I have so many clips and videos saved from before I started vlogging. So I've decided after watching them, that sometimes random things actually depict quite a story. There is SO MUCH more to our story, to our journey, to what has happened to each member of this family. Incredible pain, grief, loss, fear, illness...to talent, emotion, love, joy, expression, and kindness. I vlog because I want to share a journey, a story of a boy born with a malformed brain. And how that happenstance freak timing of a virus changed our lives forever. But my children, who I love so dearly, have emerged as beautiful gifted souls. The gift of a special little dog, and a cat who after being rescued from Hurricane Irene eventually found his way into our hearts, especially Sarah. The glimpses of our 22 year old cat, who recently died. Life is not pretty. Marriage is hard hard work. There is anger, along with the appearance of happiness. Anger, depression, and a long, slow upward course of 24/7 medical crisis ************************************************************************** My middle son, Daniel John Hasselberger was born on November 22, 1997, with a rare brain deformity called Polymicrogyria. He has seizures, respiratory problems, can only eat by g tube, is in a wheelchair, can not speak, and has had countless surgeries and hospitalizations over his 16 years. We are a family of 5 from Sandy Hook, CT and this is our journey. Raising a severely medically fragile boy has been quite an adventure, and every day is full of new things that we don’t expect. I am Julie, Daniel’s Mom. I left my full time career as an HR Director 11 years ago because Daniel needed care that only a Mother can give. The struggle, the sacrifices, the sibling love, and miracle after miracle after miracle. Why did I create this channel? For support, to help other families dealing with the same diagnosis, to help me cope with depression and isolation, etc. Please leave comments and help us grow and develop this channel.
