This episode of Ignition presented by Tire Rack is as much a love story as it is a car review. A supercar focuses on the numbers; a sports car is more concerned with the experience. The Aston Martin Vantage has always been a sports car first and foremost. Now in its 11th model year, it blurs the line with supercar firepower and the most interesting transmission on the road today. A dogleg seven-speed manual forces its driver to pay close attention to each shift, and the result is the most rewarding sports-car ride on the planet. It doesn’t help that the gorgeous body has aged remarkably well, the V-12 engine has had continual updates, and there’s a new infotainment system. Just 100 of these stick-shift Vantages will be sold in the United States, and those buyers might be the luckiest people alive. The 408 is one of the most popular small-block V-8 stroker combinations for Chevy, Ford, and Mopar. This time on Engine Masters presented by AMSOIL and supported by Earl’s Vapor Guard and Mr. Gasket, we take the first step to find out which engine dominates with a dyno duel between Mopar and Ford. The Dodge LA-engine-based 408 is a complete crate engine from BluePrint Engines—we just added an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Holley carb, and MSD ignition. The Ford is a BluePrint Engines short-block, and we matched it to the Mopar with the same compression, cam, ignition, and carburetor. Edelbrock makes the only direct-replacement aluminum performance cylinder head currently available from the aftermarket for the Mopar, and that's what's on the BluePrint crate engine. To match that, we also used the Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads on the Ford. Edelbrock makes several models for the Ford, and they are the same price for the 170cc and the 190cc heads, so we chose the bigger ones. And that's where opinions will run wild on this episode of Engine Masters.

After Motor Trend named the all-new Camaro our 2016 Car of the Year, Angus Mackenzie wrote an article entitled “Revelation” in which he said that the Camaro SS was a better driver’s car than the then new BMW 340i. Thing is, Jason Cammisa and Jonny Lieberman have both driven the 340i, and they felt that being better than said Bimmer isn’t much of an accomplishment. Being better than the much-ballyhooed M4 on the other hand, well, that would be something. After all, the M4 is the car that all other companies look to when trying to figure out how to break into the luxury performance game. Based on a 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser — the only original part left is the chassis plate — the FJ44 has been completely reimagined. From its aluminum, powdercoated body panels and Learjet sun visors, to its supercharged 6.2L V-8 and custom Art Morrison frame, no stone has been left unturned, no detail left unfussed with.

The G65 is the first SUV since the 1980s Lamborghini LM002 to feature a V-12 powerplant. Papa G’s big twin-turbo heart pumps out 621hp and a mind-blowing 738 lb-ft of torque. All that power comes with a price: more than $220,000. For the same amount of money, you can also have the Icon FJ44. Based on a 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser — the only original part left is the chassis plate — the FJ44 has been completely reimagined. From its aluminum, powdercoated body panels and Learjet sun visors, to its supercharged 6.2L V-8 and custom Art Morrison frame, no stone has been left unturned, no detail left unfussed with.
