Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor. Called the King of Pop, his contributions to music and dance, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades.
The eighth child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along with his elder brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon as a member of the Jackson 5 in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971. In the early 1980s, Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music. The music videos for his songs, including those of "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller" from his 1982 album Thriller, were credited with breaking down racial barriers and with transforming the medium into an art form and promotional tool. The popularity of these videos helped to bring the then-relatively-new television channel MTV to fame. His 1987 album Bad spawned the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man in the Mirror", and "Dirty Diana", becoming the first album to have five number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. With videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream", he continued to innovate the medium throughout the 1990s, as well as forging a reputation as a touring solo artist. Through stage and video performances, Jackson popularized a number of complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, to which he gave the name. His distinctive sound and style has influenced numerous artists of various music genres.
A state university system in the United States is a group of public universities supported by an individual state, or a similar entity such as the District of Columbia. These systems constitute the majority of public-funded universities in the country. Each state supports at least one such system.
State university systems should not be confused with federally funded colleges and universities, at which attendance is limited to military personnel and government employees. Members of foreign militaries and governments also attend some schools. These schools include the United States military academies, Naval Postgraduate School, and military staff colleges.
A state university system normally means a single legal entity and administration, but may consist of several institutions, each with its own identity as a university. Some states—such as California and Texas—support more than one such system.
State universities get subsidies from their states. The amount of the subsidy varies from university to university and state to state, but the effect is to lower tuition costs below that of private universities for students from that state or district. As more and more Americans attend college, and private tuition rates increase well beyond the rate of inflation, admission to state universities is becoming more and more competitive.

This is the short version of the documentary.
This is Ashleigh Caffey's tribute to Michael Jackson shot and edited by video artist, Marilys Ernst. This was a somewhat improvised dance performance to MJ's "Rock My World." It was shot in one day in a photo studio in Jersey City, Flore 8. I saw Ashleigh dancing one day in the office of MI Artbox to a Michael Jackson song, so I asked her if I could shoot her in dancing in a real studio. She agreed, and this is the result. Her best friend Ashleigh Ward and the studio owner, my friend, Teri Fiore, were the only other people there. I shot her dancing to the whole song 6 times, in the space of about an hour and a half. Editing took MUCH longer.

The choreographer Heidi Latsky directed and choreographed the film "Soliloquy," the first project commissioned by Dance for Film on Location, at Montclair State University. Featuring College of the Arts alumnus Evan Ruggiero, the film is a celebration of dancers of all physical abilities. "Soliloquy" (2015) “Soliloquy embraces difference and the inherent isolation of being human with fierceness and frankness. When given the opportunity to make a film, my response was to create a film that conveyed with deep intimacy the people in it— something much harder to accomplish in a live dance performance because of the audience’s distance from the dancers and the inability often to see the dancers’ faces. Soliloquy is a magnifying glass, an entrée into the internal worlds of everyone in it.” —...
