Alex Metric

Alex Metric (born Alex Drury, 1984) is a British musician, DJ and producer. He has released numerous EPs, remixed artists such as Madeon, Foals, Depeche Mode, La Roux, N.E.R.D, Phoenix, Gorillaz and Bloc Party as well as working as a producer for acts such as Scissor Sisters, Charli XCX, The Infadels and Adam Freeland. Alongside Yuksek as The Alexanders, he released "Don't Miss" featuring Anna Lunoe on 24 February 2014.

One More Chance (Madonna song)

"One More Chance" is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna from the ballads compilation Something to Remember (1995). Written and produced by Madonna and David Foster, it was released on March 7, 1996 by Maverick Records as the album's second single in Australia and Japan, and the third single in several European countries. An acoustic pop ballad, the song lyrically talks about attempting to win a lost lover back. The song was inspired by Madonna's real life experience, but she wrote it from the opposite point of view.

The song received positive response from music critics, who praised its musical simplicity and Madonna's vocal delivery. "One More Chance" peaked at number two in Italy and charted within the top forty in Australia, Finland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Since Madonna was busy filming the musical Evita, the song received little promotion and no accompanying music video.

Background and writing

In November 1995, Madonna released a compilation album, Something to Remember, featuring a selection of her ballads over a decade of her career and three new songs. "One More Chance" was one of the new songs she composed alongside Canadian musician David Foster. It was released as the album's second single in Australia and Japan, and the third single in the European countries on March 7, 1996. The Spanish version of "You'll See", titled "Verás", appeared as the B-side of the single release. Foster initially did not expect Madonna would collaborate with him, as he believed that his music was not "really [be] hip enough for her." Madonna and Foster worked on the song during the writing and recording session for Something to Remember, in the third weekend of September 1995.

One More Chance (will.i.am song)

"One More Chance" is a hip-hop song by American rapper will.i.am, released as the third single from his third solo album, Songs About Girls.

Background

It was slated to be the second single, but its release was cancelled in favor of "Heartbreaker". Initially, the song was released via airplay on many European radio stations in October 2007, and subsequently, it was released to US radio. The song was co-written by Fernando Garibay, and was released in the UK on 25 August 2008. It was believed that Nicole Scherzinger was originally due to feature on the track, as in the first verse, will.i.am raps "You want a good nigga to stickwitu", in reference to the Pussycat Dolls song "Stickwitu". The music video for "One More Chance" premiered on Bubble Hits on 31 July 2008. It features will.i.am walking through a town manipulating the scenery around him with his hands to win his ex's favour and give him "one more chance". On August 31, 2008, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at #97.

Marks and Spencer plc (also known as M&S) is a major British multinational retailer headquartered in the City of Westminster, London. It specialises in the selling of clothing, home products and luxury food products. M&S was founded in 1884 by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer in Leeds.

In 1998, the company became the first British retailer to make a pre-tax profit of over £1 billion, although subsequently it went into a sudden slump, which took the company, its shareholders, who included hundreds of thousands of small investors, and nearly all retail analysts and business journalists, by surprise. In November 2009, it was announced that Marc Bolland, formerly of Morrisons, would take over as chief executive from executive chairman Stuart Rose in early 2010; Rose remained in the role of non-executive chairman until he was replaced by Robert Swannell in January 2011.

It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

History

Establishment

The company was founded by a partnership between Michael Marks, a Polish Jew from Słonim (Marks was born into a Polish-Jewish family, a Polish refugee living in the Russian Empire, now in Belarus), and Thomas Spencer, a cashier from the English market town of Skipton in North Yorkshire. On his arrival in England, Marks worked for a company in Leeds, called Barran, which employed refugees (see Sir John Barran, 1st Baronet). In 1884 he met Isaac Jowitt Dewhirst while looking for work. Dewhirst lent Marks £5 which he used to establish his Penny Bazaar on Kirkgate Market, in Leeds. Dewhirst also taught him a little English. Dewhirst's cashier was Tom Spencer, an excellent bookkeeper, whose lively and intelligent second wife, Agnes, helped improve Marks' English. In 1894, when Marks acquired a permanent stall in Leeds' covered market, he invited Spencer to become his partner.

More… is the third studio album from American country music artist Trace Adkins. It was released on November 2, 1999 on Capitol Nashville. It features the singles "Don't Lie", "More", and "I'm Gonna Love You Anyway", which respectively reached No. 27, No. 10, and No. 36 on the Hot Country Songs charts. It was also the only album of his career not to achieve RIAA certification. Trey Bruce produced all but two of the album's tracks. "Don't Lie" was produced by Paul Worley, while "All Hat, No Cattle" was produced by Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel.

The album's release date was advanced due to initial radio demand for "Don't Lie".
