IT looks like Broken Hill will be receiving some A-list visitors in coming months.

Rumour has it that Liv Tyler and Justin Theroux will be flying into town to film scenes for the upcoming third season of their US series The Leftovers.

While Screen NSW wouldn’t confirm the whispers, insiders say it’s close to a done deal and we can expect an official announcement imminently.

The Leftovers follows the lives of a community in the years after an event they call “The Sudden Departure” during which two per cent of the world’s population mysteriously disappeared. In addition to Tyler and Theroux, it also stars Christopher Eccleston, Amy Brenneman and Regina King.

It’s a huge boon for the former mining city. With the majority of the drama’s scenes set to be filmed in Melbourne and regional Victoria thanks to funding from Film Victoria, it’s expected local talent will gain work on the production which begins shooting next week.

The series is set to film over the course of the next three months and will no doubt draw much attention to the locations it showcases.

Celebrity fans will also no doubt be hoping it draws another A-lister Down Under in the form of Theroux’s wife Jennifer Aniston.
