Libertarian Party of Florida

The Libertarian Party of Florida or LPF, is the Florida state affiliate of the Libertarian Party (United States). The organization was founded January 21, 1987 by Charles T. Manhart and Patricia Thorpe  · Though the LPF was formed in 1971 under the name "Florida Libertarian Party," the party failed to submit registration paperwork and was forced to disband. The party re-emerged and was re-formed in 1987 under the current name "Libertarian Party of Florida." The LPF's Executive Committee (EC) was incorporated in 2012.

As of November 2015, the current EC includes Chairperson Char-Lez Braden, Vice Chairperson Vicki Kirkland, Treasurer James Morris, and Secretary Dawn Drellos-Thompson. There are three Directors At Large, including Jared Jones—Director At Large One, Matt Worley—Director At Large Two, and Omar Recuero—Director At Large Three. Each of these positions are elected for two years, with the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Director At Large One, and Director At Large Three chosen by LPF delegates in the odd numbered years. During the even numbered years, the Treasurer, Secretary, and Director At Large Three are chosen my LPF delegates.

Libertarian Party of Indiana

The Libertarian Party of Indiana is the Indiana affiliate of the Libertarian Party.

History and Operations

The founding meeting of the Libertarian Party of Indiana was held on July 14, 1974 at the Holiday Inn at Weir Cook Airport (now called the Indianapolis International Airport). Approximately 20-25 people attended including Paul Hyatt, Tom Duncan, Marvin Lazaro, Brian Bernstein, Dick Smith, Steve Butterbaugh and Charlie Reisert. Reisert made the motion to start the Libertarian Party of Indiana. The first headquarters was located at 1430 N. Capitol Avenue in Indianapolis. The LPIN became a minor political party in 1994 after achieving ballot access when Steve Dillon received more than 2% of the vote running for Secretary of State.

The Libertarian Party of Indiana has continually earned ballot access since 1994. In 2008, the Libertarian presidential ticket of Bob Barr and Wayne Allyn Root had their strongest showing in Indiana receiving 1.1% of the vote (19,243 votes). On February 17, 2009, Indianapolis city councilmember Edward Coleman publicly announced that he had left the Republican Party and joined the Libertarian Party . The party's best finish in a statewide race came in 2006 when US Senate candidate Steve Osborn received about 13% of the vote. Osborn had the best result for a third party candidate running for the Senate in the 2006 elections.

Libertarian Party of Louisiana

The Libertarian Party of Louisiana (LPL) is the Louisiana affiliate of the Libertarian Party. The state chairman is Scott A. Lewis III. It is the third largest party in Louisiana and one of five officially recognized parties in the state. The LPL has two legislative accomplishments to its credit, one a friendlier ballot access law passed in 2004, and the other, a defeat of a bill which would have redefined any party under 40,000 registered voters as a "minor" party and not deserving of federal primary elections. The party is currently organizing individual parishes with their own party committees and is fielding candidates in five of the six upcoming 2014 Congressional elections as well as 13 local office candidates.

Membership

Party membership as of May 26, 2015 is 11,165 registered Libertarians in the State of Louisiana up from January 2012, which was 4,813 registered voters statewide. Party membership continues to increase since official recognition increased knowledge about libertarianism and by those seeking an alternative to older parties presently in power.

Libertarian Party of Illinois

The Libertarian Party of Illinois is the Illinois affiliate of the Libertarian Party. The state chair is Lex Green. There are six Libertarian officeholders in Illinois.

Florida

Florida ⁱ/ˈflɒrɪdə/ (Spanish for "flowery land") is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. The state is bordered to the west by the Gulf of Mexico, to the north by Alabama and Georgia, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the south by the Straits of Florida and the country of Cuba. Florida is the 22nd most extensive, the 3rd most populous, and the 8th most densely populated of the United States. Jacksonville is the most populous city in Florida, and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. The Miami metropolitan area is the eighth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. Tallahassee is the state capital.

A peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida, it has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States, approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km), and is the only state that borders both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of the state is at or near sea level and is characterized by sedimentary soil. The climate varies from subtropical in the north to tropical in the south. The American alligator, American crocodile, Florida panther, and manatee can be found in the Everglades National Park.

Florida, Buenos Aires

Florida (officially Florida Este) is a mostly residential barrio of the Vicente López Partido in the northern suburbs of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is principally a middle-class neighbourhood and is located between the barrios of Olivos and Vicente López, also in the same partido (department).

Location

The city is located between The Autopista Pascual Palazzo (mostly known as "Panamericana" or "Acceso Norte") highway and the Maipú Avenue. The Acceso Norte splits the district into two neighborhoods: Florida Este (from Panamericana to Maipú Avenue) and Florida Oeste (from Panamericana to De los Constituyentes Avenue).

Florida is served by the Mitre Line, which provides easy access to the city of Buenos Aires. Due to the railway lines, Este and Oeste neighborhoods are also called "Florida Mitre" or "Florida Belgrano". Its main commercial area is centered on General San Martín avenue.

History

Florida was founded in 1891 when the Buenos Aires and Rosario Railway opened a station in the section from Belgrano that then reached Bartolomé Mitre, Borges and San Isidro. Some versions state that the station (and subsequently the village) was named "Florida" to commemorate a victory over Spanish army in the Paraje La Florida of Alto Perú on May 25, 1814, during the War of Independence.

Florida is the first studio album by American hip hop producer Diplo, released in 2004 on the Big Dada label. In 2014, it was re-released as F10rida, with 10 extra tracks added, plus bonus commentary.
