John Glascock (2 May 1951 – 17 November 1979) was the bass guitarist, backing vocalist, and occasional lead vocalist for the progressive rock band Carmen. He was also the bass guitarist and backing vocalist for the progressive rock band Jethro Tull from December 1975 until August 1979. He died in 1979, at the age of 28, as a result of a congenital heart valve defect, which was worsened by an infection caused by an abscessed tooth.
In a September 1978 'Guitar Player' interview, Ritchie Blackmore had said "...John Glascock is a brilliant bass player, the best in the business in rock."
The first band John Glascock played with was The Juniors (1962–1964). He then played with The Gods (early 1965 - June 1967, September 1967 - February 1969), where, together with future Uriah Heep member Ken Hensley, recorded the album Genesis. After briefly playing with Head Machine (1970), he joined Toe Fat (June 1969 - December 1970), again with Hensley and another future Uriah Heep member, Lee Kerslake. With Chicken Shack (January 1971 - March 1972) Glascock recorded only the album Imagination Lady. His brother Brian Glascock also played drums in Toe Fat.

Martin Lancelot Barre (/bɑːr/; born 17 November 1946) is an English rock musician best known for his work with progressive rock band Jethro Tull, with whom he recorded and toured from their second album in 1969 to the band's dissolution in 2014. In early 1990's he initiated a solo career that now spawned four studio albums plus several guest appearances.
He has also played the flute and other instruments such as the mandolin, both on-stage for Jethro Tull and in his own solo work.
Martin Barre was born in Kings Heath, Birmingham, West Midlands, England on November 17, 1946. His father was an engineer who had wanted to play clarinet professionally. In grammar school Barre played flute. When Barre bought his first guitar his father gave him albums by Barney Kessel, Johnny Smith and Wes Montgomery to broaden his musical perspectives.
In college he studied architecture at Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University) for three years, but did not complete his studies after failing Spanish and Atomic Science, subjects that he found to have little to do with designing buildings. After designing a road junction in Birmingham, England, he decided that a career in architecture was too boring, and switched to music.
John Evan (born John Spencer Evans, born 28 March 1948, Blackpool, Lancashire) is a British musician and composer. He is better known for having played keyboards for Jethro Tull from April 1970 to June 1980. He was educated at King's College London.
Evans changed his name when his first band, The Blades, changed their name to The John Evan Band. Jeffrey Hammond apparently thought 'The John Evan Band' sounded better than 'The John Evans Band'. He participated from the Blackpool musical scene, with most of the musicians that would become Jethro Tull, including Barrie Barlow and Ian Anderson.
Later on, Evan was attending college when he happened to recognize his former band mates on the radio with the song Living in the Past, remarking years later that it stood out to him because of its quite unusual time signature for a pop song (5/4).
In 1970, he played as a session musician on Tull's Benefit album (where his acknowledgement reads: "...and John Evan, who played keyboards for our benefit."), and was eventually convinced by Ian Anderson to leave school to become a full-fledged member of the band. In addition to his many distinctive contributions to the group's overall musical sound and stage personality, it is also notable that Evan composed the memorable piano introduction to Locomotive Breath, having achieved this task in studio while some of the other band members were out to lunch.

In 1985 John D. Glascock undertook the work of compiling historical data & sharing through what came to be known as the GLAS(S)COCK FAMILY QUARTERLY. Dr. George Glascock was murdered in 1787 at the edict of Phillip Alston, North Carolina's first aristocrat. Being well connected, it was easy enough to escape not only justice, but physical "death" itself. By the mid-1800's ~ the Glas(s)cock name had been wiped into oblivion & off the records. What significance is veiled through this lineage being related to George Washington via the maternal side of the bloodline & how does this story relate to the ideas of war, power & control in todays world.

Jethro Tull's "Cup Of Wonder" off of their "Songs From The Wood" album. I've had this one sitting around for a while and thought I'd post it toward Austria's own Jackinart (a rabid Tull fan by all appearances) who recently posted a great cover of the song, "Songs From The Wood". One of the first "serious" bands I was in, Scepter (yeah I know - lame name), actually played this song. We played covers by Tull, Kansas, YES, RUSH, Styx, Genesis...oh yeah and to round out the set, some Bruce Springsteen, REO Speedwagon, AC/DC, Doors, Allman Brothers??? And I would wonder why the audience always looked perplexed. My friend Harry can corroborate this story. Anyway, another fine bass line played with a pick by John Glasscock whose clean, tight, midrangy sound I've always admired.
