Using my CB while mobile in the Uk, I live in Bedfordshire.
Bedfordshire is mid uk and starts about 25 miles north of London.
I am roughly 45 miles north of London, and 3 miles north of Bedford.
CB Radio in the UK Or in England has declined over the years but..
Places like Birmingham London , Manchesteer still have quite a few people still on the Cb .
CB stands for citizens band radio, no licence is required now.
The Cb licence was dropped in the Uk some years back, I must say I am glad because you got very little for your money.

Citizens band radios provide safety and company on the road, and can be more reliable than cell phones.
Step 1: Tune in
Tune in to one of the 40 channels on CB. Channel 19 is the preferred highway channel used by truckers, and channel 9 is the emergency channel. The CB's range is one to 10 miles, depending on weather conditions, time, and location.
Tip
It's possible to occasionally pick up conversations hundreds or even thousands of miles away, known as "skip" conversations.
Step 2: Listen and talk
Make sure the Mic Gain control is on maximum. Listen for a break in the conversation; depress the microphone transmission button, and then say "break" to let people know you're using the channel. Listen for clearance and begin speaking.
Tip
The signal meter ranges from one to 30, gauging how well someone is coming through and, perhaps, how close they are.
Step 3: Use 10-codes
Familiarize yourself with CB jargon, including the many 10-codes, which are abbreviations used by CBers. 10-4 means OK or affirmative, 10-2 means receiving well, and 10-3 means stop transmitting.
Tip
Create a "handle" – an on-air pseudonym – of your choice.
Step 4: Close transmission
Keep your communications brief. Close transmissions by taking your thumb off the microphone button.
Step 5: Turn the squelch
Turn the squelch knob up to cut off noise from a channel that is not transmitting. The more you turn it up, however, the more stations you will lose, starting with the most distant.
Step 6: Use the ANL
Turn up the Automatic Noise Limiter, or ANL, in heavily populated areas where there is more airwave activity. This will clarify incoming signals.

In this video I show you how to tune a CB radio's whip antenna using an SWR meter. The antenna that I tune up in this video is a RadioShack - 64" base loaded whip antenna ( pt # 21-988 ). In my experience, this antenna should be mounted on a 4" spring for best SWR's. This rugged antenna has provided me with excellent service and it gets very high marks in user reviews.
Why tune an antenna? Well because an out of tune antenna can burn up the circuits inside a CB radio if the antenna is far enough out of tune. In an out of tune antenna, RF energy will not leave the antenna and it will be reflected back down your intenna and into your radios circuitry. Some newer radios have some protections built into them but those protections will lower your radio's output power in order to protect the radios circuits. That means your radio won't transmit as far. A good antenna, properly tuned, is the secret to getting the most from your Citizens Band or ham radio.

NSFW! In my documentary from the road, My CB is just pure material for my vids! Any Regular Everyday Normal Guy can be good material- you just need to inspire him;) I believe He was inspired good;) I met this guy on the CB radio who was a riot to bug in good fun and he got me back good a bunch of times too. All in good fun and good taste. It's One of the things we do to keep each other amused when we are away from home for so long. This driver was laying over for over a day or so so he was looking for something productive to do with his spare time which was to polish people's rims or anything that's supposed to be shiny for money. it hurts to have to lose over 5k views on my big heavy-weight video but I really needed to redo this vid from the choppy low quality visual. I tried a different program and she really pleased me. I rather have the vid done right. the views will collect back up- I'm sure of it;) Oh and out on the road we all make fun of each other in good fun so if anyone is worried about us offending the Good-Buddies (Gay Truckers), don't worry: they would have joined in on the fun and got us back. So there were none there and no good buddies were harmed in the making of this vid;) I 'preciate'er boys so much for checking me out and I hope you had fun with us;)

Citizens' Band radio (also known as CB radio) is, in many countries, a system of short-distance radio communications between individuals on a selection of 40 channels within the 27-MHz (11 m) band. A number of countries have created similar radio services, with varying technical standards and requirements for licensing. While they may be known by other names, such as the General Radio Service in Canada, they often use similar frequencies (26 to 28 MHz), have similar uses, and similar technical challenges. Although licenses may be required, eligibility is generally simple. Some countries also have personal radio services in the UHF band, such as the European PMR446 and the Australian UHF CB.

