 1788 at Sydney Cove by Arthur Phillip, commodore of the First Fleet as a penal colony. The city is built on hills surrounding Port Jackson which is commonly known as Sydney Harbour, where the iconic Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge feature prominently. The hinterland of the metropolitan area is surrounded by national parks, and the coastal regions feature many bays, rivers, inlets and beaches including the famous Bondi Beach and Manly Beach. Within the city are many notable parks, including Hyde Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

"The Man" is a slang phrase that may refer to the government or to some other authority in a position of power. In addition to this derogatory connotation, it may also serve as a term of respect and praise.
The phrase "the Man is keeping me down" is commonly used to describe oppression. The phrase "stick it to the Man" encourages resistance to authority, and essentially means "fight back" or "resist", either openly or via sabotage.
The earliest recorded use[citation needed] of the term "the Man" in the American sense dates back to a letter written by a young Alexander Hamilton in September 1772, when he was 15. In a letter to his father James Hamilton, published in the Royal Dutch-American Gazette, he described the response of the Dutch governor of St. Croix to a hurricane that raked that island on August 31, 1772. "Our General has issued several very salutary and humane regulations and both in his publick and private measures, has shewn himself the Man." [dubious – discuss] In the Southern U.S. states, the phrase came to be applied to any man or any group in a position of authority, or to authority in the abstract. From about the 1950s the phrase was also an underworld code word for police, the warden of a prison or other law enforcement or penal authorities.

The opening ceremony of the XXVII. Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney set a new standard for the Olympic opening ceremony. The artistic director of the show, David Atkins was the only member of the organizing team of the Games in Sydney with the gold pin of the International Olympic Committee signed off. 2006 David Atkins produced his partner Ignatius Jones and its major events company the Opening and Closing Ceremony 15th Asian Games in Doha (Qatar). The two Olympic ceremonies of the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, was designed by David Atkins Enterprises, developed and produced. David Atkins is now the leading producer of major events worldwide.
The opening ceremony began with 120 stockmen and their Stock Horses. The stockmen are the Australian version of the Cowboys.
They carried the Olympic flag and rode to the music of "The Man from Snowy River".
"The Man from Snowy River" is a famous Australian poem by Banjo Petersen, who also wrote the text for Australia's unofficial national anthem "Waltzing Matilda".
The poem was the inspiration for the eponymous Australian feature film. The music was composed by Bruce Rowland.
The opening ceremony was the music of Bruce Rowland The Man from Snowy River "as" Olympic "version rearranged. During the opening ceremony he conducted in this scene and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
The official Australian national anthem was by James Morrison, the Swing City Band, Human Nature, Julie Anthony, the listed Sydney Millennium Choir and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The musical director of the opening ceremony, Max Lambert, arranged the pieces and Simone Young conducted the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

My Australia: Sydney 2015
My week in Sydney, Australia was simply the most memorable week I can recall. ..Maybe I'm being a bit biased since it's quite recent but it was a week for the ages and I got a chance to spend it with an incredible host who I met in Guangzhou, China 6 weeks prior. I call her the Queen of Australia and the goddess of Oceania because she's quite something to behold...an incredible human being! She really set the highest standard possible for what every vacation week should be. I tried so much and did even more and said "wow" more than a million times. Every moment felt so natural and special and of course the foods were as delicious as they were diverse. Omelettes, meat pies, pizzas, even sweet potatoes and regular fries delivered such tantalizing flavors to my senses. And of course I can't ... -

Sydney started as the first European colony in Australasia. What made the location a natural choice for colonisation was the enormous natural harbour in the vicinity. The harbour, often called Sydney Harbour, is actually called Jackson Harbour, and is one of the largest natural harbours in the world. The English colony was primarily set up as a penal colony for convicts. Prisoners would enter the colony through the harbour where they were set to work in vast camps and farms. Since those early beginnings the city has grown into a huge cosmopolitan settlement, and a real representation of Australia as a whole. Many people from all over the world have travelled to Sydney, and now call it home, creating one of the world’s greatest multicultural hotspots.
The visitor to Sydney will obviously make the city centre their starting point. When it comes to shopping, nothing quite matches Pitt Street’s charm and choice of international brands. From city centre the visitor can visit a number of museums and art galleries, but a trip to the Sydney Opera House is a certainty. If you’re looking for entertainment and nightlife then take the next boat out of Sydney and across the water to Darling Harbour. Darling Harbour has become known as the entertainment complex for the entire city. My week in Sydney, Australia was simply the most memorable week I can recall. ..Maybe I'm being a bit biased since it's quite recent but it was a week for the a...
My week in Sydney, Australia was simply the most memorable week I can recall. ..Maybe I'm being a bit biased since it's quite recent but it was a week for the ages and I got a chance to spend it with an incredible host who I met in Guangzhou, China 6 weeks prior. I call her the Queen of Australia and the goddess of Oceania because she's quite something to behold...an incredible human being!
She really set the highest standard possible for what every vacation week should be. I tried so much and did even more and said "wow" more than a million times. Every moment felt so natural and special and of course the foods were as delicious as they were diverse. Omelettes, meat pies, pizzas, even sweet potatoes and regular fries delivered such tantalizing flavors to my senses. And of course I can't forget the people...The people in Sydney were extremely welcoming, friendly and adorable with hospitality and "tiny crowds." I often joked about how cute and tiny the crowds were and how fast and seamless you could get things done even during the supposedly "crowded" Vivid events (there's only about 4.5 million people in Sydney so the crowds were pretty small compared to other places I've visited, especially Shanghai, China.)
I did occasionally forget about the driving on the left side of the road and of course walking on the same side as well. Apparently, I crossed the streets extremely slowly. This trip truly expanded my horizon in every area imaginable and my passion for traveling has only been infused with more energy. There's so much to do, so much to taste and so much to experience. God grant me the strength because I am forever an Explorer and I refuse to age with regrets of things and places I didn't do and go! I do hope to see the Queen again. I certainly owe her one and I've made it clear to her that if she ever sets foot in North America, I'd be her host and I'll do my best to return the favor.
