An anagram is a type of word play, the result of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce a new word or phrase, using all the original letters exactly once; for example, the word anagram can be rearranged into nag-a-ram. Someone who creates anagrams may be called an "anagrammatist". The original word or phrase is known as the subject of the anagram. Anagrams are often used as a form of mnemonic device as well.
Any word or phrase that exactly reproduces the letters in another order is an anagram. However, the goal of serious or skilled anagrammatists is to produce anagrams that in some way reflect or comment on the subject.
Such an anagram may be a synonym or antonym of its subject, a parody, a criticism, or praise. It sometimes changes a proper noun or personal name into a sentence, such as with William Shakespeare = I am a weakish speller or Madam Curie = Radium came. It sometimes changes a noun into a verb, such as with the example "silent" which can be rearranged to "listen". It can also rearrange a noun into a noun, such as with incest = insect.

This happens to be my 115th Rush Bass Cover posted on the 1st day of 2015, or #115 on 1/1/15. What a crafty bit of wordsmithing these lyrics are. Anagram (for Mongo) is off their Presto album which was released in 1989. I remember the day I bought this album like it was yesterday. I’d been anticipating it for some time and early on the day the album was released, I got in the car and drove over to Tapeville in Nanuet, NY which was where you bought your CD’s back then. Even once CD’s stole the market from vinyl and tapes they kept the name Tapeville for some reason. Not wanting to waste time finding a parking spot, I pulled up right in front of the store and sent my friend, Jeff Muccio, in to make the purchase. Somehow, probably in a magazine article (this was well before the interne...

The Palace, Auburn Hills - Michigan, USA PRESTO TOUR - March 08, 1990 Previously A.K.A. "Available Light" Bootleg from very low gen VHS.
The 7th song from Rush's 1989 album "Presto". Killer song.
Here's a beautiful song, from "Hold Your Fire". This might be my favorite lyrics in the entire Rush catalog; just superb. Drumming is kind of cool too and Alex's solo at the end gives me goosebumps every time! The marimba/snare part is played on the SPD-20 with two layers of sounds and the "choked china cymbal" after the floor toms is played on two other Roland pads. And I'm wearing a shirt of the right color! ;) Not perfect but I tried! Enjoy!

There's a snake coming out of the darkness
Parade from paradise
End the need for Eden
Chase the dreams of merchandise
There is tic and toc in atomic
Leaders make a deal
The cosmic is largely comic
A con they couldn't conceal
There is no safe seat at the feast
Take your best stab at the beast
The night is turning thin
The saint is turning to sin
Raise the art to resistance
Danger dare to be grand
Pride reduced to humble pie
Diamonds down to sand
Take heart from earth and weather
The brightness of new birth
Take heart from the harvest
Shave the harvest from the earth
Reasoning is partly insane
Image just an eyeless game
The night is turning thin
The saint is turning to sin
Miracles will have their claimers
More will bow to Rome
He and she are in the house
But there's only me at home
Rose is a rose of splendor
Posed to respond in the end
Lonely things like nights,
I find, end finer with a friend
I hear in the rate of her heart
A tear in the heat of the art
The night turns thin