Citizens band radios provide safety and company on the road, and can be more reliable than cell phones.
Step 1: Tune in
Tune in to one of the 40 channels on CB. Channel 19 is the preferred highway channel used by truckers, and channel 9 is the emergency channel. The CB's range is one to 10 miles, depending on weather conditions, time, and location.
Tip
It's possible to occasionally pick up conversations hundreds or even thousands of miles away, known as "skip" conversations.
Step 2: Listen and talk
Make sure the Mic Gain control is on maximum. Listen for a break in the conversation; depress the microphone transmission button, and then say "break" to let people know you're using the channel. Listen for clearance and begin speaking.
Tip
The signal meter ranges from one to 30, gauging how well someone is coming through and, perhaps, how close they are.
Step 3: Use 10-codes
Familiarize yourself with CB jargon, including the many 10-codes, which are abbreviations used by CBers. 10-4 means OK or affirmative, 10-2 means receiving well, and 10-3 means stop transmitting.
Tip
Create a "handle" – an on-air pseudonym – of your choice.
Step 4: Close transmission
Keep your communications brief. Close transmissions by taking your thumb off the microphone button.
Step 5: Turn the squelch
Turn the squelch knob up to cut off noise from a channel that is not transmitting. The more you turn it up, however, the more stations you will lose, starting with the most distant.
Step 6: Use the ANL
Turn up the Automatic Noise Limiter, or ANL, in heavily populated areas where there is more airwave activity. This will clarify incoming signals.

In this video I show you how to tune a CB radio's whip antenna using an SWR meter. The antenna that I tune up in this video is a RadioShack - 64" base loaded whip antenna ( pt # 21-988 ). In my experience, this antenna should be mounted on a 4" spring for best SWR's. This rugged antenna has provided me with excellent service and it gets very high marks in user reviews.
Why tune an antenna? Well because an out of tune antenna can burn up the circuits inside a CB radio if the antenna is far enough out of tune. In an out of tune antenna, RF energy will not leave the antenna and it will be reflected back down your intenna and into your radios circuitry. Some newer radios have some protections built into them but those protections will lower your radio's output power in order to protect the radios circuits. That means your radio won't transmit as far. A good antenna, properly tuned, is the secret to getting the most from your Citizens Band or ham radio.

Any Regular Everyday Normal Guy can be good material- you just need to inspire him;) I believe He was inspired good;) I met this guy on the CB radio who was a riot to bug in good fun and he got me back good a bunch of times too. All in good fun and good taste. It's One of the things we do to keep each other amused when we are away from home for so long. This driver was laying over for over a day or so so he was looking for something productive to do with his spare time which was to polish people's rims or anything that's supposed to be shiny for money. it hurts to have to lose over 5k views on my big heavy-weight video but I really needed to redo this vid from the choppy low quality visual. I tried a different program and she really pleased me. I rather have the vid done right. the views will collect back up- I'm sure of it;) Oh and out on the road we all make fun of each other in good fun so if anyone is worried about us offending the Good-Buddies (Gay Truckers), don't worry: they would have joined in on the fun and got us back. So there were none there and no good buddies were harmed in the making of this vid;) I 'preciate'er boys so much for checking me out and I hope you had fun with us;)

89 Cherokee CB Radio and Antenna Full Install
1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer 4.0L I6 AW4 4X4 Command-Trac Renix It's finally time for an upgrade on this damn truck. Today I'm going to install a CB Radio and Antenna on my Jeep. It's pretty straight forward once you get past all the technical math behind transmitting and setting up everything properly. I got a Uniden Pro520xl CB radio because it was small and cheap, but also had separate controls for Squelch and RF Gain. I got a 4ft Black FireStik II Antenna because I've heard a lot of good reviews about it. It has a tuneable tip so you don't have to trim it to tune it. I got a FireStik door jamb mount and heavy duty spring to mount the antenna to the vehicle. -

It's finally time for an upgrade on this damn truck. Today I'm going to install a CB Radio and Antenna on my Jeep. It's pretty straight forward once you get past all the technical math behind transmitting and setting up everything properly. I got a Uniden Pro520xl CB radio because it was small and cheap, but also had separate controls for Squelch and RF Gain. I got a 4ft Black FireStik II Antenna because I've heard a lot of good reviews about it. It has a tuneable tip so you don't have to trim it to tune it. I got a FireStik door jamb mount and heavy duty spring to mount the antenna to the vehicle.
