All rights and credit go directly to its rightful owners. == Mika Brzezinski, Joe Scarborough’s co-host on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” challenged a panel to find a better solution to the visa program Thursday, other than the one offered by Donald Trump, and the ideas were pretty tepid. She ran down the facts that have surfaced about Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, since they murdered 14 people last week in San Bernardino “Officials said yesterday that they did not know that Malik was committed to jihad when she applied for a fiancee visa and came to the United States,” she said, before concluding, “that’s a little bit problematic when we are looking at our visa process.” After a discussion of how the process failed, Brzezinski said that last week’s slaughter is bound to happen again without some change. Then she threw down the gauntlet. “Someone tell me something better than what Donald Trump is saying.” she said. “And there has to be something better because everybody has been sitting here for days just lambasting him, including me, because I don’t agree with it. But somebody needs a better idea.” Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin suggested throwing more money at the problem... the panel appeared largely caught in the headlights. == The entire panel are stuck on the notion (like many in both parties) that radicalization is "our fault", that what we do as a country has a cause-and-effect relationship in that process, independent of Islam. What never occurs to any of these "experts" is the possibility that "radicalization" has nothing to do with non-Muslims; it's a purely intrinsic potential within Islam's theology, independent of outsiders. Until liberals (and many conservatives) confront this problematic reality (that conflicts with their optimistic hopes), no meaningful or rational approach to security against Islamist terrorism can be achieved. The problem is not us-vs-Islam; the problem, literally, is Islam-vs-itself. Islam is not based on a "revealed" scripture, created by "inspired" men, open to editing and interpretation; it's the word of God, directly revealed to an illiterate prophet, who dictated the word of God verbatim. Sharia (Islamic Law) based on the Quran (and hadith) is regarded in a much more sacred way than any of our secular laws. Sharia is like the US Constitution, one based on divine command that you can't ammend, because you can't ammend the word of God. When Muslims are "radicalized", nothing more complex or mysterious occurs than they decide to follow their "constitution" strictly, rather than loosely. From our perspective, relative to our secular laws, it seems "extremist"; our secularism is extreme relative to their spirituality. Sharia does not permit any laws before it, much as God said "thou shalt have no gods before me". Muslims who follow non-Islamic laws, rather than sharia, are called by a very specific name in the Quran: "The Hypocrites". The Ummah (community of believers) are commanded to fight against hypocrites, just as they are commanded to fight apostates and non-believers. The Quran gives the command, to spread the domain of Islam (dar al-Islam) until the domain of disbelief (dar al-Harb) exists no longer: = Surah 8:39 - "And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone (in the whole of the world). But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do." Other passages of the Quran make commands of a similar nature: = 3:151 "We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve." 4:76 "Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil." 4:91 "Take them and kill them wherever ye find them. Against such We have given you clear warrant." 8:12 "I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger." 21:97 "Behold them, staring wide (in terror), the eyes of those who disbelieve!" 33:35-36 "Allah repulsed the disbelievers. ... He brought those of the People of the Scripture who supported them down from their strongholds, and cast panic into their hearts.
