Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz

Datuk Haji Mohd Amin Nordin bin Abdul Aziz is a Malaysian politician and the current mayor of Kuala Lumpur.

Career

Nordin was the secretary-general of Kuala Lumpur City Hall before his appointment to the mayoral office. He was appointed Mayor of Kuala Lumpur by Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Minister of Federal District.

In local government, a city hall, town hall, civic centre, (in the UK or Australia) a guildhall, a Rathaus (German), or (more rarely) a municipal building, is the chief administrative building of a city, town, or other municipality. It usually houses the city or town council, its associated departments, and their employees. It also usually functions as the base of the mayor of a city, town, borough, or county / shire.

By convention, until the mid 19th-century, a single large open chamber (or 'hall') formed an integral part of the building housing the council. The hall may be used for council meetings and other significant events. Kuala Lumpur (/ˈkwɑːləˈlʊmpʊər/ or /-pər/; Malaysian pronunciation: [ˈkwalə ˈlumpʊr]) is the national capital and most populous global city in Malaysia. The city covers an area of 243 km² (94 sq mi) and has an estimated population of 1.6 million as of 2010.Greater Kuala Lumpur, covering similar area as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.5 million people as of 2012. Kuala Lumpur is the seat of the Parliament of Malaysia. The city was once home to the executive and judicial branches of the federal government, but they were moved to Putrajaya in early 1999. Kuala Lumpur City Hall

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (Malay: Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, DBKL) is the local council charged with the administration of Kuala Lumpur. It is an agency under the Federal Territories Ministry of Malaysia.

DBKL is responsible for public health and sanitation, waste removal and management, town planning, environmental protection and building control, social and economic development and general maintenance functions of urban infrastructure. Executive power lies with the mayor in the city hall, who is appointed for three years by the Federal Territories Minister since local government elections were suspended in 1970. The current mayor of Kuala Lumpur is Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz, who has been in office since 18 July 2015.

The headquarters of DBKL is the Kuala Lumpur City Hall building at Jalan Raja Laut. DBKL has another office building, Menara DBKL 2 was located behind of the building and Menara DBKL 3 at Jalan Raja Abdullah as well as 11 branch offices around KL.
