Indoor games, free health camps, flower shows at Jawadhu Hills summer fest

Tiruuvannamalai: District Collector A Gnanasekaran on Friday chaired a review meeting about the preparedness for the 19th summer festival in Jawadhu Hills.

The two-day-long annual summer festival would be held on July 2 and July 3.

Officials from revenue, education, health, police, cooperatives, animal husbandry, agricultural and other government departments took part in the review meeting held at the Collectorate.


The local body has been instructed to clean the festival venue. Indoor games such as volley ball and Kabadi, flower show, free health camp would be organised as part of the festival. Cultural programmes of school students and folk artists would also be organised as part of the festival, said the press statement.


Multi-department stalls would be put up to popuralize the state and central welfare schemes.


Collector has also directed the officials to distribute pamphlets to the public about the welfare schemes implemented by the respective departments.


The Fire and Rescue Service department would to hold mock drill during the occasion, while the sniffer dogs of the police department would display its skill in detecting crimes during the fest. The officials have been asked to ensure basic amenities including drinking water to the tourists and public coming to the festival. The officials of the State Transport Corporation have been asked to operate special buses.
