Eric Jacobson (born January 15, 1971) is an American puppeteer best known for performing the Muppet characters Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, and Sam Eagle for Disney's The Muppets Studio, as well as Sesame Street characters Bert and Grover—all roles that he inherited from the characters' original performer, Frank Oz.
Jacobson initially started playing Bert in 1997, but officially joined the cast as Bert and additional Muppets in 2000. His role expanded in 2002 to include new Grover segments, particularly Global Grover. In 2001, he and David Rudman played Cookie Monster until 2002 when Sesame Workshop chose David as Cookie so there would be more interaction between Bert, Grover and Cookie Monster. However, Oz occasionally comes in to record new material with those characters.
His second role came in 2001 with The Book of Pooh, where he worked on Piglet and Kanga. That year, he also began playing Miss Piggy, debuting at the "Muppetfest" convention. Subsequently, in It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (2002), he performed the roles of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Animal. In The Muppets' Wizard of Oz (2005), as well as Sam Eagle.
"Swing dance" (sometimes called "Jitterbug") is a group of dances that developed with the swing style of jazz music in the 1920s-1940s, with the origins of each dance predating the popular "swing era". During the swing era, there were hundreds of styles of swing dancing, but those that have survived beyond that era include: Lindy Hop, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, and Lindy Charleston. Today, the most well-known of these dances is the Lindy Hop, which originated in Harlem in the early 1930s. While the majority of swing dances began in African American communities as vernacular African American dances, a swing era dance, like Balboa, developed outside of these communities.
Somewhat surprisingly, "swing dance" was not commonly used to identify a group of dances until the latter half of the twentieth century. Historically, the term "Swing" referred to the style of jazz music, which inspired the evolution of the dance. When referring to the dance, most of the participants of the original swing era would have used the term "jitterbug." Jitterbug is an umbrella term that denotes all forms of swing dance, though it is often used as a synonym for the six-count derivative of Lindy Hop called "East Coast Swing,". It was also common to use the word to identify a kind of dancer (i.e., a swing dancer). A "jitterbug" might prefer to dance Lindy Hop, Shag, or any of the other swing dances. The term was famously associated with swing era band leader Cab Calloway because, as he put it, "[The dancers] look like a bunch of jitterbugs out there on the floor due to their fast, often bouncy movements. The Jitterbug consists of a bouncy six-beat rhythm.
Sesame Street is a long-running American children's television series created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett. The program is known for its educational content, and images communicated through the use of Jim Henson's Muppets, animation, short films, humor, and cultural references. The series premiered on November 10, 1969, to positive reviews, some controversy, and high viewership; it has aired on the U.S.'s national public television provider (PBS) since its debut, with its first run moving to premium channel HBO on January 16, 2016.
The show has undergone significant changes throughout its history. The format of Sesame Street consists of a combination of commercial television production elements and techniques which have evolved to reflect the changes in American culture and the audience's viewing habits. With the creation of Sesame Street, producers and writers of a children's television show used, for the first time, educational goals and a curriculum to shape its content. It was also the first time a show's educational effects were studied.
A nightclub (also known as a discothèque, disco, dance club or club) is an entertainment venue which usually operates late into the night. A nightclub is generally distinguished from bars, pubs or taverns by the inclusion of a dance floor and a DJ booth, where a DJ plays recorded music. The busiest nights for a nightclub are Friday and Saturday night.
The music in nightclubs is either live bands or, more commonly, a mix of songs played by a DJ through a powerful PA system. Most clubs or club nights cater to certain music genres.
From about 1900 to 1920, working class Americans would gather at honky tonks or juke joints to dance to music played on a piano or a jukebox. Webster Hall is credited as the first modern nightclub, being built in 1886 and starting off as a "social hall", originally functioning as a home for dance and political activism events. During US Prohibition, nightclubs went underground as illegal speakeasy bars, with Webster Hall staying open, with rumors circulating of Al Capone's involvement and police bribery. With the repeal of Prohibition in February 1933, nightclubs were revived, such as New York's 21 Club, Copacabana, El Morocco, and the Stork Club. These nightclubs featured big bands (there were no DJs).
The given name Eric, Erik, or Erick is derived from the Old Norse name Eiríkr (or Eríkr in Eastern Scandinavia due to monophthongization). The first element, ei- is derived either from the older Proto-Norse *aina(z) meaning "one" or "alone" or from Proto-Norse *aiwa(z) meaning "ever" or "eternal". The second element -ríkr derives either from *rík(a)z meaning "ruler" or "prince" (cf. Gothic reiks) or from an even older Proto-Germanic *ríkiaz which meant "powerful" and "rich". The name is thus usually taken to mean "one ruler", "autocrat", "eternal ruler" or "ever powerful", "warrior", and "government".
The most common spelling in Scandinavia is Erik. In Norway, another form of the name (which has kept the Old Norse diphthong) Eirik is also commonly used. In Finland, the form Erkki is also used. The modern Icelandic version is Eiríkur, while the modern Faroese version is Eirikur. Éric [eʁik] is used in French, and in Germany Eric, Erik and Erich are used.
Although the name was in use in Anglo-Saxon England, its use was reinforced by Scandinavian settlers arriving before the Norman Invasion. It was an uncommon name in England until the Middle Ages, when it gained popularity, and finally became a common name in the 19th century. This was partly because of the publishing of the novel Eric, or, Little by Little by Frederick William Farrar in 1858.

The Eastside Jazzfest was organized by four veteran Milwaukee musicians who saw a definite need for Milwaukee's jazz scene to be recognized apart from other music festivals in the region. Neil Davis, Steve Peplin Jamie Breiwick and Kevin Hayden organized the first festival to showcase the unique sound and talent of Milwaukee's jazz scene -- particularly that of the city's vibrant Eastside. Seven groups took the stage to display what veteran and emerging jazz talent Milwaukee has to offer. The event was a huge success, so much that its organizers decided to continue the EASTSIDE JAZZFEST on a bi-annual basis. Shot by Thomas Sennholz & Jim Stienmetz Edited by Thomas Sennholz
